According to the governor of Russia’s Samara region, Dmitry Azarov, an unspecified number of residents of the region were among those killed and wounded by the strike on the town of Makiivka. Russian military bloggers, whose information has largely been reliable during the war, said ammunition stored close to the facility had exploded in the attack and contributed to the high number of casualties. Expressing anger at the losses, Daniil Bezsonov, an official with the Russian-appointed administration in Russian-occupied Donetsk, called for the punishment of military officers who ordered a large number of troops to be stationed at the facility. The Russians have had this problem since the beginning of the war. Apparently whatever happens when troops get out of visual contact with a company, or even battalion level, officer is so bad they just keep them bunched up regardless of the casualties.

Looks like the initial reports that very large numbers of Russians died in the strike is accurate. And it would be just like the Russians to store a large amount of ammo right next to where they are housing troops. Steve

Given the pictures we've seen of the site and what it was used for, I'm thinking a major under count. Interesting that they at least admitted to 63 as that's a pretty large number from a single strike. Steve

A lot of it has to do with the soil type, for sure. Another factor is the weather that came before it. If the frost has sunk deep into the ground, it takes quite a while for that to go away. In the Spring it can take weeks if the weather is unstable. Once the frost leaves, the ground becomes even worse. So if the previous cold was enough to freeze the ground 1m below the surface, then freezing of the shallower soil will be much quicker. 1 hour ago, Yet said: ofc soil freezes easier soil than a pool. but i wouldnt expect a major offensive before thursday with this forecast I agree with this. Steve Local TG chats don't beleive in this number and think this is cynic joke of MoD (63 is a car plate numer of Samara oblast). But Russian milbloggers claim dissassembling of ruines is continuing and not all bodies and wounded recovered yet, according to their information on half day was knowingly about 73 or 78 KIA and 136 wounded According to Russian sources main losses suffered 1st battalion of 14444th (are you crazy with such numbers?) rifle regiment of Samara oblast (mobiks), but in the same building also were deployed troopers of 20th special forces detachment of Rosgvardiya, 360th trainian comms regiment of Risgvardiya, 631st regional training center of missile and artillery usage. Also were destroyed nine vehilces But this is not all. Russian milbloggers alarming, that nobody didn't write anout similar incidents, but in less scale, happened in Sadove and Davydivka villages around Shakhtarsk town in the night from 30th on 31st Dec in Donetsk oblast, were about per 50 troopers were deployed in local kindergarden and culture center and after being HIMARSed, only parts of walls remained from theese buildings. Also UKR and RUS milbloggers told about the same strikes with many losses in Svatove and Chervonopopivka. Zeleban
New post from Mashovets. 1. The command of the Russian troops continues to implement measures to increase the level of combat capability of units and subunits from its group of forces in the northern part of the Lugansk region. In particular, in the last days of 2022, in the Novopskov area, the command of the 20th CAA organized an accelerated training course with the personnel of the army mobilization reserve from mortar units (up to 4 mortar batteries - 252nd and 752nd MRR ) ... In addition, the enemy does not give up his hopes to completely stop the advance of the forward units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Svatovsko-Starobelsk direction and be able to advance to the line along the Zherebets River in the Kremennaya-Liman direction. To this end, during the last week of last year, the enemy command organized a whole series of attacks by his units in certain areas ... - from the line Kuzemovka - Krivoshievka, the enemy tried at least 2 times to attack the forward positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the direction of Stelmakhivka and Novoselivka, in both cases - with forces up to a motorized rifle platoon (probably from the BTGr of the 423rd MRR of the 4th TD of the 1st Guards TA and "consolidated company" from the 9th MRR of the 18th Motor Rifle Division of the 11th Army Corps). These attacks ended for the enemy to no avail. - Also, the enemy, apparently, is especially "concerned" by the situation in the area of the villages of Chervonopopovka and Zhitlovka, where on December 29-31 he organized a whole series of attacks by forces of "fresh" BTGr from the 35th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 41st CAA The Central Military District, which he pulled into this area the day before. The attacks continued from the area of the north-eastern part of Chervonopopovka in a general direction to the west of the village and in a south-western direction, with forces up to a motorized rifle platoon, in some cases supported by armored vehicles. It is obvious that the main goal of such actions of the enemy is an attempt to remove the flank threat to their advanced units in the Liman direction in the area east of Dibrova, operating under the general direction of Kremennaya - Zarechnoye - Liman. - In the area of Belogorovka, the enemy, after regrouping, also resumed his attacks in the direction of Shipilovka - Belogorovka (during December 29-30, he carried out up to 5 attacks with forces up to a motorized rifle platoon, of which at least 2 at night). The meaning of these attacks is probably the same as in the Chervonopopovka area - to ensure the security of the southern flank of their units, which are engaged in tough oncoming battles with units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Dibrova area.
Zeleban
2. On the regrouping of enemy troops in the Donetsk direction and as part of the GV "Dnepr" ... - As I already wrote, units of the 20th Motor Rifle Division began to arrive in the Donetsk direction in the zone of responsibility of the 150th Motor Rifle Division ... in particular, units of the 33rd and 255th MRRs of this division are already being recorded in the Avdievsky direction ... Most likely , the enemy will bring these forces and assets into battle in the near future in the Avdiivka area, because previous attempts to achieve some significant success exclusively with the forces of the 1st AK in this direction ended in vain. - In the same direction, even earlier, the enemy transferred two rifle regiments of the mobilization reserve (MR) of the 1st AK from the Crimean direction - the 103rd and 111th ... Probably, in the near future, after resupplying these regiments, these regiments will be activated by the command the enemy in a battalion-like manner in the Pervomaisky area south of the Avdeevsky defense area, as well as to the north of it in the Krasnogorovka area ... The meaning of these measures remains unchanged - to bypass Avdeevka from the north and south and thus force the Armed Forces to leave the city ... under threat environment. - Group of Forces "Dnepr" ... The command of the enemy troops continues to build up its forces and means along the line Peschanovka - Gola Pristan opposite the city of Kherson, in particular, right before the new year, it strengthened its grouping at this line with the following forces: - 2 battalions of the 126th separate coastal defense brigade of the Black Sea Fleet - 1 MRBn 385 MRR of territorial troops + 1 more MRBn in the process of moving from the territory of the temporarily occupied peninsula of Crimea - 2 MSB of the 1821st MRR of the Territorial Troops The specified tactical group, most likely, will enter into operational subordination to the command of the 49th CAA, the units and units of which form the basis of the Dnepr group of forces ... In addition, the enemy continues to carry out measures to improve his security zone in front of his positions along the left bank of the Dnieper. Thus, the installation of mine-explosive barriers by the enemy in the area of the Antonovsky railway bridge (opposite the village of Pridneprovskoye and further along the river to the north), as well as in the area of the village. Kardashinka and Oleshki... He is also actively speeding up the process of fortifying the defense area east of the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the area of Ivanovka - Vinogradne - Rybalcha - Chulakovka. In view of the fact that at the same time the enemy is taking active measures to strengthen the left flank of the 58th CAA (Melitopol direction) and is trying to restore full-fledged logistical support for his troops throughout the entire Azov "corridor" ... his command continues to consider the likelihood of a Ukrainian offensive in here like "high enough"...
Haiduk
New portions of today's "cotton" Voronezh, military airfield area. Russians claimed UAV was shot down by AD Kilmovo district of Briansk oblast, power substation was struck by kamikadze-drone Sevastopol and Simferopol during last hour. Reportedly five explosions in Gvardeyskoye and Belbek airfields areas. Russians claimed all targets were intercepted Russian MoD claimed during missile attack om 31st of Dec they destroyed all factories, involved in Tu-141 turning into cruise missiles (aha, thats why they have struck the hotel in one of former "Radar" factory building!), also as if they destroyed the base of Tu-141 in Khmelnitskiy and all launch sites and made impossible further attacks on airfields in the depth of Russian territory. 383rd regiment of remote-controlled aerial vehicles, having Bayraktars, Tu-141 and Tu-143 on armament indeed is deployed in Khmelnytskyi and UKR MoD told about "military object was hit" in this city, but I doubt some valuable things could be stored there if the enemy can strike at any moment.
