Late war British battle group

Recommended Posts

Kind of made up the descriptor, but am out of my element here. This is a March 1945 pic showing everything from PBI to Churchills at/near Kervenheim, Germany. There appears to be an armored jeep behind the Dingo, there are T-handled shovels in plain view on the backs of some of the infantry, and there's a PIAT team front left and center. The Churchills seem to be equipped with varying wildly in position and quantity spare track, presumably as additional armor protection. This was originally posted by Gordon John Smith in the Bolt Action International FB group.

Screwed up badly! The armored car was completely flubbed by my brain and is absolutely not a Dingo, a notion that now seems ridiculous. Per a CoC colleague, it's a Humber. My brain failed to properly process the light upper hull and thus registered the lower hull and the stowage only. Something I also missed when I first saw the pic is the motorcycle to the AC's left.

+1  No shiny shoulder patches or anything to make a vehicle or uniform stand out.

Some folks everything to look brand new and have colorful patches - and that's ok - "different strokes for different folks".

John, I can't see your original photo, but the adapted Jeep from Falaise seems like a good idea to me if you have to spend any time in it, particularly over night.  But then I do come from a camping and campervan background / current ground 🚐.  Hmmm that may not be a campervan emoji...

If all the vehicles are removed from that picture, it almost looks like a scene from the so called Great War.

What type of motorcycle is that.   Matchless or maybe a Royal Enfield  ???????

I am not a specialist in English motorcycles, even motorcycles in general
but tubular motorcycle fork, we see the exhaust on the side and the small rear saddle
Matchless G3/L
