Can anyone tell me where I can find
Dittohead replied to Mord's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
try www.cranston-military-prints.co.uk or www.milartgl.com Both can be found in WWII magazine Tony -
Don't forget that alot of the tanks that were knocked out, were able to be repaired and sent back into action. And an inoperable gyro did not render the tank non-combat ready and repairing it was not a priority. Plus as US tankers suffered excessive casualities many shermans were manned with very inexperienced crews as the war went on. Most of their experience then was probably engaging infantry with large moving tank on tank battles a rarity.

CM2 topic: turret speeds & the T-34

I believe the gun damaged result, includes the traverse mechanism. Maybe increase the possibilities of gun damaged on Certain tanks. -
This election is almost exciting as any CM scenario.

The Senate Judiciary first holds hearings on Supreme court nominees. Then they approve to go to the floor for approval. Jeff if you were truly a Republican you would not vote for Algore or be accusing the religious right as you do. Bush has not run around discussing overturning Roe V Wade. You talk just like a liberal, wanting to divide people not unite them. Bush will selct Judges who interpret the Constitution not redefine it. ------------------ "Rush for President" -

Isn't it odd in Florida that the Democrap Attorney General responsible for the Recount is also Gore's Campaign manager in the State. ------------------ Republicans define compassion as those who no longer need assistance. -

The sadest part of the election was that turnout was only around 53%. I guess maybe BTS has sold more copies of CM then we know. ------------------ Republicans define compassion as those who no longer need assistance. -

CM2 topic: turret speeds & the T-34
Dittohead replied to Grisha's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Fast turrets don't help much if you have a two man turret. Imagine the slowww rate of fire for T-34/76's and poor accuracy -
The Mad one also recieves all royalties when you use exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!. Damn now I gotta pay again. [This message has been edited by Dittohead (edited 11-01-2000).]

Well, we always have been and always will be the lone superpower when its comes to baseball, baketball and football(not kickball mind you). Why get involved in a war when some of your best ball players have to go and fight. [This message has been edited by Dittohead (edited 10-20-2000).] -

Panther turret speed revisited
Dittohead replied to Juardis's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)

quote:
As for things like Neutral Steering, all non-neutral steering tanks (which is just about every single last one of them) get a benefit for positioning their hulls faster. The bigger and heavier the vehicle, the more benefit since larger vehicles would have more trouble manuvering in tight spots.

The Panther, Tiger and KT had neutral steer IIRC so they gain no benefit from this approximation.
quote:
As for bigger gun overhangs, the Germans have far more tanks that would be difficult to manuver in tight spots than do the Allies (look at the JPzIV for example). So if we were somehow able to simulate tight spot manuvering (which I don't think we can) the Germans would be hurt worse and more frequently than Allied vehicles.

As you say Steve where is the evidence to quantify this problem. Yes there were places German Tanks had problems, but other than Kelly's heroes a good German Cmdr did not put himself in this position. We do know the turning radius' of all vehicles and some gain a huge huge advantage by being able to neutral steer in tight places. What about the open steppes of Russia where rotational speed is far more important when chasing T-34's. Should we penalize Panther's or KT for the same reason in CM2. If used correctly a vehicles shortcummings are easily avoided as most Tank Cmdrs did. Tony -
Panther turret speed revisited
Dittohead replied to Juardis's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Would not the compromise in faster rotation of the tanks with big guns and turrets be similar to the compromise BTS made for those tanks that can't neutral steer. I mean all tanks can turn on a dime regardless of their actual turning radius, and I don't see tanks that can't neutral steer suffering a large penalty when they do(even in confined spaces). So the point about panther and KT guns being caught up in the terrain should be handled the same as neutral steer issue. IMHO
quote:
We would also have to penalize these big tanks for rotation in anything but wide open space, since the massive overhang of the barrel meant that it might not be able to rotate at all in one direction, or at least limited traverse.

Tony [This message has been edited by Dittohead (edited 10-13-2000).] -
3 concrete ways U.S. is under-modeled in CM.
Dittohead replied to JoshK's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I for one, believe that concrete is correctly modeled in the game.
