  1. I will await Buzzsaw's first game before I send him on that quest, fair lady. After all, he can be demoted to SSN again, as I have not heard a word since he challenged the Canadian one. Rune
  2. OK, here we go: Saturday, 1-6 PM, no earlier since I have a soccer meeting I have to attend. Same rules apply as the first meeting. Units cannot be talked about, nor can scenarios. Anything I say cannot be talked about cannot. I will take you word at this. Will be emailing you contact information, if not, replay to me in email and I will respond. This time, you can bring some beer. I cannot afford to keep buying spatan for everyone. So, Saturday, 1 PM. Rune
  3. Waiting to hear from Berli. Once I co-ordinate with him, will post a time and where. Rune
  4. Ahh...but there is 1000 miles of front over 5 years, so when/where were you flying? Besides, I still have all the empty Spatan and Pilsner bottles at witnesses....and digital photos, but don't want to scare the masses. Rune
  5. OK, a show of hands for people interested in seeing CMBB this Saturday, in the Chicago Area. Rune
  6. Maps cannot be imported from cmbo to cmbb. You would have to start fresh. Rune
  7. According to the email I just go tfrom the museum, they are open 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. So, We can all meet at the museum at 9:00, but I may be a little late, the drive from where I am staying is 4 1/2 hours. If a voulnteer is available, they are going to let us in the storage area to see the Churchill Croc. Rune
  8. Guys, Madmatt may be joining us. Tuesday, Aug 6th I will be there. Will make arrangements in email before then. Rune Blackhorse, you get back, drop me an email...
  9. OK, let's see how the young one did, picked a single target, check, taunted, a bit weak, but shows promise, picked on harv, squire to JOEBOB , a definite plus. Also insulted JOEBOB another plus. OK, mark Buzzshaw [hmm...related to Joebob? as Squire to me. Buzzy, once you destroy that Sheep Farmer Harv, a 20 page dissertation on why we should not questions the sanity of someone complaining about a sneak preview of that which may not be named. Rune
  10. First week of August I am going to the Patton Museum. Blackhorse used to be stationed there, no idea if he still is, or if anyone else is. If you are stationed at Fort Knox, let me know. Hmm.. Maybe show you CMBB for a ride in a tank for my Kids. Oh yeah, look at the vehicles listed. If you want a picture, let me know and I will try. http://knox-www.army.mil/museum/VEHICLE.htm Rune [ July 07, 2002, 11:01 AM: Message edited by: rune ]
  11. Go to CMHQ and click on the link to chat. Some people including me are there now. Rune
  12. Who's grass mod are you using? Rune Awaiting buzzsaw's attempt at actually challenging someone. Kinda like an IQ test that is stacked against him. Rune
  13. No grand campaign, amount of operation I am still working on. Operations have changed quite a bit. Now I go back to work... Rune
  14. After some of the posts I have seen, I am in the mood to squire a SSN to abuse him. Buzzsaw, challenge someone, let's see if you are worthy. Rune
  15. Capt, There be one fatal flaw with your plan. I approached them, as I did with CMBO. Steve gave his blessing but didn't think people would come over on such short notice. My reasons? I put them to work to test a few things from a newbies perspective. Sometimes an outside "audit" so to say keeps one's scenario making honest. Some other general answers, then like the BFC gang, no more from me since I have lots to do. Trenches, yes, Naval Infantry, yes, Partisans, yes. Hull down can be added after any other move, the tank will then find a hull down location to the spot you picked. Conscript infantry has less commands then other units. Yep, they sure do scream when they charge in a Human Wave. As someone else said that I mentioned, tanks MUST be though of in platoons, lose the platoon tank, and command delays get nasty. I will let the others answer more, but ask about wire/radio FOs. Rune Rune
  16. DANG IT....why didn't I think of that? Grog Dorosh, no harm, no foul. As Tom stated, I know there are people who want surprises, it was not meant as a "Its cool but we can't talk about it". They may answer questions on gameplay, positive or negative, just that Dan is still working on some of the models, and you haven't lived until you have seen a Panzer IIIJ that looks likes it was on LSD in the 60s. Also I told them no specifics on units [Tanks], as they are still being worked on. I am sure you will see more posts coming from them. To answer some questions: We ran it on two computers networked so they could play tcp/ip. First computer is a Pentium 800, 256megs of memory with a GeForce 3TI. The second computer was a Pentium 266, GeForce card, with 512 megs of memory. Both ran the scenarios that were picked flawlessly. I picked one gor them to play 2 person, and 2 others they got to pick at random. Hulldown, you select a place you want to be hulldown to, and the tank will go along the line to find a hulldown place. I will let the other answer what they remember. Better sometimes to get things from a neutral third party. Oh yeah, that was the funniest episode of WKRP I have ever seen. Imagine Les Nessman reporting like the Hindenburg the turkays falling from an airplane. "Oh the humanity of it all..." Rune
  17. Since I hosted, I will answer... Yes, I did the same with CMBO, hellfish came to my house after I demoed cmbo for a bunch of people. I just did this with CMBB also. The promise to keep certain things secret was based on units that aren't done, some features we want to be a surprise on release, and scenarios which I am still working on. I told the users to be honest, if they thought something sucked, say so. If you feel you are being teased, it is quite easy. As Steve said, I just won't do these anymore. It was done because people asked for news, and I thought a fresh perspective is always good. Obviously a few of you don't think so. May I suggest not reading the thread, and let the people who do want to hear from someone else read this? I will flag a Thread do not read-game spoilers so you don't feel like you are being teased IF I ever do this again. Obviosly, there are quite a few here reading this and enjoying hearing from a new perspective. I told the few that came here, that gameplay comments can be said, everything positive or negative. Just the above and features still being tested could not be talked about. Dan explained it weel, if something was seen, talked about then cut, the whining we would hear is more then this whining. Oh yeah, Rune gave up his 4th also...notice no one complaining gave a **** about that either. To the few that made it, enjoyed having you over and putting you to work a little. It was great seeing the expressions on your faces. Now I have to get back to work, but it was a pleasure having you over. Rune
  18. Going to step in here for a minute, you may contact any of these people who saw it today, and they may reply as long as they don't tell the surprises I pointed out to them. If they think it sucks, they may say so. Honest feedback is better then none. That being said, there is NOT a person here who is NOT drooling. Covered arcs seems to really impress, as well as the tank models, enviroment, the atmosphere, the doodads, the damage buildings, the massiveness of the factories [i made a factory scenario they seem to love]. The amount of flexibility added into the commands and gameplay and how much in enhances the game and gameplay really impressed. So, if someone tells you CMBB is nothing more then CMBO with smem changes, they know NOT what they talk about. If someone says maybe if won't be as good as CMBO and expectations are too high, remember it is someone who hasn't seen CMBB. Bottom line: they are impressed, i am cleaning my keyboards from the drool, and the last comment is, and I quote: " I really REALLY like machine guns" Rune
  19. Barrold713 here at Casa Del Rune with a first-hand report of CM:BB and you heard it here first. CM:BO was the game I always wanted to play except it wasn't on the Eastern Front. Well CM:BB fulfills all of my hearts desires. The things you will see and experience will re-ignite the initial passion that was felt upon first playing. Actually, you should kick that up a couple notches. We are of course under limits to speak about the specific changes, but if you think about some of the frequently asked questions and click your heels together three times, some of your most bestest wishes just may come true. The down side of this experience is that it will be difficult to just go back to the old way. The wait for the release is going to be all the worse for the oh so delicious taste of CM:BB I had today. I would love to tell more, but I have to get another couple turns in before rune kicks me out and I have to drive back to Grand Rapids. Hear me now and believe me later...it was worth the two and half hours in the car. BDH
  20. Heck for a plane ticket and a good motel, along with food, I can travel. hehehehehe Rune
  21. Ladies and Gentlemen, The computer are fired up, the beer is int he refrigerator, I am cleaning the house so soon, very soon after they taek a look, will have them post their opinions so you may drool. [Not responsible for keyboards] Rune
  22. Why am I now thinking Warphead is somewhere in a crowd wearing red and white stripes? Rune
  23. Verbal AAR, yep, Screenshots nope. Remember, there are surprises, and they will not be spilled by those who visit. Remember, nothing may be said unless I approve. Not censoring, but there are cool things that are to be a surprise. Rune
