Your thoughts on 1.08

Recommended Posts

Haven't played since 1.05.

Just played 1.08 and I am happy to say that the enemy AI has been more competent and aggressive. Improved TacAI increases survivability of both human and AI units as well. There may still be bugs but I'm generally satisfied. I will surely play more of this from now on. But there still more room for improvement.

I have also found the 1.08 patch to be great. When did the space bar become an orders menu pop-up? That was great, I found it by accident smile.gif

Anyway, seems a little more stable than 1.07. Played a couple of scenarios and a QB and only crashed once....so far....

How does this buddy aid work? Is that in the manual?

Thanks

I think you just have your squad/team near the casualty and someone automatically plays medic/combat lifesaver.

Could you describe this in more detail?

I've restarted the TF Thunder campaign and am now on the 6th mission. So far I haven't seen any problems with squad movement. Troops are moving intelligently and with an eye towards protection, particularly as I give facing orders for the end of each important shift.

Yes, now the gameplay has a more "real" feeling.

The only problem I have seen so far with 1.08 is too much friendly fire at night. It's almost ridiculous: bounding overwatch is pretty funny when the covering squad opens up on the men they're supposed to be covering.

This is not a new problem, of course. It has been with the engine from the beginning.

I'm just curious but how would you suggest the game be modified so as not to see "too much friendly fire at night"?

Maybe friendly fire at night is really that heavy?

Since the small arms fire does not effect friendlies it would really only be a cosmetic fix any ways wouldn't it? (unless I am confused and they have changed that aspect of the simulation lately and I was unaware of the change.)
