I think they mean that they chat via ICQ and use its file transfer feature to swap PBEM files back and forth. For some people with poor connections this is a much more stable way to play than normal TCP/IP. Madmatt

Also make sure you arent running the game off of the CD. If you are then you cant save games (you cant write to the CD). The shortcut you use to launch the game should point to the Combat Mission.exe on your hard drive and not the one on the CD. Madmatt

BLOOD HAMSTER feud has been declared!
Madmatt replied to Abbott's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Ok, while this borders on a Cess Contamination Leak I am willing to let it go AS LONG AS you guys keep the insults purely between the two players involved. A good AAR is always acceptable and making it publically accessable even more so but just keep the Penishness to a minimum please as many people wont understand the references or be turned away from them. You might want to even consider starting a new thread with a slightly more revealing name (like with AAR in it!). Thanks! Madmatt -
Guys, This is an interesting post but I am gonna move it to the proper forum. Should have done so before. No harm done, just continue it over in the General Forum. Thanks!

I was not mad at all when I locked up that thread and I understand the need and desire by the community at large to want some cool CM2 info. I just thought it was funny that a thread would open up asking me to post CM2 info like I HADN'T thought of that or something. No damage done, I wasn't mad, aren't mad and to be honest RARELY get mad about anything I read here on the forum. But a topic like that isn't really needed to continue beyond the intial points which I thought were answered quite clearly. Will I post CM2 info on CMHQ when the time is right? HELL YES I WILL! Am I so incredibly busy with other stuff that it is keeping me away from updating CMHQ on a regular basis? Yes, sadly I am BUT I am also very close to finishing my current project which will free up some of my time to again apply to CMHQ. Don't forget people (allow me to pat myself on the back), CMHQ was the first real CM dedictaed site to thrive and expand. Really, you gotta trust me on this one, I know what I am doing! I WILL take care of you! Now, go and read some other more deserving thread...I am getting all misty here... Madmatt

IIRC the Hex is:FF00FF Which is also R=255 G=0 B=255 Note, that while on the PC there is a little more leeway with these colors than on the Mac. That means that you could have a 255,0.254 color (still looks pink) be transparent on a PC but show up as pink on the Mac, and thats normally what happens too. Madmatt

You'll All find this Amusing and Scary.
Madmatt replied to Franko's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I have enough concerns with the Forum topics without having to take care of peoples email issues as well. Your a big boy, you know what to do, now lets move on! Madmatt -

As much as we hate to see it happen we can not do much about a single pirate with his ripped warez copy of CM. I don't need to know that some guy named CheezegraterHeadz has a warez copy of CM and is bragging about it. However, when someone finds a website that is hosting a pirated version then I DO want to know as we can take action (and have in the past) against those sorts of sites and individuals. We now return you to the arts... Madmatt

Re-Installed Windows...Now Can't Run CM
Madmatt replied to Col Deadmarsh's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
Yes that error indicates that you need to re-install Direct X and I would suggest the newer DX8.0a that is available from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=27741 Madmatt -
Don't send an email to the sales address thouhg (you wont get an answer as it is so backlogged). Just email me all your order details (name, address, form of payment, expiration date etc..) to matt@battlefront.com and I will have a look. If you placed the order through the mail then YES it does take about a month (or longer) and that is why we urge people to order online. Madmatt

Ok, I have replicated this. I will let Charles know. Madmatt

Okay, the answer to the original question was answered on the first page. Therefore I am locking this up so we can all move ahead. Madmatt

My B.A.U. is running late. More info when I get the time... Madmatt -
Alex, Three things: #1 I did reply back to you in email and told you that as soon I had any info I would let you know. I do not appreciate the assumption that you made above that no one was in contact with you about this matter. As to the order confirmation email, some ISP's block that message as they detect it as SPAM, we don't know why this occurs and apparently neither do they... #2 Your order was a little unique in that you used your brothers credit card and it was expiring within just a few weeks of the time the order was placed. I also said as much in my email correspondance to you. and #3 The order shipped out on April 30 and you should get it in about 10 days or so. So, there you go. Enjoy the game and thank you for your order. Madmatt

Umm, NO, Combat Mission can neither be moded to be Real Time or will we ever code it to be Real Time. Now, to protect the innocent I am locking this up. Madmatt

Eh? Let me know guys if you see something like this... I wasn't aware of such a problem but I will keep on the lookout. Madmatt

I Miss The Combat Mission HQ Site
Madmatt replied to oddball's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Hmmm....Untested Area postings....I never felt real comfertable using that area (although it is MUCH easier for me to post there) as I felt it devalues the work that the mod guys put into their stuff.... Hmmm...I don't think I can ignore my public though....So I tell you what...Prepare yourselves for the: BIG ASSED UPDATE NUMBER 2 !!! or whatever number it is supposed to be... I can't say WHEN exactly I will get this done but I should have something by Sunday night at the latest....Oh and there are *things* in the works to keep CMHQ fresh on a daily basis...Many many things.... -
Just to wrap up what has already been stated here already: We are not going to attend E3 and I got my share of Booth Babes right here at my other weekend job as a bouncer. If you guys want to discuss E3 some more, and you are welcome to do so, please start a new thread in the General Discussion Forum. Thanks guys and have a great time if you go! Madmatt
