  1. I think what is going on here is that the lowly mortar never got the respect that it deserved. Now that it is deadly, people are having to reset their expectations a bit.
  2. I got a corrupted US Link file too. Enormously frustrating -- twice!
  3. Taking the time out for telling us this is VERY much appreciated. Thanks! Oh, and we old timers know you're not going to nail everything the first time...that's okay with us. You've proved your mettle over the years...we will stick with you.
  4. Nice manual! And there's an "Iron" mode -- I may have just wet myself. Or was it that porn fixation discussed earlier in this thread?
  5. Oh my god, there's an Iron Man mode. I may have just wet my pants.
  6. GRRRR. Just kidding, of course. It's sorta like telling Picasso to hurry up and drop that last bit of paint on the canvas. And really, there is a bit of art in what you're doing, so I don't want to be the "hurry up" guy. But some of us are really busy men, and I want a proper "man-cation" and I gotta plan it. So hurry up, Picasso, and finish your painting or I'll poop on your paintbrush.
  7. I know you guys have to keep it all ambiguous and stuff, but a concrete release date and time would suuuuuuuuurrre be nice for your loyal fans. I want to be able to clear my calendar that day, and game like a loon. Many other fans would gleefully take a day off (or two) to geek it up on CMBN. So..if you can..give up a release date. C' mon. You know we love you. Love us.
  8. Well, maybe he meant to say that Germans were Hitler's willing executioners of a frightful policy of world conquest and genocide?
  9. As purely as I can get...true-life historical, without a thought to "balance". I'll probably focus a bit on Mortain.
  10. Thats exactly why I created them...it lead to lots of fun solitaire games. Also, adding weather elements and well designed terrain tended to limit the all-seeing affects you seem to have issue with.
  11. The "waffles" meme got me thinking..yeah, these CM freaks are still bat-sh*t crazy. Its nice to know there are constants in the universe.
  12. I have been looking forward to the CM Normandy myself. I'm looking forward to contributing to scenario design, etc. I liked CMSF, but I had a hard time getting into a fictional war. Nevertheless, I commend Battlefront for its effort. We are all excited about the new game. But lets be careful. While the Battlefront team is first rate, there will inevitably be errors and issues. They're product support is fantastic, the mod community off the charts, and I view the game, even when its released, as a work in progress. There will be bugs and whatnot, and various other issues (e.g., why do the paratroopers look like GI Joes, or whatever). A release like this is more akin to a partnership between its players and the designers: we need to work with them in fine tuning by adding constructive suggestions and input. Of course, most of you know this, but I thought it should be reiterated. I'm looking forward to yet other fine product from your company, that will evolve and change a bit over time. Regards, Franko P.S. The MG 42s better sound bad ass.
  13. I'm there. I'll bring another guy who is too lame to be on the Internet.
  14. I made sure during my last visit to Normandy, in 2008, that I took about a zillion pictures of locations where small unit actions happened...all with CM in mind. Then, I bought as many hiking maps (5m/10m) I could find. Ready to go. Release the game!
  15. I was frustrated with the first mission, too. But then I learned patience. I bought a couple of Tigers, who sat up on the ridge and calmly pounded away and any guns that were dumb enough to shoot at them. i also used some scouts to spot for bad guys, and then dumped mortar rounds on them. When I was satisfied that most of the enemy guns were neutralized, then I moved up with my infantry. I took only a few casualties, although they came right over the hills through open terrain. The moved up quick and took the objectives. Patience is key.
