John1966
Friendly fire courtesy of the RAF. Bloody flyboys.

BornGinger
Situations like that with airsupport shooting at their "buddies" seem to be the reason to why some people in the forum don't pick them in a H2H quickbattle and avoid using them in a H2H scenario.
Warts 'n' all
Oooops! It looks like a not so perfect Sunday. Edited December 6, 2020 by Warts 'n' all
MikeyD
I've got nothing to contribute to this topic. I just wanted to say its 2:30 in the morning and snowing out and I don't want to go to bed. But yesterday I stayed up til 4am and I can't keep doing stuff like that. So I'm off to bed. Oh, and I think 'friendly fire' is Steve's revenge on us for daring to use close air support in a WWII title.
Sgt.Squarehead
Still happens in the modern titles.....Recently fought a USMC battle in CM:SF2 where my only serious casualties were caused by a friendly airstrike called in by an overly optimistic FAC.Ā Edited December 6, 2020 by Sgt.Squarehead

Still got a tactical victory. Only points I didn't get was for not keeping 80% of my force intact. Didn't get my calculator out but I suspect this was the incident that took me over the line.
Warts 'n' all
I remember many years ago having a similar thing happen in Mission 3. The air turned bluer than a RAF uniform.
MG TOW
Always avoid danger close with air support in this game. It never goes as well like in those viet nam novels I used to read.
John1966
I'd actually called off the airstrike at this point too. This was nearly a minute later. I did get radio chatter of "STOP!!! STOP!!!" straight after the friendly fire so I can't complain the immersion was broken. Believe it or not it happened again later in the scenario (after a strike was called off). But there were only lightly wounded (no actual casualties) so I didn't bother with a screenshot (and strangely nobody shouted "STOP!!! STOP!!!"). LiveNoMore
I like using CAS but not anywhere near my troops. It's great for hitting villages and farm compounds. Plus the occasional Arty position. The other thing it does is spot any AA gun emplacements when they open fire.
