Just Finished My First Campaign Totally Hooked on Red Thunder
dbsapp replied to Simcoe's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
The other issue is that it's not representative enough. In fact, across 6 mission (which is pretty small for campaign) you have only 1 (yes, one) mission when you command tanks (namely IS-2s). The rest is pure infantry or the same mix of infantry and su-76 self propelled artillery. Once again, I enjoyed this campaign. But, in my humble opinion, campaign that represents the biggest Soviet assault on Eastern front (which literally mirrorred 1941 for Wehrmacht) could be more epic. Hammer's Flank feels like a small episode. Maybe they believed that single scenarious should compensate that. -
The incredible richness of the CM games

I agree with you, every good game should have some randomness and illogical component that make it less mechanistic and finite. ...But there is difference between "not always happen as it should" and "happen too often as it shouldn't" -

I just finished Hammer's Flank and...it was really good! I mean very balanced, nuanced and historically accurate, but what is most important - fun to play. The campaign possesses one extremely rare and critically important quality - most of the missions could be done without reloading routine in one immersive walkthrough. I guess what repelled me from Hamer's Flank before was the scale of the first mission... Battalion in the swamp under rain that have to cross the river... Well, that's not that attractive start. I definitely own the author an apology for trashing this brilliant campaign before. -

LOL not just, spotting is beyond parody sometimes. I saw tanks virtually driving around invisible vehicles on the road that blocked the road but they couldn't see. -
Why Khrizantema's visibility in game is much worse than BMP-3 if Khrizantema is literally built on BMP-3 chassis and has improved vision equipment, including radar?

Butler did it! I wish I could treat CM as a detective story. -

CMBS pack?

It looks like the game engine was finally upgraded from 4.0 to 5.0 Hope you will upload "all in ones" for other titles as well. Sad, that white t34-85 still looks like piece of soap, the same as in the original CMFR. Also didn't notice if you put "no helmets mod" made by @MOS:96B2P.

@37mmwhat about compatibility between dufferent mods included in the folder? Can I put the whole folder in Z or I should pick mods one by one?

Good, now I have an excuse for replaying Road to Berlin campaign

Transition from conscription to a voluntary contract army.
dbsapp replied to HUSKER2142's topic in General Discussion Forum
I guess the prime example would be US with its Vietnam\post Vietnam transition. Try looking for corresponding literature. If I remember correctly they calculated that conscription army indirectly costs more to GDP growth than professional army due to labor and educational disruption. -
So mods can work with CMFR now? That's absolutely great and exactly what I hoped some kind person with skills would do some day. It was a shame that all the work put in mods for CMRT was lost after Fire and Rubble release. Thank you! Definetly will try it the next I play CMFR.

"Brzezinski: Yes. According to the official version of history, CIA aid to the Mujahiddin began during 1980, that is to say, after the Soviet army invaded Afghanistan on December 24, 1979. But the reality, closely guarded until now, is completely otherwise: Indeed, it was July 3, 1979 that President Carter signed the first directive for secret aid to the opponents of the pro-Soviet regime in Kabul. And that very day, I wrote a note to the president in which I explained to him that in my opinion this aid was going to induce a Soviet military intervention" Quite an interesting read, thank you

I had the similar case with Bradley penetrating T90M from the front and killing one of the crew members (last mission of Crossing the Dnieper campaign). Then it finished tank with TOW. Playing Americans in modern series is basically God mode. In this regard CM games are as realistic as Rambo movies. They are hilariously overpowered, so example you have provided is not surprising at all.

Original Russian campaign in CMRT is notoriously awful. I don't like German campaign as well. Really recommend you to play campaigns from the addon Fire and Rubble. Russian and German are great both. Unfortunately, training campaign in CMRT is much better than the others. -
I hoped there is some magic button to turn it to game engine 5.0!

Those screenshots look gorgeous! What mods do you use? I downloaded CMA today and would appreciate advice on graphics enchantments.
