  1. Second part of the title should read, "How will BTS use refenences from that film in the development of CM2?" After watching the film, I noticed a lot of urban fighting, both within buildings and under ground (basements and sewers). So will BTS implement a new urban fighting "module", so to speak? In other words, will we be able to fight more detailed urban battles amongst buildings?
  2. Oh yeah, don't forget about that. CM doesn't like overclocking. Fortunately now with my current setup I don't need to overclock anything. (1.2 GHz and 64MB Geforce 2 GTS) CM runs like a dream now. Only now I'm getting strange system freezes when I'm on-line. And it seems to have to do with if the modem dials properly. If it doesn't, my mouse will freeze and then I gotta hit the old "Reset button".

  4. I recently upgraded to a 1.2 Ghz and a 64 MB Geforce 2 Platinum. Boy what a difference it makes in gameplay! Before I had a Celeron 433 with a 32 MB TNT2 and I was always kinda careless with my orders mainly because the game was getting so jerky on big maps that I really didn't take the time to plan effectively. Now with a smooth scrolling map and whatnot, I take the time to scroll around in View#4 and set up my moves and orders effectively. ***Bit of a spoiler below*** For example I just played the original scenario "Fear in the Fog" by Wild Bill IIRC. I played the Amis and I clobbered the Germans because I took the time to set up a hellava defense in the town and woods line along the road to the left of the town. In previous attempts at this scenario with my old computer, I usually got smoked. I believe the main difference is that since now that I can scroll easier, the game is easier to play. **************************** So in conclusion, it really does make a difference with a faster computer. So for those that are still trying to play on a < 200 MHz system with a 4MB video card, do yourself a favor and get a faster computer. The difference will amaze you. I built this new system for just a little over $1000 USD. I used some parts out of my old machine, mainly the disk drives and my SBLive! soundcard.
  5. Well if they somehow upgrade CMBO to CM:Barbarossa to Berlin standards, then yeah, CMBO will still get some playing time. On a second note, what is all this bitching about logging in? I logged in once and am still logged in several days later since the board went back on-line. Try enabling cookies.
  6. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by hnh3_cm: Well, Maximus, you never use your brain, yet you keep that don't you? Or do you? Hmmm...<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I post on emotion. I don't believe you have to brown nose through some reference book before you make a post. I post what comes off the top of my head at the moment. If it's wrong, so what? Is there maybe a thread about the fine art of shoving dead vehicles out of the way?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Yes, you must use another vehicle that is strong enough to push the knocked out vehicle. A Halftrack can't push a Tank. Light Tanks can't push Heavy Tanks. And so forth. What vehicles did you try to use to push your knocked out tank?
  8. Well, Rob/1 never used it so BTS figured it wasn't really needed.
  9. Actually I thought the phrase: "FIX OR DO SOMEFINK!" should be abolished. J/K! I couldn't live without that one. [ 04-09-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]

  11. I still don't like it. FIX or DO SOMEFINK! As for the cookie thing Lee suggests above. The old Forum never did remember my name and password. I had to type it in everytime I logged in. Now I'm always logged in after I logged in the first time, So if you don't like cookies, that sounds like a personal problem to me. I like going to a site and it already knows who I am.
  12. I don't know, is it me or does anybody find it strange that CM was designed on a Mac G4 and that it is the Macs that are having all of these lock-up problems? Things to make you say, "Hmmm" Maybe if Mac didn't bring out a new version of their OS every 2 weeks (speaking facetiously of course) then maybe Mac users could maintain a constant setup for more than 2 weeks at a time. I'm sure glad I have a PC. Don't knock Windows and DirectX until you try them.
  13. Unfortunately Schrullenhaft is correct. Your CPU is, umm, how should I put it? ANCIENT. Actually you'd do yourself a favor if you'd just upgrade your machine. That Cyrix 166 chip ain't good for much these days. I just went to a 1.2Ghz machine for a little over $1100.
  14. Oops, just found out that there are 39 Volumes. Damn, thought I had'em all.
  15. I don't like this new horizontal navigation bar along the top right. I like the old vertical deal better.
  16. I recently did a new install and it hanged when it got to the point of installing the .mov file. Well actually it asked for a new disc. I'm like "What other disc?". I took the CD out and it had a "greasy" smudge on it. I wiped it off, tried the install again and it worked fine.
  17. Trying to play CM with only 32MB of memory? What were you thinking? I've been playing CM on 128MB since the beginning and it still wasn't enough. I recently upgraded, (see thread on this page "Upgrading VERY shortly...") and I went to a 1.2 GHz w/256MB along with a 64MB Geforce 2 GTS Platinum Ed. With all the hi-res mods I was installing, my poor old Celeron 433 wasn't cutting the juice anymore.
  18. Hi guys, How's this for a bargain? How about the First Edition Time Life WWII Book Set for just $2 per book? I think I have them all, 21 Volumes? My father picked them up at an auction today for $2 a book and was almost immediately offered a profit for them. I looked them up on a Rare and Out-of-Print Book site and the few volumes they had were going for $25 a book. Is that about accurate?
  19. Well gang, as of right now my computer is getting finished up at the shop. (I'm at work.) Here's what I ended up getting: ASUS A7V133 board 266MHz FSB 1.2 GHz T-bird 266MHz FSB 256 MB PC133 SDRAM (Note: They got in some of the A7A boards that support DDR memory and SDRAM and they are having problems with it.) 30 GB Seagate 7200rpm HDD-master 13 GB Maxtor 5400rpm HDD-slave(My old one.) 64 MB DDR Geforce 2 GTS Platinum Ed.
  20. stevetherat, The latest run-out was due to that BTS wanted to finish the v1.1 patch before pressing any more CDs. It had nothing to due with business problems or sales levels. But yes, CM has sold well since its release back in late June 2000. They ran out of the first supply in a matter of 2 weeks of which they thought that it would last for 2 months.
  21. Yes but who's gonna pay Steve Jobs for the Mac source code?
  22. Gordon, I've been meaning to ask you this, but what grass is that you're using?
  23. You'll be waiting in your grave to buy CM if your waiting for CM to be in stores. Because it will never happen. You buy CM from Battlefront.com. So get out that little credit card and click the Order button and fill out the information. Geez, it sounds like I'm talking to my uncle here.
  24. Yes, if either vehicle is hull down, it will show (label) that it is. Apparently the problem is that people are really not away of what hull down is and what it is in relevance to. Your tank maybe hull down to a target in front of it, but it may not be hull down to a target on its flank. It all depends on the the relationship between two vehicles and not just one. ie, It takes two vehicles (units) to determine hull down status. This is why there is no "Hull Down" command.
