  1. Grog Dorosh, For shame. Chamberlain's British and American Tanks of World War Two, page 91, oh look, the Stuart Kangaroo. http://www.siemers.com/html/usa/m3_m5_lighttanks.html under British, oh look, the Stuart Kangaroo. A google search finds all sorts of places that sell model kits of the Stuart Kangaroo. Osprey's M3 & M5 book also mentions the Stuart Kangaroo. Rune
  2. Running it with home and professional. Only gotcha so far is if you have a nvidia card. Graphics are corrupt on some screens if you do, just get the latest drivers at www.guru3d.com to take care of the problem. the 28.32 new release work just fine. Rune
  3. Without giving too much away. The first draft of the Royal Opponents was done already. Rune
  4. Siggi, The AI has NO advantage over the human opponent. Soon you will be defeating the AI no problem. Then onto pbem and tcp/ip. Rune
  5. My hands are kinda tied by the NDA at this point, so I cannot say what you will see or who is doing it...but I will say I got to ask some impressive names to do scenarios for CMBB. I am fortunate to work with some extremely talented scenario designers, and scenario testers. I think you will like what you will get... Rune
  6. Doc, If you just got the game, then it is 1.12 already and do NOT patch it and try. Rune
  7. Some clarifications: The 45mm Model 42 was designed in 42, hence the name, but production started in 1943. Source: The Red Army Handbook. The Soviets admit the ammo velocity dropped off sooner then their CALCULATED penetration on the model 37. Also the shells shattered more then expected. Rexford can post his source if he deems it necessary. For the Model 42, at 500 meters at 90 degrees, the Red Army handbook has penetration at 61mm. Rune
  8. The Russian 45mm is over rated by Jason. The Russians hated the gun and there was problems with the ammo into 1943. From rexford: Vasiliy Fofanov has posted, on Yahoo!Tankers site, that 45mm gun had trouble penetrating front and side armor of panzers beyond 500m during 1941. He stated that one of David Glantz' books includes material on the inability of 45mm anti-tank guns to defeat panzers during June 1941. Another quote: The problem was so bad, according to Fofanov's recounting of the passage, that the panzer crews referred to the 45mm ATG as the Russian equivalent of the German 37mm door knocker. And Valera states: Vasiliy is correct about 45mm AT-gun. This gun got unpleasant nickname "Proschaj Rodina" (Bye-bye Motherland) for its low performance. All this could have been due to
  9. Newlife, It has already been done, and rather well. Will look for it when I get home, as I don't remember who made it. Rune
  10. Andreas, I knew the German Artillery would bring you out. How dare you assume your grandfathers experience be correct against someone's guesses. LOL...trying to get me in more trouble with the troops that Fransico Franco sent to the East Front that was named after the color of the sky. Oh yeah, email to you enroute... Rune
  11. Marlow, How dare you bring actual accounts into that trolling. According to that troll, you are wrong. I supposed the accounts I read during the Bulge where the tds took out Panthers from the front were inaccurate too. Three seperate accounts so far I have read. Let's look at the facts..something that trolls despise. 1. The Panther glacis debate is still not determined. Rexford and others will tell you they have sets of data that contradict each other. 2. If you read the thread [can trolls read?] it was stated that the armor was baed due to a conversation with Livingston. That was all that was available when CMBO was relased. Oh gee, that was posted at least 3 times in the thread. 3. It has been told again and again that CMBO models the manlet of the Tiger as 100+ mm, variable from 100 to 300mm. Remeber the actual manlet drawing and rexford states 300mm might actually be too much? 4. German artillery is slower? Maybe it was due to their practice. Lets look at what a miniature game system states: http://www.fireandfury.com/artillerytutorial/artygermans.shtml Gee, delays up to 12 minutes. Luckliy BTS has never depended on another game system, and tries to get things right. Doesn't always succeed, but name me a better game. 5. Uber .50 cal. Hmm...Having actually gotten to fire one during training, and the bullet went literraly through a brick building...what is your point? 6. Optics interpreted low. Where? All optics are treated the same, mainly due to the lack of a definable percentage. There is a great WO study where the British tank crews use a german sight and claim it is better, then the scientists come in and say there is little to no difference. Who do you believe? How do you model this? 7. Turret speed was the average across the board. Yes, if I was revving the engine at a higher rpm i might be able to turn the turret faster, but give me the doctrine where the higher rpm [more wear on the engine]was standard practice. 8. More ammo for the US halftrack. Show me the ammo loads carried. you don't know but then complain about it? 9. It annoys a lot of people. BS! The majority think the game is great, perfect, no, but better then anything out there. 10. Oh yeah, the 20mm cannon. I actually have to agree...but I know Steve and Charles know about it. 12. Becasue the numbers were very small. I researched this and contacted several authors, and numbers never exceeded 30. Very small number.... Rune

  14. Steve summed it up best. We did have a conversation not seen, that Rexford and others saw as a way I suggested to model the variable armor on the t34. It was then I found out that the coding would not allow variations per tank. As Steve said, modelling perfect plate during this time span would not be accurate. Rexford, did you post the information about Krupp and the armor plate here also? So a number was reached. All in all, you can't please everyone. Also everyone should remember a lot of these findings did NOT come out until 20 months after the game was released. I think the game brought interest to the whole issue, as pre-CMBO I could of cared less. Imagine the whining when a Romanian 75mm has slightly better penetration then its German counterpart. Can you name the guns? Rune
  15. Misterkane, Since you did not bring up the Panther glacis, perhaps, maybe, just maybe, that reply wasn't aimed at you? I have no problem explaining things to new people, heck we all had to learn.. it is the people that come in saying it is all wrong [not you] and don't back it up that annoy me. Sorry you misunderstood. Rune
  16. What troll boy doesn't mention is that rexford agrees with BTS. As the war went on, the armor quality wasn't as good. I quote from Rexford: Miles Krogfus recently sent me some very valuable information on German weld and armor quality, as well as firing test data against Panthers from Aberdeen Proving Grounds (3 tanks) and Shoeburyness England (1 tank). The firing tests were conducted against glacis armor which had not been previously hit, and the the tanks had not burned. Miles' information shows that German alloy use for welding was cut starting January 1944. The firing tests show that glacis armor on 3 of 4 Panther tanks (Ausf A and G), when under attack by rounds which should not penetrate (17 pdr AP and APCBC, 90mm APCBC), developed cracks, sprung welds and allowed some complete penetrations that should not have occurred. If the manufacture of Panther glacis armor and accompanying welds started to stand a statistical chance of lowered resistance during early 1944, this would include a good sized percentage of Panther A tanks. So as we see from an author on the subject, that indeed the Panther glacis was flawed. Rexford even states in another post that it could go down to 75%, whereas BTS has it at 85%. Maybe with an engine re-write each tank can have a differnet armor value, but considering the game has been out 20 months, I think they did rather well. Ignore the trolls. They can't stand sunlight or honest answers. Rune
  17. Will assume you are a PC. Go into the cmbo folder and find and delete the preferences file. Next start up cmbo, it will prompt you for the desktop resolution. Set it for the same as your desktop and you should be set. If a Mac, Ignore me and someone will be along to help if you say it is a Mac. Rune
  18. the 23.10s were fine with CMBO, you don't need the 27.10s. Rune
  19. At scenario depot there is a scenario I created called Wittman's last hour. I based it on one set of facts I found.... Yes, the terrain was that bare, look at the photo from that site...... Rune
  20. No, the problem is the terrain elevation. The computer smooths out where the house is, if, for some reason, the terrain varies in height too much, the house will not appear. make it an even level around the house, and will bet it will appear. Rune
  21. Hmm...i get to tell JasonC he is wrong. There were 1549 Panzer IIIj made with the short 50mm/L42. production started March 1941 and the German designation was Sd Kfz 141. The actual order was for 2700 of them However, in December 1941, the Panzer IIIJ with the 50mm/L60 was produced. 1,067 were made, and had the designation of Sd Kfz 141/1. Sources include Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two by Chamberlain and Doyle. Rune
  22. Hiram, I assume you mean Cut Off! ? The 1941 scenarios does NOT come with the required game to play. Iskander, if you truely hate someone, play Kapelsche Veer and be the Germans. Get it now before MDorosh and I re-do the scenario. Rune Making scenarios for the Pool since before Andreas was edit free
  23. I have a nice scenario set in 1941, with things that explode and conscript human wave attacks. There are aircraft, a factory, East Poland, and strange looking things [NOT those things Bauhaus ] that look like a Bob Semples tank. There are also things that explode, and more things that explode. Try Cut Off! If you haven't played it yet. Canadians vs the Gerries. [Gerry Springer, Gerry Lewis [the French spelling], Gerry atric]. Now go away before I have to taunt you a second time.... Well, it did single someone out, and it did contain just the barest hint of a taunt -- "dink drink" (although I'm a-quiver to hear what the proper definition of that is) -- so, I guess I'm on.... As with SB yestreday, allow me the time to get home, get lit, and get online... I'm sure I can find something suitable Runeish for both our livers.
