1. It is with scorn and distaste that I address once again the weak kneed, poorest excuses for a grog that has ever been seen. Since the crime of Seniletea has not been determined...I have created a battle to test even his lack of tactics. Yes, a battle of Canucks! A historical offering, featuring Canucks, Gerbiljagers, a canal, a bridge, a farm, stir in a little night, and voila [a term that Pawbroon uses, I think it means Frenchmen bugger snails] an evil Rune Scenario created to test him with. It is being tested even as I lower myself [down bauhaus, I am an elder of the pool, not a SSN] to type to you. Who shall play the twirp? I leave it to the Elder members of the pool to decide. { My vote is for Peng to play him. Imagine losing with the Canucks AND losing to Peng in the same battle} I leave it for you to decide. With scorn and displeasure to you all... Rune
2. My only comments on this. 1. Not all smgs were sent over-seas. How many were used in training and how many were just plain stored in Armorys? I know in the mid 60s some reserve units STILL had some in the Armories. 2. I believe the smg was the weapon of each tank. How many tanks had a thompson or sten inside? 3. How many were lend lease? Rune
3. XXX COrp I made was 9000 points plus if I remember right, whereas a new one being tested, another histprical battle is at 11000 so far. It is still being tested however... Rune
4. {In the darkness that surrounds the Cesspool, a hidden trapdoor who hinges have not seen oil since the beginning of time opens. Out steps a mysterious figure, in robes, clutching THE scroll of NDA. The pool goes silent as one of the elders of the pool approaches the remains of some SSN, now used as a podium. He opens the scroll of NDA and begins to speak, in a deep voice not heard from in many a peng threads} "Low life pond scum, who are not worthy to join the pool have been mouthing off much lately. I, as elder spokesman with the scroll of NDA have a solution. While plotting evilness for both a tournament AND preparing to unlease further evilness in a sequel that the NDA allows me not to name, I have prepared one of the most foul, huge, and evil scenarios to date. This evilness weights in at 11000 points, and is an historical battle, called "In the Shadow", featuring the battle of the town of Overloon. Why do I bring this to light? What other way to get two gits...er...newbies to SHUT UP while playing a battle that will take them years to complete. Now, most newbies fall over dead at the mere mention of a Rune Scenario. If that be the case here...GOOD. Then Bauhaus may have the leftover pickings. (Yes Bauhaus, you may arise). What say the Knights of the Mutha Beautiful thread? I await your reply in the dungeon...i must finish an evil even greater then this for THE sequel" {The Cloaked Figure turns...and slowly heads back to the hidden trap door. Before he enters he turns and speaks} "If the sorry excuses that even make SSNs look good decide to take a pass, I will cast a spell banning them to Mace's home, dressed as Sheep." {With a flash the figure disappears, and the trap door closes on its own with a heavy THUD}
5. Chicago, Il. Yes, Berli was invited to pre-screen CMBO, but had to cancel, wonder if he would want to see a pre-screen of CMBB when time comes. Rune
6. July 18th. Bourgebus Ridge and the fighting near Caen. Being tested right now, turned out good. The Challenger tank is the only confusion so far. The normal platoon had 3 Cromwells and a Firefly. However the one AAR reported one challanger lost. So, I added one due to that report, I had three but took out 2 and left the one. Also did a 2nd Canadian Division's attack in the Forest area around Dunkirk. And now finishing another HUGE one, but historical, on the fighting near Overloon. Rune
7. If that is the case, then they were able to be there and the AAR may be correct. I love how history is so grey instead of black and white. The 11th Armored should of known I would create evil scenarios out fo their battles. Rune
8. I have just read an AAR where the Challenger tank was used in a Cromwell Recon detachment of the 11th Armored Division in July of 1944. I see that in June of 1944, there were 18 stationed in the UK as a reserve, and 24 assigned to a Czech unit, but were not in use, as they could not get waterproofed in time. I have done a historical scenario on the attack of 11th Armor on Bourgebus Ridge, but not sure if the AAR is correct. 11th Armored had 10 of them in December of 44 for sure, then were taken away from the unit. Bottom line: Does anyone know for sure if they had the Challengers in July of 44? I want to keep this scenario historical, and I have put them in for now, but not a lot. Any help appreciated on this one. Rune
9. I now have three other games that are having a problem with 12.41. Not sure if it is directx or the driver itself. Why would I expect BTS to fix it and then have to re-fix it when a newer version of the driver comes out? Doesn't make sense for them to do that. Rune
10. Tinman, It can definitely be played solo. Most of mine are, but I mark made for tcp/ip so people know I design it for two person play. This one can be played by eiother side. Rune
11. If your computer can handle it, it is a great scenario guys! Rune
12. It is still in beta, and there are more version out there then I can count. CMBO works, but with the nvidia driver I had the same problem as others, the text gets messed up. So, until MS gets closer to an official release, I won't say anything more. Rune
13. Does it have AT guns? Yep. Do the British get plenty of Artillery spotters? Yep, Do the british have Air Support? Yep, I watched it hit wwb's own armor. hehehehe Does it have Micheal Caine? You can rename one of the units. Rune
14. Self-serving bump for those that might not have seen this. Rune
15. Since very few voted for the favorite Rune scenario...you forced me to make a new one. This scenario was helped by people who actually visited the terrain or had input on the scenario itself. I thank you all in the briefing. I just sent this to Manx, with this note on the scenario: This Rune Scenario is one of the biggest EVER. Do NOT attempt it if you don't think your computer, or yourself, cannot handle 9000 plus points of units. This scenario is only marked semi-historical since i added a small rise to protect the British starting positions, and if i added as many trees as there really was, no computer in the world could handle it. The units are correct, and yes, the British really had that mixture of model of tanks. It re-creates the breakout of XXX Corp, specifically the Guards Armored Division on 17 Sept 1944. Operation Market-Garden. It can be played as either side, but is best played against someone as insane as you for playing it. Enjoy... Rune
16. I assume you loaded the nvidia then the directx, if this was the case, then reload the nvidia drivers again. Note: With the nvidia 12.41 and 12.6 drivers I have had nothing but problems in SEVERAL games, and the monitor locking down in powered down mode for energy savings. I have since gone back to an older version of the drivers. Tim
17. Rich, It is the hi res grass that is the killer. Change that and try just vehicle mods and I bet you don't get the stutter. That being said, there are some rune scenarios that can make ANY computer slow down, processing the turn. Battle of the Bulge based on the movie [in an anti-grog moment] evsn slows down my system which screams. As a temptation for CM2, wait til you see the historical battles I have planned. Research is almost complete for a few, and more research is being done for even more scenarios. Rune
18. Rich, I think Steve means for the stock game. The mods are third party affairs and can impact the game and computer differently. You cannot expect him to make a hardware recommendation for anything but the stock game. Rune
quote:
Originally posted by rich12545: Steve: I respectfully but wholeheartedly disagree. With cm now, if I use hi-res grass or buildings OR use a huge map, the scrolling gets very choppy. And this is for twice the target system?

19. All you do is place a marker, the computer actually places the units when they come in. Try it again, as I have had them on the side, but have always been able to move them. Rune
quote:
Originally posted by TankDawg: oops, sorry. I thought they were asking for your worst scenarios. read the subject to quickly. but what i meant about this was: SPOILER: The Churchills that come in as reinforcements are placed as such that they can not move - they are stuck on this Jagged Road that is too steep for them to move forward or backward. It is a bug. That is all i was trying to say.

20. I see there is leakage from the Pool de Cess. I will try to tell you what this thread is for in terms even you can understand. I will try to use small words as not to confuse you. This Place, vote for best rune battle. For everyone else, vote for your favorite rune scenario, and I will post the top 10 in a rune pak. Soon I will post all 60 Rune Scenarios in one download. However, the top ten will also be avilable for those with a slow connection. Rune
21. I suggest you look at the elevated roads the XXX Corp was forced to travel. They were single lane roads on top of an elevated dike to keep them dry from the lowlands. Sorry a historical terrain based on maps of the area didn't meet with your approval. I even forwarded the maps I had gotten to another author to make some CC2 maps. The idea here is to post your favorite rune scenarios and I will make a Rune Pak that will have the top ten scenarios. Vote early, vote often, and yes, it should be the plural of Würste Rune Rune
quote:
Originally posted by TankDawg: Hi, I thought "Highway to Hell" was a big dog. Woof, woof! (did you see the road some of the allied reinforcement tanks are placed on?- they could not move due to cliffs) He makes great scenarios, but this was not one of them.

22. It is posted on Boots and Tracks available now. Rune
23. I expect this weekend Kinch will have them up. After they have been posted for a litte while, I will post the "Totally Runed" [yes, i used the idea someone had] which will be all 9 Rune Paks. Quite a few Rune scenarios, all 60, will be included in the Totally Runed Pak. Wait til you see the evilness cooked up for the Eastern Front. Rune
24. Could also be a Directx bug, MS is already working on the 8.1 version of DirectX. Sorry, that is all I am allowed to say. Rune
