MikeyD got a reaction from Kinophile in Balconies: Tweaks?
Funnily enough, during Beta testing I can't recall any testers actually complained about balconies. I don't think there have been any changes. Perhaps we've simply grown used to the 'tactical difficulties' inherent in throwing troops onto a balconied floor. I recall a couple months ago quipping (half-joking) that if a scenario designer has put a balcony on a building in a scenario you should assume he's deliberately messing with you.

The AAR hasn't quite caught up to the latest Beta build yet. Helmets on uncons are now gone. Steve is still sorting out gear stowage on troops. As the battle progresses you'll be able to see the last remaining items on the to-do list getting done.

Ah! That third photo is the one I was talking about!

Well, its not the 'wrong' information, its merely information that's subject to change

MikeyD got a reaction from General Jack Ripper in Disappointed
There's always those people who will demand the game should accommodate a division's worth of troops, gargantuan maps, helicopter insertions, fights in sewer systems and beach landings, following the maxim 'Nothings succeeds like excess'. Its like complaining that a Lexus sedan can't also operate as a dump truck and a school bus. Sure dump trucks and school buses are handy, but that's not what the Lexus was designed for. and BTW. CM now does beach invasions

Game engine developed in the 1990s? Huh? If you're going to post ad hominem attacks get your facts right at least.

Yaaaay! Looks like fun!
I'm ashamed to say I had entirely forgotten about 'movie mode' despite being one of the original people to lobby for it.

MikeyD got a reaction from Sublime in M-26 Pershing..Super Pershing ??
I of course will NEVER find my references, but I recall debating the existence of M4A1E8 with Steve while putting together the CMFB title (years ago). The conclusion (based on now-missing documentation) was the M4A1E8 never made it into the theater before war's end. An M4A1E8 model was even built and made it into an early Alpha but it got pulled. You see them plainly enough in Korea, in Israel, in post-war France, in post-war Italy. They're hard to miss. Also standard suspension could be unbolted and replaced with E8 suspension, M4A1 (76) could have gone through a refurbish program. But not during the war.
What's MORE intriguing is AMERICAN Sherman Fireflies sitting in depot in Europe! Hybrid Chassis with fender extensions, which either means E8 suspension or double duck-bill track and suspension units spaced out from the hull. They were delivered to Europe but never saw any fighting.

It should be borne in mind (is that the correct turn of phrase?) that Steam is a 'parasite' organization. One of a growing number of companies who insert themselves between the developer and the customer and skim profits off the top. At my local gas station the attendant ask if I'm paying by cash or charge. Because 'charge' means the credit card company skims some of the profit off the top so they're obliged to charge more for the gas to make up the difference.

All I can do is add my own NDA-restricted non-specific enthusiasm over (redacted), (redacted) and (redacted). And you can quote me on that!

As an aside, yes, I did add water and an amphib landing to one of my old CMSF Marine scenarios and gladly suffered the consequences for it. I had wanted an amphib landing in that scenario since the day I first thought of it.

I'm reminded of my old hobby modeling days where, in surveys, the most popular vehicle was always 'not-in-kit-form-yet'. Kit builders clamored for a Cromwell kit then when it arrived it was met with a collective shrug. Being out of reach had made it more appealing than actually having it. BFC suffers from the same syndrome. No matter what is supplied there's always going to be that one 'not-in-the-game-yet' thing tantalizingly just beyond our reach

Looked into. ECM appears to work against radio IEDs. ECM strong, no boom, ECM off... BOOM! Radio IEDs have about a 20% failure rate, regardless, I believe.

Huh! It does have an EW option like CMBS but frankly I don't think anyone's thought to test that out yet with radio IEDs. I'll go run and give it a look. If it works as it ought in the final game it'll be partially because of you.

Here's an explanation of that FSA flag on the BMP door from the primary texture artist: The primary texture artist is an idiot.
