someone allready made conversions for CMBO check on this URL at the battles section and go the the letter A You will find a lot of ASL scenarios there http://www.dragonlair.net/combatmission/ personally I didnt like them defending with 2 padlocked 88 flak guns(with small field of fire) and 3 regular /green mixed platoons against crack /elite paratroopers with lots of cover and the advantage of surprise is not to funny for the defender

other funny thing hapened to me and Darren Norton in a recent game. A flak vehicle and a HMC are racing towards eachother on a small narrow road through the woods. Than it happened, they collided! After that the flak vehicle drove back and let the HMC pass on to continue without firing on eachother! -
sure, send it to me,email in profile. Bluefish maybe we can setup a PBEM with the new scenario thats to be tested? Henk

Conscription vs professional army
Stoffel replied to Tero's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I joined Dutch army in 86 till 89 Started as a conscript,in an armoured infantry batallion. Our training was tough and we were away most of the time on shootingexercises,NATO exercises, small company exercises, guardduty, parades and on marching was done once or twice a week if we had to go to a parade. Most guys that joined than did not want to but when they left after 14 months they were formed into a tough unit. Our army was made up of conscripts untill 1995 now it is a small voluntary army Because politicians decided we could save money. The NCO's are in a way happy with the new system. Many of them had to learn basic stuff to conscripts each year again, which most felt was not a usefull way to work Many of our conscript units won the annual Catshoots in Germany. An exercise between tankunits, and there were the best units most NATo armies could present! A lot of profis like US(M1) and British troops(Challengers) -

Cornelius Ryan wrote a book about the last days of Berlin(forgot the name) In it he said there was a unit which used captured vehicles and he claimed they had several Tigers Thought it was Pattons famous division 4th?? armoured, hell on wheels? Maybe this picture is from that division -

what is the worst scenario you played through?
Stoffel replied to russellmz's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
well names dont come in to mind so fast, but I really hate playing scenarios with green/conscript troops with a few regulars against crack/elite airborne/gebirgjaeger units -
well the Dutch name for my country is Nederland,(Netherlands in English)it has been for a few hundred years now. Holland is a province ,there are two ,south and North which cover a large part of the country so thats why you might see the name Holland on a map. Or (and thats a guess which might be true)the author of these maps made the same mistake But back to the topic, fun scenarios. I liked the one with the Tiger

tried it and did not get further than the town. Managed to kill 77 vehicles and inflicted 950 casualties Lost 550 myself and 31 vehicles. This was a Major allied victory

send it to me ,I will have a look at it. email is in the profile Stoffel -
there are no gamey units in this game. only problem is there are people who try to find gamey ways to use these units instead of using them for the purpose they were made for.

Scenario Design Map Question
Stoffel replied to jwxspoon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Far as I know you cant get craters and killed vehicles on a map. A way to do this is to make a two battle scenario Only place one or more FO,s on the map with some target reference points and let them blast away Digging in vehicles is possible though. You have to look at the parameters ,there you find a dig in command. During setup you can have them dig in at once -
I did this with the scenarios available in the test version of tacops 4 If you add the Tunguska Airdefense (2S6AAA)unit and the Khrizantema Air/ground missile unit to reds OOB than you loose a lot of the helos

just look at the annual tankmeetings in Germany. you will see that a lot of these exercises were won by Dutch crews in Leo 2's In many cases these crews were no professional soldiers but conscripts.......
-
the leo 2 is indeed a good tank. I think it can match up the M1 well enough, keep in mind that both tanks were developed out of the same project in the 70's a joint venture between the US and Germany It was a missed chance for the Dutch and German armies(I dont mentione German industry)by having no Leo units available in the gulf war. Furthermore I think that the French Leclerc MBT is a tank that can be compared with both the US and The German tank,so why not buy that one. Or is it that your friend doesn't like Americans ?
