ConfusedBuyer
I remember some Peng thing back in the ol' Big Time Software forums and am surprised to see this guy's still so popular. Who's Peng and what's he mean to the Combat Mission community??? I'm serious. I see this Peng stuff all the time, it seems, even though I only pop into these forums every three years or so (basically with each new release of a Combat Mission engine!) and I always see some kind of Peng challenge thread or something...so what's the deal?? TIA

Nidan1
Its best that you do not meddle in things that are beyond understanding. Just rest assured when you pop back in three years hence Peng will still be here.
ChrisND
I hear that he used to be the man known as Richard Pickman. That was before he joined Them.

Yeknodathon
It comes with the special scratch 'n' sniff feature on the DVD-ROM. Give it a good scratch, bring nose to shiny disc and sniff deeply and all will be revealed.
ConfusedBuyer
Erm...someone should just make "Peng" a sticky. I know inside jokes are cool, but I'm amazed at how long this one goes on!
Guest
It's less of an inside joke and more of a multiplayer insult thread that works quite a bit like the Hundred Years' War, actually.

Excellent. That means it'll only go on for 116 years. Then the side that are winning will lose. And it'll be the beginning of the end of chivalry.

Rocky Balboa
Erm...someone should just make "Peng" a sticky. I know inside jokes are cool, but I'm amazed at how long this one goes on! hmmm ... "a long cruel joke" .... come to think of it that's a very good description of what peng truly is
Boo Radley
And it'll be the beginning of the end of chivalry. Yeah, we pretty much trashed that right off the bat. Except when it comes to the Ladies of the MBT. To them, we are eternally chivalru... chivali... we treat them real swell.
ConfusedBuyer
So any of you gents gonna 'fess up about this, or do I have to get my g/f involved??
Yeknodathon
Er, how involved can one get with a gerbil friend?
Boo Radley
Er, how involved can one get with a gerbil friend? I think g/f stands for Greek Feta. He's going to call in the big cheese.
LUCASWILLEN05
I have wondered about this myself. Concluding he might be an evil Chinese General or perhaps the next Bond villain? Or perhaps not :-)

Ales Dvorak
Just rest assured when you pop back in three years hence Peng will still be here. With new CM3 engine and Turbo Power Senachi. Love, Alice
Other Means
Most of the involved reflect wistfully on the 100 years war.
Bergerbitz
Good times...I remember that war fondly, though I was just a lad at the time...
Bergerbitz
Hm...and I just read the parts about a Sticky Peng and a Greek Feta. Troubled times are a-comin'. The real question isn't who Peng is, but who Peng isn't.
Boo Radley
The real question isn't who Peng is, but who Peng isn't. Very astute, Burgerblitz! But rest assured that even as each of you is alone in his knowledge of Peng, so too is Peng alone in his knowledge of you. And it's probably safer that way. Easier to get the restraining order and stuff.
sburke
Less of a who and more of a state of mind... or mindlessness..ess.ess. Really we think it is just the background noise seeping through from the institute for the criminally insane next door. Unfortunately listening to it can have a seriously unhealthy impact on your... oh wait you have been listening haven't you.... sorry to hear that. No wonder after CMBN has been out a half year you are still a confused buyer.
