  1. Ah, interesting that old timers have to unlearn and relearn everything!
  2. I have not tried HW yet so it sounds like a solid advice I would try. However, I have concerns if such "tactics" could be abused by Allied/Soviet players. Any thoughts? Spoilers below: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The problem with "door knocker" against T34 is the troops get paniked and bailed out after slight penetration occurs. One of the tanks lost all the turret crews and the remaining stayed for 2 turns before bailing out. I have no numbers here but I think turret penetrations were possible. I would say it really depends on how much luck you have. On the first try, I unload all my 50mm mortars plus I have 2 Maxims firing ft2t at that PaK, it still managed to get all my T34s. After the game, I looked at the unit and see they lost only 1 man. Go figure. [ September 02, 2002, 11:03 PM: Message edited by: GriffinCheng+ ]
  3. Select the "cover arc" command, move your mouse pointer to the first point where you want the arc begins, and you should see a light green line extended from the selected unit. Click. And then move the mouse pointer to the second point and while you are moving, you should see a sector forming. Click again to the point where you want the arc ends. That is! Mind you, the arc "moves" along with your unit. AFAIK, the arc disappears when your unit paniks or moved out of LOS. Hope this helps.
  4. Many of us from the good o' days asked for that but too bad it is not going to happen right now. We understand the reasonale behind so we don't whine. (Edit: There is a great utility for CMBO which allows you to replay the whole battle from your PBEM files but sorry I lost the name and the URL. I guess it should work with CMBB) [ September 02, 2002, 09:17 PM: Message edited by: GriffinCheng+ ]
  5. NO Spoilers Alert! Well, that really reminds me of the days of Harpoon/II/III. You dedicate a sector of where a unit should pay attention to. From my little experiment with the Tutorial, it works well with support weapons too -- so long as they are not moving. I wish many new, and good stuff could go back to CM:BO, but I know, I know it is not going to happen until CM2. Regards.
  6. The "death clock" (sounds a tag odd to my taste) brings all the wonderful memories of the old "M1 Tank Platoon II". When I killed a soft-skinned AFV like BMP-2 with a SABOT, it just stopped. So I usually reassure myself by sending a HEAP round which usually ends up with a shower of sparks or explosion. Great game!
  7. My eyes nearlly filled with tears when I started the German version of the Demo yesterday afteroon after seeing the details in the interface, trees, swamp, soliders and AFVs. After that, I lost 95%-5% as Allied. I am sure there will be tears when I get the full games in my hands. Did someone mentioned T-74? I though there were T-34 and KV-1s in the game and T-72 is something way later. Nevermind.
  8. There had been much discussions about canister rounds in CMBO around the time of Gold Demo, iirc. And well, I think VT rounds were more effective in the Western Front but I am afraid it is not in CMBO either.
  9. I stand by KD. I don't think I need more demo scnearioes right now. If you wanna another scenario, wait for 3 other weeks! I have gone through the CMBO Beta Demo days and there is nothing that I cannot wait. If you get bored with the current set, I recommend you guys come out and play MP with them, I guess you can have tutorial PBEM, right?
  10. Darn! This game requies old hares to relearn everything! Good job! That sound more fun! Thanks for the tips fellows.
  11. Thanks Matt! Get some sleep. Or get drunk, I guess that will do!
  12. I got 95%-5% loss as Russian with extreme FoW also. The guns are very difficult to ko! Will try again.
  13. I would like to give me heartily thanks all for setting up the mirrors. The one on chiseltip.com actually sends the file at 96KB/sec, to my home via ADSL. Regards.
  14. Just installed the German version...humm let's see...gotta run for the date my friends...enjoy!
  15. I really can't wait...I get the German ver @48.3KB/sec but the English takes more than 3hrs to go @4.9KB/sec. Okay, the subject says all. TIA.
  16. NP KD, always your customer. I am getting the German version right now. I am wondering if I should call off a date... Anyway, "I have told you so!". You good people should plan more mirrors from the start. That reminds me of CS & DoD...
  17. Thanks for the link. I think I could understand some German so I am getting it now. Humm 47KB/sec, it is handsome! Trying it in less than 20 min...
  18. Too bad, I tried but it goes from 4.1KB/sec (Mozilla 1.0) to 5.1KB with (DAP)...I am using ADSL here and getting it from CMHQ(?) site.
  19. KD, I am d/l from ftp.combatmission.com right now but it is just around 5KB/sec here in Hong Kong and I am using some pathetic ADSL link... if there is any links that we dunno, please post it asap. From somebody hasty.
  20. No, both links does not work! Hey, they should start mirroring some 3rd parties sites and I asked before. Too bad they did not do it...
  21. Since I livein the zone of GMT+8 which is 13hrs ahead of EST / 12hrs with daylight saving. I guess I would be sound asleep by the time! So, I am going to be late at work on Monday! Fingers crossed, people!
  22. Matt and guys from BFC, Any plans on mirrors on the release day? I can understand you people are working extra efforts on the demo so I cannot ask for too much. TIA. Regards.
  23. Well, I am gonna to take a shot of "Griffin's Whiskey"! i.e. Lemon-favoured Diet Coke with a lot of ice!
  24. Hal, what up? What's the matter with your old a/c? Anyway, I am expected to be at home around 2300 next Mon. I am very bz coming Sun. Does this sound okay to you? See ya.
