ROW Vets: Who's staying with CMBO?
Schugger replied to Treeburst155's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Still enjoying the good ol' CMBO occasionally. It has been a long time since I have played any competition games, though. The game will remain on my HD in eternam (or until the latter explodes)just for the fond memories I have gaming it. BTW, hi Sergio. -
Vickers... What's the point?
Schugger replied to -Havermeyer-'s topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Is it just Marximus and me who have noticed that all HMG units are very effective if you team them up with an ordinary Rifle squad? It seems like you get a small combined arms bonus when a rifle and a MG unit "gang up" on a single enemy. -
Commanders and Arty Spotters
Schugger replied to FUBAR'D's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
From my experiance HQ boni do not have any effect on the time delay for spotters to call in artillery. -
About the Eurowarrior Jerk Of the Month award...
Schugger replied to eurowarrior's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Interesting so far. Especially one sentence caught my attention as untold wisdom is hidden in so few words:
quote:
Alot can be determined on how one communicates with others and how one acts.

Someone is toying with handgrenades here. -
Never underestimate the cunning AI

quote:
Originally posted by BloodyBucket: So, Schugger, one vote against the SS. Just a political thing, or is there something within the game that you don't like about them? Why the British army?

Well, I think it is both. It is that my cyber SS Heinis smell that I don't hold them in high regard and, consequently, they do their best to dissapoint me in any battle. For the Brits, I just like the their army organisation in CM ( TO&E?). Even in a small QB with 1500pts you can afford two full companies, get a lot of Piats and 2" mortars.

You are definately not the only one There have been many discussions about FT units and the best way to use them. In short: They are much easier to use in a defensive role and tend to die quickly if used in an attack as anyone with LOS to an enemy FT unit switches target to it.
quote:
Originally posted by Monty: I can't stand the Klingon's. Hmmm, are the Klingon's in CM ? Sorry, wrong Forum Beam me up Scotty!

No intelligent life in this thread? I don't like playing SS, but they hardly qualify as nationality. I enjoy playing the British Army ( lots of infantry ) and Heer ( with lots of Rifle squads ).

Really cool stuff, Scipio. Your sound mods are a must have.

Will there be CM2 in CM2?

Is this one of those "leave your brain at home" threads? It hurts but I did not get the point, honestly. -
I want to drive things kaput in CM2!!!
Schugger replied to Scipio's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Oh well, I can live without collisions. I really don't like to enter a firefight after my own tanks steamrolled my groundpounders and my HTs explode in a volcanic eruption when they tried and failed to move in coloumn on a paved road. -
Ive won so many games Im getting bored
Schugger replied to KiwiJoe's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Reichmann, I don't know if gamey is the correct term for using a "nationality mix" and if both opponents have not agreed to restrict their force choice you could hardly criticise him for doing so. -

You are not the only one. Someone posted that he has lost 100:0 in a PBEM a long time ago in one of the demo scenarios ( don't know if it was the gold or beta demo ). Does not happen very often, I guess. BTW, my condolences -

quote:
Originally posted by Babra: Apparently, a little known combat film of the event shot by one Hauptsturmfueher Zapruder has some curious anomolies. There's an unconcerned-looking Frenchman with an umbrella, and what appears to be another Tiger just visible behind a grassy knoll. Oliver Stone has picked up the movie rights...

Holy crap, Babra this is truly hilarious.

Forward Observers and Snipers

quote:
Originally posted by Dunnee: who said I didn't use sharpshooters correctly? That is an interesting story, where have you found it? -
dmart, I have that mod you are looking for but - chaos rules - I couldn't find the approbiate zip folder. If you have an idea which bmp.files are necessary I'll send them to you via e.mail.

quote:
Originally posted by nedlam: Sorry, wrong Forum... Nedlam

No why? Defending with green troops vs crack ones and come out victorious is not bad. I lose on occasions with Wittmanns Elite Tiger against consript and green tanks led by the AI. However, it has been mentioned many times that the AI is better at defending than attacking. Try the same thing when you have green attackers vs crack defenders.

Your Greatest / Wierdest Ubertank Kills?
Schugger replied to CombinedArms's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)

quote:
Originally posted by Warmaker: Becoming quite fond of the 50mm.

They are definatlely worth their money; High ROF, difficult to spot and very cheap. This gun stood alone in the tide of attacking US forces at Remagen and knocked out several HTs, two Stuarts, one Priest and a Pershing (!). I was as surprised as my opponent was when his heavy tank exploded.
