  1. As a self-confessed mod slut, i was wondering if the repository on the BFC site is going to be "the" place to get mods and scenarios for the new series? Back in CMx1 days there were a loads of community sites hosting this stuff. I think at one stage i had links on my site to around 20-30 other community run sites supporting the game.
  2. Very early first impressions, Arty is deadly! Bocage fighting is brutal! Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "fog of war". Graphics are great! Sounds are great! All in all, a beautiful, beautiful game, and anyone interested in wargaming should buy it immediately. Congratulations BFC!!
  3. Ok....it's 03:45 now in the UK and i have just got back home after work so you can release it now. I can get a couple of hours in before grabbing some shut-eye. Thanks for waiting for me BFC!
  4. In the words of the great philosopher, Alan Partridge: "smell my cheese, you mother!".
  5. Thanks Mord! And when that one goes i'll use both.
  6. I'm sitting here at work pounding my mouse like there's no tomorrow. My wrist is killin' me!
  7. I've just heard this message broadcast on the BBC World Service - "crocky has a new machine, i repeat, crocky has a new machine". Surely, it means our time has arrived! Or, maybe tomorrow or somefink?
  8. The demo will arrive shortly after the green light starts flashing on top of the capsule holding the "brain-in the-jar" (aka Charles). This will signify that the digital output stream that is hooked up to said jar, has ceased transmitting code. When this will be is anybody's guess...
  9. Whilst i did buy CMSF + the Marines+Brits modules, i will not play them again once CMBN is out. Sorry, but the fictional NATO vs. Syrians war doesn't cut it for me.
  10. Although i've been AWOL during much of the CMSF years i'm glad to be back for CM's return to WWII - it's what BFC do best i think.
  11. Surely those who have pre-ordered should taste "first blood"? Forget the unwashed, undecided masses!
  12. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos Chris. Waiting for CMBN to be released feels exactly like it did waiting for CMBO all those years ago...absolute torture!
  13. CMBO had great support from fan-based websites hosting user made scenarios/skins/ etc., and some very talented graphic artists to mod the game when it came out, so i'm wondering if anyone out there has plans to actively support CMBN? I'm curious because there were 100's (1000's?) of user made senarios/mods for CMBO/CMBB/CMAK that had dedicated sites supported those games. I know from running such a site that i had at one time at least 20+ links to other CM sites that were supporting the games thru hosting scenarios, graphic mods, tactical guides and so on. As a self confessed "mod slut" i hope that the new generation of WWII CM games can generate the same level of interest that CMBO/BB/AK managed to attract
  14. I'm a relative newbie to RoF, but i'm very impressed with it. I'm more familiar with with jets, Falcon, Lockon etc., but if your used to any WW2 flight sims, flying WWI planes shouldn't be a problem. The terrain and aircraft models and very nicely done as are the graphics in general. The flight models are based on known data and the planes are nice to fly. I got the Iron Cross edition with a few extra aircraft thrown in, but new aircraft are being released for it that you can purchase seprately. Also, a new campaign system is being developed that will add alot to the game.
  15. Just got TrackIR 5 Pro, so getting that setup on a few games i play regularly - ARMA2, Rise of Flight, DCS A10-Warthog.
  16. @ WineCape I still remember the six handpicked bottles of SA's finest you sent over to England for me many years ago free of charge. They were all excellent my friend...all the best to you.
  17. I've been playing the CMSF series on Win7 64 without any issues so no reason why CMBN would not be compatible.
  18. I seem to remember coming across CM around the end of 1999. The promise of playing out WW2 tactical battles in 3D really appealed to me and i bookmarked the Battlefront site to keep an eye on it's development. I think it was the early alpha/beta AAR's on CMHQ that really got me hooked. Fionn's well written AAR's (anyone remember "The Sunken Lane"?) were brilliant in building up anticipation, and i purchased CMBO the moment it came out. I enjoyed it so much that i wanted to help spread the word about it and went on to setup a CMBO website called COMBAT MISSIONS. Originally i just hosted scenarios, then later mods (and plenty of them!!) and tactical articles. Can't wait for CM:BN
  19. Wasn't there also a Alpha/Beta AAR called "The Sunken Lane"? I seem to recall Fionn making that one. The thing i will always remember about early CMBO and reading the AAR's and finally getting the game, was the first time i played "Valley of Trouble". I still have nightmare's about that scenario to this day!
  20. Hi ya guys...yep, still here!! Nice to see loads of familiar names (the usual suspects) still hangin' around here. Spent the last few years catching up on some game time which i never had when i was running a CM site. Mord - good to see your still here. I ran COMBAT MISSIONS for a few years, then spent some time with Madmatt helping out at CMHQ. Looking forward to CM:N or whatever it's gonna be called. Hopefully it will generate the same buzz around it that CMBO did. I'm sure it will.
  21. At around about patch 1.03 or something, i started a thread named "Is CMSF fundamentally flawed?" At that time, and after 3-4 patches which still didn't appear to address some serious issues, i thought so. As of adding the Marines module + 1.11, i no longer hold that opinion. Nice work Charles and everyone else @ BFC.
  22. boog, i agree with your comments above 100%. My only concern about user created stuff for TOW is that it might be the complexity of the editors that will put many off making maps and missions. It's a time consuming process and how many have that time to spare? I would guess that most ppl will only ever touch the QBG and they would be happy enough with that. Myself, i hope to start mission making in earnest sometime in March when i should be finished doing a research project for the company i work for, but in the meantime i have been messing around with the mission editor, playing around with triggers, and just generally seeing what can be done.
