1. Ford looks good now. However the water color itself is a bit too dark, IMO. Can you lighten it up a bit or maybe add some light blue highlights (ie. white caps). But make sure that the tiles will fit together correctly.

This tended to screw up what few thoughts ran through his head, but Maximus didn't really care, because...

...he suddenly discovered that the United States really didn't apologize to the Chinese for the air collision incident. But in reality, the US only apologized for landing in Chinese territory. Because why should you apologize for some stupid hot shot jockey pilot who thought he was Tom Cruise in Top Gun. When in fact this whole sort of episode happens all of the time and it only transpired this way because of said pilot. Anyway, GriffenCheng+ was suddenly confused about all of this international intrigue when he.... [ 04-14-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]
 3. Manx, Just a suggestion, but could it be possible for you to post a screenshot of these new mods on the board here if the mod has not been seen or previewed previously?
 4. Are we to expect that the stock textures for CM2 will be equivalent to CM1 hi-res textures?
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by Rommel22: Maximus, Yeah, I don't know how to do that please tell me. How do I create a short-cut. Where is the desktop??? Is that in the CM directory? Please help me!

If you're serious, then OK. Creating a Shortcut is very easy. In this case, click on the batch file. Then right-click. From the pop-up menu, select...watch out, don't look! Create Shortcut The Desktop is the what Windows opens up to. The one that has all of your program icons on it, such as "My Computer" and "Recycle Bin". So for ease of use, you want to drag a Shortcut to your Desktop so you can click on it easily. What I have done is to create a Combat Mission Folder on the Desktop and I have put the Cmbo.exe shortcut there along with all of the mod shortcuts. To TwoShed and Clubfoot, I'm sorry if I came off too harsh. I'm not putting down the Mod Manager, it's just that as a 10+ year experienced computer user, I have no problem with regular file management. I started with IBM-PC's in the days of DOS 5.0 and started regular computer use back in the days of Apple IIe's so I'm used to tinkering with files such as autoexec.bat and config.sys, so I am fully comfortable with manual copying and what-not.
 6. The Yellow Directory Tree (links) are hard to read. How about Red? Also their font is a wee bit too small. Can you bump that up by 2 bits or whatever the term is. (Can't remember the typing term.)

Stunned, Gustav then recovered and said, "Well if that isnt the ****? I get a business going with your sorry ass and you get all upset about some silly thing about something called a '100th post'. 8.
quote:
Originally posted by 109 Gustav: Anything, including the bathroom after having a sixpack of Victoria Bitter is completely senseless. Even dumb uncultured Americans agree that that is a truly fine beer, much better than...

...your ordinary rotten grain beverage. For that is why Italians, such as myself, prefer distilled grape beverages. Nothing beats a good ol' Concorde Grape wine. Especially when it is hommade. But meanwhile, Mace was losing his argument with the bar patrons concerning his wife, the sheep. Mace decided to leave, but as he headed out the door, he bumped shoulders with Gustav and the two began eyeing each otherlike some sort of secret lovers. Gustav yelled, "It's not what it looks like!" to the bar patrons, "It's...
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Clubfoot: Does anyone actually dislike this tool simply because it's too simple.

Actually Clubfoot, you hit it right on the head. Reminds me back when Windows 95 came out. I thought, GEEZ, this looks like an interface for those that couldn't understand Windows 3.11. In other words, for those that have used DOS, the old manual file copying and what-not is no big deal. But for *new* computer users, I can see why batch files and stuff can be confusing. However, for those of us who understand file management, the Mod Manager is just another way to make an already simple method even simpler. In a way, IMHO, it insults the intelligence of us who *can* file manage.
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Monty: Who needs that stuff.. I just copied my BMP folder and threw in all desert files. When i want to go Afrika, i rename this folder to BMP and default to something else ( 20 seconds work ) and i am ready. You can make 10 different BMP folders if you want, each with different mods.

OH I never thought of that. I guess it would work, but that's not really what I was suggesting. You see, Gordon has made American and British versions of some Desert vehicles that share some textures, so a batch file system is kinda needed to switch between these two variants. Besides saves on disk space for just a couple of mods. Kinda silly to create multiple BMP folders to change just one or two mods, don't you think?
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Rommel22: Because of the batch files, I have no mods for allied vehicles whatsoever.

Sounds like a personal problem to me. They are really not that hard to setup an use. You said you can do a copy and paste. That's all you have to do with batch files. Copy and paste the batch files into the CMBO root directory instead of the BMP folder. And then you setup shortcuts to the batch files for easy access from your desktop. You do know how to create shortcuts don't you? What's so hard? Changing the icon? That's pretty simple too once you do it once. Oh I get it, you have a problem with double-clicking on an icon, right? Or is it that you can't follow the instructions that come with batch file mods? Like I said, sounds like a personal problem to me.
 12. OK, For all of you that have gotten into the DFDR TC mod, how many people use the Mod Manager to switch between different mods? How many would prefer the ol' batch file system? I ask because Gordon has done UK Desert Rat versions for the Stuart V, Sherman II, Sherman III, Sherman V, and soon to have the Priest. Also in the Beta Testing process are US versions of the M5A1 Stuart, M4A1 Sherman, and M7 Priest. In my current grubby beta testing hands I have a batch file set for all of the above mentioned mods except the Priest. So is anyone else interested in a batch file version?

Anyway, the main reason why the M1A1 Abrams version came out was so that it could incorporate the same 120mm smooth-bore gun as the Leopard 2 does so that the two tanks could use interchangable (same) ammo.
 14. Yes what he said. . Is it me, or does it seem like a lot of people are using the  smiley a lot more now?
 15. *Yawn* Hi mom! Dude, why play in two dimensions when you have three? Oh wait a minute! You gotta pay for this one? Please. With CM2 around the corner, who wants to waste $20 on SP when they can use it on CM2 a little bit later on? [ 04-12-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]

 22. Well, the main reason why campaigns weren't included in CM to begin with was because no single unit really traverses the entire war. Most units only particpated in only one or two campaigns. But then again if you are talking about a campaign that would cover the entire "battle" such as Market Garden or the Ardennes Offensive or the Operation Overlord itself. Then yeah, maybe this could be implemented. But I believe the reason why the largest map in a CM Operation has been what? 5kx3k? Correct me if i'm wrong. (Not at home to check map scale) Is because the average computers out there right now could not handle maps larger than that. In fact, with CM2, I understand the combat ranges are going to be much larger, so large maps are going to be very common, so who knows? Maybe CM2 could incorporate full campaigns as such. But remember even Market Garden took place over a 30 or so mile long road. CM2 large maps are one reason why I recently upgraded to my new Athlon 1.2GHz system. I wasn't about to try it on my old Celeron 433. [ 04-10-2001: Message edited by: Maximus ]

"Why am I the only one who has this dream?" he wondered. Then he realized . . .

...that Mace was posing as one of the women. "UGH! What an ugly looking woman that is!" No wonder no one else is having this dream. No one else could bare the thought of Mace as a woman. Only a person with as sick of mind that Maximus has could venture such a thought. However...

Did you miss the huge Enemy At The Gates thread a month or two ago that was locked? Do we really need another one? And what makes you think BTS would use a work of fiction and fantasy a source for their serious research? Are you pretending to be a newbie, or what??

Well I'm sorry I missed said thread. So whatcha gonna do? Sue me? I'm just saying that I finally got up to see the show and during it, I'm thinking how BTS might and probably will change the emphasis on urban fighting. That's all I'm saying. Because as CBMO is now, urban warfare, to be honest, is very abstracted. We have large stone buildings with abstracted floors and cover. IMHO, we can not have realistic urban warfare in CM2 without a serious reworking of the house-to-house combat model. Besides, I feel like a newbie with this all new Forum anyway, so there!
 25.
quote:
Originally posted by Gyrene: I agree, a system that can scroll the map and shoot LOS's smoothly is essential and once you play on a good system, it's impossible to look back. Gyrene

Yeah, especially since I have mostly hi-res mods installed including all of my uniform mods, my frame-rates were pretty much suckin' with my last set-up. Now, I can load large map, increase the scaling to 4x and it still scrolls like a dream. Not to mention it calculates the turn like nothing flat.
