  1. Also one thing to note with any source where it says "experts say" it means it could be anyone saying this. Unless someone puts there name to it to back the validity up its likely rubbish. This goes for all media and news items.

Russian troops are receiving beta versions of a future armored tracked platform that could usher in the 5th generation conventional land tank, heavy APC, artillery and missile launcher and possibly fully robotic assault armored vehicle. After five years of development, the Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation has finalized manufacture of the first batch of Armata tanks and heavy personnel carriers. They have been included in Russia’s 2015 defense order, TASS said. Reportedly, 20 units have already been manufactured and issued to troops for hands-on training. The exact characteristics and appearance of the platform remain classified, though this might soon change as the new vehicles are on the verge of taking part in the Victory Day Parade on Red Square, May 9 this year. A better chance to see these innovative battle vehicles of the future might be given to experts and public alike during Russia Arms Expo 2015 (September 9-12, Nizhniy Tagil). The platform’s chief tank (T-14) sports an unmanned remotely controlled turret armed with a brand new 125 mm 2A82-1M smoothbore cannon. Its muzzle energy is greater than one of the world’s previously considered best cannons: the German Leopard-2 Rheinmetall 120 mm gun. The 125 mm gun has 15-20 percent improved accuracy and its rolling fire angular dispersion has improved 1.7 times. According to Russian media, the Armata tank might also come with a specially developed 152 mm gun, the most powerful ever cannon to be mounted on a main battle tank. The tank’s turret will also carry a 30 mm sub-caliber ranging gun to deal with various targets, including low-flying aerial targets, such as attack planes and helicopters. A 12.5 mm turret-mounted heavy machine gun is reportedly capable of taking out incoming projectiles, such as anti-tank missiles. It’s capable of neutralizing shells approaching at speeds of up to 3,000 meters per second. The tank’s crew is securely enclosed in a multi-layer armored capsule separated from the ammunition container. The vehicle is fully computerized and only needs two servicemen to operate it. Each can also deploy the tank’s weapon systems. The tank’s targeting is reportedly done with an active-phased array antenna and a large variety of other sensors. The Armata platform allegedly has a fully mechanized electric transmission, powered by a 1,200 HP diesel engine. For greater efficiency, maintenance and repair schedules have been extended. Within its blueprint, the Armata armored vehicle has the potential to evolve into a fully robotic battle vehicle. According to preliminary estimates, 2,300 units are required for the Russian army.
  4. Thats what forward observers are for. To put attack area for planes. And if its mechanised game and you have a couple of trucks stripped for ammo its not an issue
  5. Given tanks will reverse if a laser targeter - lock is on them in game Could infantry carry a system to use over an area freaking tanks out. Could this be used in real life. Over ride it with danger signals.

  7. due to issues with iron - spotting and c2 and troops not seeing friendly tanks behind them ive dropped to Elite. This over all 3 Games RT, CMBN and BS
  8. Having played a game that was mech only i got slaughtered by my opponent who had 16 HTs. i presumed he wanted an infantry fight but got something else. If i played again id take what the russians get lots of - cheap airpower. Strafle the HTs to death or lots of artillery. AT rifles are useless - pen after pen that does nothing to the HT. As a suggestion perhaps agree with an opponent light tanks only? to keep it reasonable. Else free for all with suggestions above. And as stated above mech troops were tank riders. Where are the tanks in the selection lol
  9. The assault boat was put by the opponent on a hill in his deployment area and everything shot at it and it was indestructible. I never did it. Only one opponent did and i had to keep units from shooting. Was an issue noted on the forums going back to the original game. I think they removed that unit. Nothing wrong with using mines anyway you see fit. Part of the game. Give those sappers something to do. Ive seen alot of units blasting away and a guy will surrender but die as they were in the process of shooting him when he put his hands up. Nik Schissen - Dont shoot However He thought he washed for supper is the other translation- thats what the guy thought in Saving Private Ryvan who gunned down the german prisoners.
  10. In the rule book though i thought it was stated friendly units share ammo. It never said under that anything regsrding the same specific hqs.

  12. There was an old book written 1985? It was an account of what might happen in a cold war fight back then. The main aspect which is true today is ammo depletion which the book discussed. Supply was the biggest issue with both sides running out of ammo in 7-8 weeks with fighting on massive fronts. With MGs firing lotza rounds and all high tech ammo even with mass production supply couldnt keep up with demand. So this game shows easily the ammo depletion of units. My guys burned through 00s of rounds suppressing very fast. One feature of this game id like added is where you can auto supply your troops with ammo from all vehicles purchased. Option max out ammo. They need more ammo lol AT launchers can can be at players choice. Just makes it easier to kick off Still love the game thou
  13. Its the most brutal lol Lost alot of my guys 2nd scenario to enemy "units". Expect the unexpected is all I can say AI is more aggressive perhaps ? Great game

  15. Im using Chrome and by the exchange here in Tauranga NZ so have good fast net speed. They need to torrent file. Id happily share - i have 600 gig spare to share lol
  16. Most ladders ive played on, house rule is no spotted artillery till turn 8 and no pre planned trps in meeting engagements. Its on table direct mortar, tank, mg fire etc only and no planned missions into area you cannot see ie deployment. Else it can turn into an artillery wins in a few turns game. Just a waste of time setting up amd playing it lol Thats pretty gamey I used a truck as a recon scout once In CMBN. Sadly no assault boats to put on hills like the original CM. That was the worst thing you could do.
  17. It would be expected a sound contact would come up. Should have really. If your guys are not shooting or in combat why could they not hear something. Sounds of shooting and ya ears ringing could easily hide the HTs noise. Hazy conditons and dusk dont help the spotting but there is the sound contact aspect. Then the HT spots your units which is a bit odd. Did your troops throw a bombfire - sing some songs. What was your troops skill level? Was the platoon HQ with them?

  19. It is really important to button the enemy tanks and there HQ who is giving them info as to your tanks position. Equally you need c2 with your spotting HQs and tanks concerned. Really important as they say where enemy tanks are to your tanks who are then more aware. Elite status, superior optics etc is irrelevant in the hunting tank. Find your enemy and make sure your tanks know over comms where they are. Good luck
  20. I appreciate it being a limitation of the game engine but as Tripps oponent in this any small thing like that in our close games can kill a unit and give the edge to the oponent. Can ruin the game. Thanks for your explanations to help solve this. That way we know. Ive also just sent a ticket for a bug to BF. RT game my T 34 shoots two HE shots through the panther of my oponent front on. like it was never there. It explodes well behind and my mg from t34 is pinging off panther armour. It very clear and they can watch the turn. Thats a major bug. Pbm turn sent for them to comment on. I have never seen it happen in 30+ odd RT pbms ive played. Lol
