Go tell the author of that mod that his beards are banned. Anyway, if your uniforms are labeled as New British Uniforms with the zip file BritUniforms.zip then they are there. If not, then they haven't posted them yet. However, I have finally found a way to tan out the textures. I have done a desert Universal Carrier and the Duece and a Half.

Now if you're referring to the uniforms at the DFDR site now, well umm, I thought they were way too bland. Just like English cooking, if you know what I mean.

  5. This is the main reason why I absolutely HATE QBs in CMBO right now. The map dimensions totally suck. Big long wide map with very narrow no-man's-land. In fact those dimesnions lead to the very opposite of good strategy tactics. Isn't the best strategy to concentrate your forces to break through a weakpoint rather than than trying to defend or attack over a W I D E front?

Windows may have its own stability problems of its own, but what makes up for it is Microsoft's DirectX API. You see DirectX takes care of all of the hardware and software issues itself. Kinda like a software plug-in-play if you will. DirectX makes sure that your sound and video cards are automatically configured for whatever program you are running. Or actually vice versa. No longer are PC users forced to manually configure their games to their hardware, ie setting IRQs, IO Addresses and DMA channels. Install the game and DirectX takes care of the rest. I laugh to myself when I see threads on how Mac users have such a hard time getting CM to run without locking up after 10 seconds into the game. For as stable of a game and being designed on a Mac as CM is, kinda makes you wonder why Mac users seem to have most of the problems. So yes, your 500 MHz Mac maybe faster than a PIII-800, so what. At least the PIII-800 doesn't lock up. But then again, lets look at this speed benchmark. To me, we're talking the difference between 3DFx cards and Nvidia cards. Yes the 3Dfx cards (Voodoo 3 family and under) were faster, but their image quality sucked. Nvidia cards (TNT2 and under) were slower, but they had better image quality and could display all of those "special" features that CM required for full effects like Fog & Transpariencies. That's the way I look at the speed difference between Macs and Windows. With Mac's limited Graphic File capacity, Mac users are generally limited to low-res mods or very few hi-res mods. With Window's BMP folder, it doesn't matter how big that folder gets. So as long as you have a good video card and a decent CPU and memory, CM will run just fine and look pretty too. So sure CM will run faster on a Mac will a majority of low-res textures installed. So what's your point? Load up a Mac with a bunch of hi-res textures and let's just see how fast it runs. So which one is better? I'm not sure. But I'd buy a PC before I'd take a Mac as a gift.

  13. Gents, I have just whipped up a new set of Brit uniforms for the DFDR TC mod. I based this set off of Magua's '44 Tommies, so I hope Magua will be OK with this as I did give him credit in my readme. Basically all I did was to increase the brightness and contrast of the dark brown uniform ONLY by masking out the straps and equipment. Sorry I don't have a pic to show right now, but hopefully Clubfoot or MikeT will get it up pretty soon. Oh, did I mention that I already fired it on over to them? So look for it soon on their website.

  18. This is why I would not take an ATI card if GIVEN to me. Why does everybody discount Nvidia-based cards? They make the best cards out there. Both in image quality and in speed. ATI cards are good for about one thing. Video editing and TV-out. They really aren't made for 3D games.

  22. I have hereby dedicated this thread over on the Cossacks Forum for the Award Gyrene has created. I doubt that that thread will get locked as that Forum is very rarily moderated from what I gather.
  23. Well, I'll tell you right now. Radeons don't support Fog Table Emulation. Which means you won't be able to see Fog in CM. I'd definately go with a Geforce. I've got a 64MB Geforce 2 GTS Pro Platinum and I love it. But you're board has to have an AGP Pro slot to use a AGP Pro card. And only some of the newest boards have AGP Pro slots, so you're probably stuck with a normal AGP card
