Kill rate of German SP guns
Stoffel replied to Danny Chung's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
from what I heard and read is that these old revolvers were not so good for marksmanship. but off course I can be wrong -
when I hit a bmp in Operation flashpoint with my Carl Gustav rocket launcher the bmp blew up ,jumped up in the air and bounched a few times before it stood still so it should have been possible in CM too

a running man at 50 meters with a pistol?? not sure if I would believe that thats hard to achieve with todays pistols, and with these old 6 shooters this seems impossible to me. they would have been at 5 meters I think -

That is a very simple way to put it. But not quite true Overall the Panther is one of the best medium class tanks build IMHO hard to kill ,fast and a good gun germans suffered more from supplyproblems(spare parts/fuel/ammo) than losses by enemy fire if you ask me -

I wonder what happened to all these left over tanks, seems strange to me that most countries after the war like the netherlands, bought these old shermans from the US instead of using Panthers for instance -

Kill rate of German SP guns

most of the crews in these units were very good. A famous example is Michael Wittman who later became a tankcommander. Dont forget that they were used mostly in defensive actions, where they could profit from their low silhouet. So they fired there guns at targets moving towards them, killed some and retreated to the next defensive position. Its low silhouet made a tankhunter difficult to hit for a tank specially when the tank is moving fast I think that tanks survived not long enough because they had to fullfill offensive tasks too. -
what about a tourney for the rest of us?

what about a tourney for the rest of us?
Stoffel replied to Chad Harrison's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Hi Mike, As you know I played that tourney too got knocked out in the third round though this sort of setups are the easiest, and you know the problems some guys had to end their games, let alone the trouble you can get with 5 games so after all a knockout tourney where everything is possible seems the best solution too me btw did you find your tacops CD back again there will be a new version coming out at the same time as CM2 -

Thanks,no problem. At last thought there is one rule you should think of,no 14 inch artillery -

Stoffel replied to Chad Harrison's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
why not do a simple knock out tourney? create some weard evil maps like Iron Duke did,no rules no bothers on gamey things just fun play and get your ass kicked -
I had the same problems few months ago There are no things that cure your complaints, only slowing down playing. Or taking periods of rest between games/turns usually a few minutes after each half hour you played Exercising your arm/wrest/shoulder musscles is very helpfull too,go to a gym, where they have professionals who can help you or better a physiotherapist Other thing you can do is look for a mousepointer which can be clipped on a pair of glasses it is used by people whitout arms/hands but that is an exp3ensive option though.

Scenario Reviews on the Depot
Stoffel replied to Andreas's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)

Question about CM scenario design
Stoffel replied to Flak88's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
When you are finished with the map art work, click on review map Now you get to see the map with the units, place them where ever you want and padlock them. If you dont want to padlock them just place them where you want and tell a player to use the computer stick to scenario default hope this answers your question -

Ha LoL I have played all the big ones available on my new machine(1,4 AMD with 256 mb and a Riva TNT 2 card) it never took more than a minute to process a turn On the other hand when I tried that on my Compaq with a P333 and 64 mb and a 4mb card it took up to 4 minutes to process a turn for August bank holiday and many times the machine crashed after 3 turns

All these were scenarios send for playtesting,I did contact the authors. But it would be nice if future designers think about that before sending their scenarios
