  1. From what I had read, the Pershing did not have the gyro due to the gun size, and no other reason. However, let us look at what the British say about firing on the move: WO 291/90 Firing on the move from tanks. "With existing British tanks the effectiveness (hits per minute) of shooting on the move is never greater than 1/2 that of stationary fire under similar conditions and is often 1/20 or less. The Westinghouse gyro stabilizer produces some improvement". The "Movement is armour" argument was held to be confuted by results from a trial by gunnery instructors at Lulworth shooting at a target at 800 yards and obtaining 62% hits on a static target and 64% hits on a moving one. It is pointed out that the smooth, steady movement necessary to gunnery on the move does little to make the tank harder to hit. For MG fire, "...the number of machine gun bullets per minute that will come dangerously close to an anti-tank gun crew from a single tank firing on the move is very small." The best MG results, using the shoulder-controlled mounting in the Crusader and an expert crew, showed a reduction of one-half in hitting rate. "For average gunners factors of 1/4 to 1/20 or worse would be expected." For the main armament, it was found that "...a comparatively high percentage of hits can be obtained with a light gun in a free elevation mounting but that the rate of fire is greatly reduced by movement." More as i find it. Rune
  2. Nowotny is correct. Latest Build of XP, with an nvidia card, I get the problems, with an ati card, no problems. Rune
  3. No, just a general comment section one small place for each scenario, that way I can reply to people in one place, Be the easiest way. Rune
  4. Admiral. Yes, just a small section so I can reply in general about the scenario. I am not worried about scores, but I do read the feedback. How about a seperate section for CMBB for when the time comes? Rune
  5. email me when you get this, When I get home this afternoon I can go into Combatmission chat and talk with you there about it, or can finish up in email. There are a lot of variables, and I might have a scenario that fits the bill, or might be able to make one for you depending when you need it. Rune
  6. Also make sure you are loading the game from the hard drive and not the CD. If loading off of the cd, it will not search the proper saved games subdirectory for the saved file. Rune

  9. Admiral, I do look at the reviews at your site and see what people think of my scenarios. I would like to see, if you can do it and have time, that 0 is not counted in, it becomes a n/a type of thing. Make sure you state it it wasn't tested [AI or pbem] to use a 0 and then that number will not be able to be counted. I would also like to see the option to reply from the scenario maker. Yes, I can post a review, but that wouldn't be fair either. For example, one of mine got marked down for briefing, yet the reviewer has no idea that is what done on purpose. I could then explain why I went that route. Neither of these are critical. Just something from my viewpoint. I more then appreicate the work you are doing! Rune
  10. I say thanks the best way I know how, I continue to send stuff for ya to post. Hopefully it brings you people and some new people to my scenarios. Rune
  11. I am just finishing a fictional assault on the Rock of Gibraltar. A paratroop landing followed by an Assault from Spain of a Panzer Division. Needs to be tested for balance, then will release it. Making the Map was a pain! John, you up for testing it? You know how my scenarios are. Rune
  12. evil is always awake. Matter of fact, late yesterday I was working on a new evilness for the cesspool. It needs to be tested, then its wrath shall be let loose in the mutha beautiful thread. A fictional scenario based on a real world place. The German assault on the Rock. No, you twirps, not wrestling, I am talking about, of course, Gibraltar. Has another dared to play the Berli-Rune, aka Evil-evil [i yield the E to Berli, I DO believe he was called Evil first] battle yet? Rune
  13. John, For a really great time, ask Mace about the Bob Semples tank that he so dearly loves... Rune
  14. your target....he whose name shall not be bolded. Seniletea.... If agreed upon, One of us Prime evils will send you, your worst nightmare. No, not Peng sober...I mean scenario... Rune
  15. [The scene] In the darkness of the deepest part of the cesspool, a lone figure sneaks. He has the assignment to spy on the Old Ones of the cesspool. Mace doesn't remember volunteering...but with the alcohol consumption in the Land of Sheep, it is amazing he remembers his name. Staying in the darkest shadows, he approaches the Old Ones and listens in... Rune: "Add a pinch of SSN into the pot..." The second dark figure does... Rune:"Pour in the POD juice..." Again, the second figure complys... The second figure then speaks... "Add a dash of our inner croda" Rune does so, and a bright flash is followed by the shaking of the room for several minutes... The two figures gather close to the kettle, and start laughing a laugh so evil, that it almost makes Mace forget about sheep. "It is done. So evil...so totally evil that 8 small countries have already been over-thrown due to its influence. Who should tell the Cesspool about the ultimate evil we have created..." The two figures whisper and Mace does not hear... Rune once again speaks: "I will leave it up to you to tell the Pool then. The mere mortals do not have a chance....it is agreed then... Berli, go forth and tell the Cesspool what has been accomplished today..." Mace runs away in fear when he realizes that Rune and Berli were working together....
  16. Last post on this. I am full of myself? Ok whatever. I didn't list all my certifications cause paper mcses are a dime a dozen. I have all those you have plus hp sniffers, some cisco routers and more. Umm, oh yeah, I have beta tested for at least 25 companes in the past year. A lot more if you go back. I have hardware certifications from IBM, Compaq. Toshiba. etc etc. This just turns into a pissing contest, no one out there cares what we got..but I don't make statements about you without facts. Matter of fact, didn't attack you at all. i never ever said there was a legit reason for Crimson Skies. I said I can't discuss it and I can't. The problem exists with 12.40 and Windows ME and also with Windows XP and Windows 2000. I can go back to older drivers and the problem goes away. I am trying to find out what they changed from 6.50 to 7.17. Yes, you skipped the part where I said I am trying to find out the fix that someone else hopefully will use. He is correct, it has to do with the bmps and the fsaa. However, with the directx 8.1, at least in windows ME the problem got worse. It is why I think directx still has something to do with it. Or it might wind up a bug in directx, but like you, i don't get it in any other game. If I find something, I will post here. Hmm, i did find a note on a problem with Asus cards, but I don't have one of those. So i continue my search...
  17. Wrong question.. Why does it work with 12.40 and NOT with a newer version 12.90? Why are other games broken with 12.40? What do I know about operating systems? Gee, I work with NT for a living, supporting it, 2000 and soon XP along with sql server. What operating system has just as much code and is more stable? Take a look at OS X. Hmm...Linux maybe? Why should they say it doesn't work with Windows 2000, when it just doesn't work with fsaa of a newer version of driver with one brand of video card? Remember, and you ignore this point, it worked with an older version of the drivers. I don't speak for them. However Matt did and you still ignored it. I still think it is something between Directx and the drivers, and at least I am trying to get it resolved, not just lipping off. I will forward what I find when I hear from the developer. Rune
  18. Let's see. Do I do what MS does. Hmm, appearently not, as I only have been beta testing for them since windows 3.1. They only publish you say. Gee, if you talk to any of the developers, they seem to do more then that. Oh that's right, you know more about it then someone ACTUALLY doing the testing, and/or is working WITH the developers. As for Crimson Skies, you don't know the story behind what happened, and I cannot disclose due to NDA. As for Beta testing, one of the cool things is the developer sends out a list of known bugs. hey look, same problem as CM. You are right however, I am grasping. As for MS being right, if you knew anything about their operating system, you should know that windows 2000 released with over 1000 known bugs. So saying they wrote the operating system is sarcasm. My fault, on that I could of been clearer. As for the issues I have read on the forums with the 12.90 version of drivers, is spots appearing on the screen in Falcon. Users have recommended going back to the 12.40 dima, here is a hint to you, there is one person coding the game. Someone moderating the Peng thread has no impact on anything. As for the other issues of course it is possible, it could be voltages from the motherboards, ala the k7 motherboards, it could be additional software, it could be users did NOT completely take out the drivers and reset to vga BEFORE upgrading. It could be that the fsaa worked before and now with newer drivers it doesn't. It could be a cross between MS directx and nvidia drivers. It could be trying to fix something that is constantly changing is a waste of time. It could be that the agp 4X isn't working right with NT2000, and SP2 came out. It could be that fixing it and then nvidia changes something meaning it would have to be re-coded AGAIN. It could be that Microsoft states clearly that NT 2000 is NOT a gaming platform. All of these point away from saying it is the game. Personally, i have asked some people I deal with if they find what the issue is on another game to let me know and I will let Charles know. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by jpinard: Come on Rune, read what I was atually SAYING. The titles mentioned as being "not yet released"... They are not released for a reason buddy... They still need to be programmed and bug-fixed. Also, did you not realize that MS does not "develop" its games, it has developers program games. MS simply publishes them. Any idiot would know that if a game was ready for prime-time it'd be released, due to financial constraints of game companies. Oh WAIT!! Most games are released in BETA state these days. Hmmm Rune, do you remember a game called Crimson Skies??? An MS "published" game. Yes, that game was in such poor state upon release it overwrote your saved games when you played on-line. Just one of a hundred bugs. So your argument for an MS published game (MS knows what it's doing, it's NVdidia's fault...as you stated)having problems with NVidia drivers holds ZERO weight. Like I said, you're groping. I bet the people having trouble with their computers (and blaming NVidia) actually have anti-vuris software, Norton tools, emergency recovery software etc... All these programs creat major problems for games, plus they are resource hogs. [ 07-09-2001: Message edited by: jpinard ]<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
  19. Let's see....if I have the game and the documentation from Gas powered games, and it's publisher Microsoft...maybe I know something you don't? Yes, Microsoft can't program at all, after all it is only their operating system. I also have had Windows XP too, and have the same problem with the fsaa. Oh wait, it isn't out either, so guess I don't know that either. Bottom Line: You said no other game is having the problem, I proved others are. Microsoft says Windows 2000 is NOT a gaming platform. Let us put the blame where it should lie, and not on BTS. The problem still exists on Directx 8.1. Oh wait, it just went public beta. But I have had it for months...hmm... Claiming the other publishers are nobodies is a cop out. How many forums you want me to post with people having problems? Yeah half-life counter-strike is a minor one too. Rune
  20. BTS is blaming nvidia...hmm lets look WWII Fighters - problems with drivers Dungeon Siege - problems with drivers Falcon 4 modified for directx- problem with drivers kdm -problems with nvidia drivers xfree86 -problems with nvidia drivers Microsoft Baseball online- problems with nvidia drivers Virtual Sailor 3- Problems with nvidia drivers Waterrace- Problem with nvidia drivers Counter-strike Problems with 12.90 drivers M3Dzone has a forum with discussions on nvidia driver problems. From Anandtech If you haven't gotten the hint by now, there were definitely some frustrations regarding the performance and reliability of graphics drivers under Windows 2000. The same frustrations carried over into the game developer market, as quite a few games simply would not work under Windows 2000. Even today, recently released titles such as EA Sport's NBA Live 2001 aren't fully supported under Windows 2000. Whether it's a combination of Microsoft's unwillingness to realize that there is a group of enthusiasts out there that do play games and want the robustness that Windows 2000 offers, or it's a lack of developer/manufacturer support for the platform as a gaming solution, it is clear that there is a problem. I can go on and on with quotes from anything from tom's hardware to anadtech, to nvidia sites to .... Just hate seeing BTS blamed for a problem that is a lot more wide spread then you think. Rune
  21. Lets look at some of the story behind the evidence that tero states. 1. It made a war time publication. Hmmm, the Dupray article is from 1986 and is an oral rememborance. 2. I have a war time publication that tells me how the Sherman was superior to the Panther. Take these with a grain of salt. 3. Dupray own article tells of how they didn't do well in the hedgerows. That place him in the 90th Infantry Division when the unit was suffering under mismangement. I quote: "The 90th Division entered W.W.II combat in Normandy on D-Day and fought across Europe continuously until V-E Day. During these eleven months, it served under six different division commanders; the first two swiftly proved themselves inept and were deservedly relieved; the next two were great combat leaders who were rapidly promoted to higher ranks as corps commanders; the last two were able, competent leaders who did well by the division." 4. In your own quote, Dupray claims by the end of the war the unit didn't have that problem. So, between July of 44 and Apr 45 it has been fixed. Perhaps it was more of a bad training, bad leadership, heavy casualty thing then one of a national failure? When would this national doctrine change during the 11 months of combat? 5. Quoting the 101st commander doesn't prove a thing either. That 25% only fired their rifles has always been debated. HOTLY i may add. Sorry, in my eyes you have proved nothing. I require more proof then this to sway me to your side of the arguement. Rune
  22. You can't. This was seldom done without hours of preperation. There were a few exceptions but the bridge was normally blown before the enemy got close in case there was a problem. Try a trp, a spotter and a bridge if you really want to do it tho. Rune
  23. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by PawBroon: Blah Blah Blah... Rune that scenario was ARGHHHH!!!<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Why thank you PawBroon. I hope it kept you up late at night, a loss of hair, foul body odors, and the loss of connection to netmeeting. [being french, most of these things already are happening] It is so satisfying to know how much pain my scenarios can cause. It has been modified slightly and is ready for the Seniletea drubbing. Peng, are you up to the challenge of beating him with him using the [gasp] Dudley Dorights of the North? Rune
