**HUGE Lowered Hills Corrective Skies Pack!!!**

Recommended Posts

Feeling hemmed-in by those towering mountains in CMAK?

I've reworked ALL the offending* sky art with hillsides AT LEAST 1/3rd lower!

- Sky, clear day (Italian/North African theaters)

- Sky, cloudy day (Italian/North African theaters)

- Sky, Dawn/Dusk (Italian theater)

- Sky, Dawn/Dusk (North African theater)

- Sky, Alt. FLAT desert horizon, clear day (North African theater)

They're all at our favorite side

This 'reduced hillside mod pack' brings the surrounding terrain to a proportion in line with the scenario maps, giving more of a true-life perspective. All effort was made to make these new sky bmps wrap seamlessly. The clear sky mod in particular was heavily reworked with a bluer sky, distant smoke and fire, bomber contrails, etc. The North Africa clear day sky even got a cool alt. 'flat desert horizon' for all you Western Desert fighters!

The art is all default hi-res. You'll note the night and the winter Alpine skies did not get modded. That's because they lacked the offending 'towering hillsides' of the others.

Here's a pile of screenshots off the cmmods.com site:

I had spotted ParaBellum's Normandy sky request just before posting my own announcement. Take a peek at these new skies. Lower greener hills, bomber contrails, distant fires. I think they could be considered more 'Normandy-like' for your purposes. :D

Dear MikeyD,

Your skies are pure heaven. The desert scenes are very impressive, these mods make the battlefield almost infinite.

Kind suggestion : what about a CMBB sky for steppe scenario. I remember many pictures were panzers rolled in an almost never-ending flat plain...

However, I think that your actual mods (what am I saying... ...artworks smile.gif ) don't really fit for Normandy countryside. A bit too hilly in my opinion.

Anyway, keep up the good work ! Thanx

Take a look at old Gulf War photos. Distant burning vehicles/oil wells would created a vertical plume of smoke til they hit a certain height, then spread out and drift downwind, raining out heavier particals as they went. Seen on the horizon they'd look like patches of low-lying black clouds.

Ground N.A. texture's just the default sand. Well, actually a half-res version of the default sand for my slow old machine.

You guys do know, don't you, that after I completed the high res skies for y'all I went and cut the resolution by 3/4 to run on my own old machine! My poor old mac, it's come ddown to a choice between pretty skies or pretty armor. My graphics card can't handly both at once. :(
