  1. There's been a lot of good ones over the years but these stick out in mind. They are not ranked in any order... Run Silent, Run Deep The Enemy Below Empire of the Sun Battleground Saving Private Ryan The Blue Max Band of Brothers The Pacific Tora Tora Tora Das Boot Twelve O'clock High Cross of Iron Best Year of Our Lives
  2. Should have been more clear on with my question - just wanted a US perspective. While I agree with all that you posted, I think the AAF took a while to get things the way they wanted when it came to close air support. In any case, will wait for an answer from BFC, should one come. Like most everyone else, I am ready to pre-order!
  3. This entry serves two purposes. First, the Air Force Historical Agency (http://www.afhra.af.mil/) is now offering some of its holdings on CD and this includes group records. I thought I would let everyone know of my experience in case anyone else may want to obtain documents from them. 1. I ordered the documents for the 358th Fighter Group since they provided ground support to the 70th Infantry Division during Operation Nordwind and later as the division fought its way into Germany, eventually capturing Saarbrucken. 2. The order took eight weeks to complete. The cost was 30 bucks and I received 2,000 pages of documents pertaining the group. It contained all documents related to the group from activiation to the end of the war. 3. Quality - It's a mixed bag. Some of the documents are very readable while some cannot be read. The copies are only as good as the source material. This isn't stated on the website but is stated in a letter that you receive with the disc. Now for my second question, can we get a basic idea of how air support may be handled in CM:BN and later as the game/modules are released? I know that it was in its infancy at this time and did not have the co-ordination of the latter part of the war. Thanks in advance!
  4. The 6th SS Mountain Division saw plenty of action in Finland until 1944. It later showed up in Operation Nordwind, where its two Regiments, the 11th and 12th, saw extensive action at Wingen-sur-Moder, France and Reipertswiller. Once Nordwind was called off, the remnants of the division fell back into Germany, eventually wiped out by the 71st Infantry Division. For an excellent account of the division's final days I recommend the book, "In Final Defense of the Reich" by Stephen M. Rusiecki.
  5. I don't care when it is released as long as it is...I will await the day.
  6. Patches? Patches? I don't need no stinkin' patches! I'd like a Normandy bone! Seriously, with the series of release announcments on BFC's main page, I keep looking in anticipation for a long overdue Normandy bone to be posted...perhaps one day.
  7. Since I play strictly PBeM, I play back my opponent's turn as many times as necessary to get an idea of what may be going on. That in effect becomes my event log.
  8. Seems those weapons the soldiers were admiring were of WW2 vintage...what a bone for CM:WW2.
  9. If anyone is looking for order of battle info - try http://www.alternatewars.com/CARL/Nafgizer_CARL.htm
  10. Looks like it will be a fine Christmas (barring unforseen circumstances!)
  11. Got an id from another board saying its an adapted French 75 on a PaK mount. Possible?
  12. Just returned from my grandfather's WW2 division reunion. As usual, I always come back with pictures. The gun the 70th Infantry Division soldier is standing next to appears to be a German AT gun. Can anyone confirm this?
  13. Wouldn't you know it - expected to go on sale later this week and I will be out of town through Sunday. Looks like I will be keeping my trusty laptop by my side!
  14. New driver from Nvidia 258.96 - downloaded it hoping strobe effect would be corrected...it isn't.
  15. Congratulations Mr. Culliton! Looking forward to CM:N and future modules!
  16. I am having the flashing issue also. Using the 257.21 drivers.
  17. I also noticed this - "Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher's book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge." My gut tells me to stay away from this one...couldn't find a website either.....
  18. It also looks like they have quite a few WW2 items for down the road but was disappointed that the Pacific Theater was not going to happen. I think the Guadalcanal would make an excellent one.
