  2. I didnt think the ear drum was anything more than just a membrane and not a muscle. I dont think it can contract. What this sounds like are headphones that produce a sound that is 180 degrees out of phase of the gun sound effectively canceling the sound of the blast, to a degree. I have a set of these for when I go flying. David Clarke, Bose and many other companies that make headsets make a version of this for pilots. Makes for preservation of hearing for when we get older.
  3. Here’s the gargantuan, monumental flaw with this “represent the will of [its] people” proposition. You’ve an Iranian governor whose base are the poor and underprivileged that was “surprisingly elected”, not US style, but nevertheless “surprisingly elected”. Since when there’s any surprise election winners in western Asia? The mullahs have an imperfect parliamentary and presidential electoral system that’s better than all the dubious Middle Eastern US allies who don’t even hold presidential elections. Their leaders die with wills to bequeath power to irretrievably stupid heirs. But here’s the farce, you’ve a dictator General in Pakistan who came to power via a coup and displaced a democratically elected president who then represented the true “will of the people”. This Musharraf despot whose scientist A Q Khan proliferated nuclear expertise to the scum of the earth is Bush’s darling today. You think nuclear Musharraf represents the “will of his people”? Do you know if you hold free elections in Pakistan today who will win? That’s right, Bush’s “Islamo Fascists”. “The will of the people” is relevant only if it represents and suits Washington’s moods, direction, dogma and ideology. When the Turkish parliament practiced ideal democracy, upheld the “will of the people”, refused America’s $30 billion package and declined US deployment in southern Turkey, I bet Rumsfeld commissioned the Pentagon to devise a plan to nuke Ankara, after toasting Paris that is. By the way, who won the “will of the people” in Palestinian municipal free elections this week? Who? Hamass. </font>
  4. Frankly I enjoy the back and forth discussion. As long as there is no name calling.
  5. All it takes is one nuke tip Scud. They dont have to be that accurate. And the Israeli's version of the Patriot is not all that great either. I can see Israel marching all the way north up the coast of the Med, through Syria into Turkey, and then back down and west into Egypt and Libya THEN east into Iraq and Saudi Arabia, Iran, and then taking on Pakistan...it doesnt have necessarily have to be in that order. Yea, the Arab's should be REALLY scared. The only Western countries who give a damn are the French and Russians...only because they sell weapons to Arab countries. The US couldnt invade even if we wanted to. The US population would have none of it and the US's "mighy Army" is spread thin. Besides the US does not need to invade Iran. There is the prevailing idea that the Gov't of Iran does not fully represent the will of it's people anyway. Yea right. It worked so well the first time with the UN when the US tried to get them on board to invade Iraq, good ol' Dubya thought he'd try that tried and true idea again. You have some good points here.
  6. I would think that since it will be 3D and the units would be individually represented, there would have to be some basic animation of...say...soldiers butt-striking with their rifle at least. Although, soldiers doing jump spinning heel kicks in slow motion would be teh bomb!
  7. In these Israel Good/Israel Bad discussions, the people who have a predominantly jaundiced view of Israel seem to forget that there ARE Arabs living in Israel. And I dont mean on the other side of the wall the Israelis want to build. They live amongst the Jews. They also have the opportunity to raise their families the way they want to? Am I wrong? Now I will admit that I do not know how they are treated by the general population in Israel...but to me, the fact that Arabs do live in Israel seems to be a good thing. The problem here, as in every civilized society, are the far, far, extremists on either side of spectrum.
  8. That's one incident. You originally stated Implying several such incidents. </font>
  9. YES! A patch! I knew if I stopped watching the pot to see if it would boil something would happen. Glad to hear the joystick axis option is in there.
  10. Hehe, Nice video. I like the soundtrack too. Well done.
  11. I think I hear the "Axel F" song playing from Beverly Hills Cop.
  12. It tooke me a bazillion tries as well before I finally beat that damn mission. I got it down to a science finally. Schmeisser does what I do. Wait for the T34's and then take them out. Then I try to take on the T-55's one at a time. Then sit and wait for the Jeep. Voila! DONT GO IN THE VILLIAGE. BAD!
  13. Sometimes I just wish they would keep their idiocy to themselves.
  14. What is the point of the National Guard and the Reserves? I thought the NG was more "home guard" and the Reserves were kind of a stop gap. It seems they are both being used as stop gaps, and then some. Is the regular Army trying to get bigger? It seems dangerous to me to have to rely on anything but professional soldiers (no disrespect to the National Guard or Reserves).
  15. It is interesting, there is no one below the rank of E3 in a Stryker Brigade. According to the above graphic.
  16. After the discussion about the KIA and WIA and bodies I wondered about actual death animation. Since 1:1 is represented and the graphics are going to be so great, what about death animations? What will happen when a soldier is shot? Will he just fall down? It would be a buzz kill for me to have such good graphics only to see a soldier who has been shot or hit by shrapnel to have something lame like two stage animation: soldier shot, soldier on ground. Not that I expect that to happen. But for me a good death animation is a must.
  17. Interesting choice you guys made. Im up for it. Since buildings will be modeled with such detail, in many respects, it sounds like room to room fighting will be possible. And since night fighting will be a part and dynamic lighting will be used, what about tactical flashlights on the guns?
  18. US Navy 98'- 02'. Enlisted. I thought I wanted to be a SEAL. No regrets. I tried. Ended up on the USS Mt Whitney (LCC/JCC-20) or as my aunt calls it the "The Mt Whimpey". Played with lots of guns, I got quite a bit of 25mm trigger time and even got to shoot the Phalanx. Made E5 before getting out. Kind of wished I stayed longer to enjoy that. But damn glad Im out. By the way...congratulations CaptWacky. Good luck to you. I dig the sig by the way.
  19. AAAAH! I just googled and found it. Its an old one. Surprised I never heard of it. I will have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up!
  20. As far as infantry go. I try to keep them around me as much as possible. Nice for close support. Plus it just gives me a warm fuzzy thinking that they might keep those gall durned RPG gunners away. As far as AP for anti-aircraft...whatever works. Although that AA gun on top works great too. The only thing is its hard to find anything with that sight. You have to use external view to get you in the general area. Let me get my two cents in, in regards to AP or HEAT. From what I understand HEAT is more than enough for light armored or soft skin vehicles while AP is overkill and probably a waste. The AP round has a better chance of passing clean through an APC without damaging anything vital or killing anyone as opposed to the HEAT's high explosive content which does have a better chance of damging something vital or killing EVERYTHING inside. Too late...looks like you started another discussion here. Pucker, eh?
  21. Dont you mean "Space Lobsters of Doom: The Chef's Revenge"?
