  1. You mean to bump it ? I haven't played it but just had a look, you should be fine once you get to the 'flood plain' . Are you playing the original? I seem to have a Redux version as well, more GE reinforcements but it says play as Axis vs AI while the original mentions H2H.
  2. Ah South Stalingrad, the posh area. Not like that rubbled Central district .
  3. Nice work Nigel, loving it as always. Was that Pavlov's House in there a couple of times? And the 'jaunty, dare I say jovial' music playing over the video worked surprisingly well. I still like a bit of techno though .
  4. As Stalin (or was it Hitler?) once said "We don't play realistically, we play to win." Particularly in a QB or stand-alone battle.
  5. You might be down a level too far into Scenario and Mod tips, but who cares . Are you WW2 / Modern / Both / Space Lobsters?
  6. Even if it was 30 minutes in my 3 hour game, that would be do-able (and useful). Otherwise you have a big chunk of metal sat in the wrong place right up to 3 hours.
  7. I also thought I'd read that was the reason, but: I'm not totally clear what 'it' is but I think the discussion was about large AT/AA guns in general. Being currently in the middle of a 3 hour game, I seem to have plenty of time to drop off, deploy, perhaps fire, pick up, move, drop off etc.? Instead of which I have two Pak40s being manually pushed to relocate them. Not sure how often that happened apart from short distances?
  8. No worries Frank, I got the idea when you sent it. Once again, thanks for such great work!
  9. Nice! You're doing some great work (as usual).
  10. Yes, many thanks Frank. Excellent work and please don't cut off communication here my friend .
  11. Do you think the code includes a 'luck dice roll' where one player gets the luck and other doesn't ? In Pershing vs Tiger this week, I had an unbuttoned M24 Chaffee on recon duty. One of @Ultradave's Tigers spotted it and an 88 shell exploded in the trees a few feet from the TC's head. He buttoned up sharpish, no injuries. The next 88 shell hit the turret and achieved a partial penetration right next to the TC's position inside. Again no injuries, just made the crew 'nervous'. You don't say . The Chaffee then retreated into the trees, and a turn later was Ready and OK...lucky TC and lucky crew. Anyway, good luck with your Panthers, although I may be a little late for one of the them!
  12. In two recent PBEMs, I have lost a Panther each time to artillery fire unluckily landing on the engine hatches. Just saying .
  13. So game time is not the reason then. More likely this: I'd be happy to look the other way while the gun and crew magically re-connect...
  14. Great to see you back, and thanks for the new work. I wasn't here the first time, but I have some of your work already. I'll grab the rest now (only WW2 though for me). But not everybody, there are quite a few playing H2H as well.
  15. My view on this may have been skewed by an accident I saw at a small tank display on Weston-Super-Mare beach a few years ago. A T34 and a Sherman were moving around close to the crowd when they collided. The T34 moved away across the sand. The Sherman however stopped and started giving off smoke from the engine compartment. A brave (other descriptions are available) marshall ran over with a fire extinguisher and tackled the visible flames possibly just in time. For some reason, that display was the last one allowed on the beach, can't think why.
  16. Having just re-installed John Tiller's Campaign Series on my newish Windows 11 laptop, I had the opposite problem. After first not installing (no idea why) using the download and serial key in my Matrix account, it did install a day later but wouldn't run. To get it to run (after some searching) I had to install an old 32-bit Visual C exe/dll alongside the 64-bit version, and bob's your uncle. I'm wondering if it was worth the effort - my intention was to explore whether some of it could be re-created in CM. It certainly could, but have I got the time/inclination? Not sure. I don't think I'll be playing it for playing it's sake anyway, it's good but a bit too 'legacy' after playing CM.
  17. Excellent. I remember reading that at the time, but had forgotten it, thanks for the reminder.
  18. I bow to your knowledge my friend . And to the Tiger in your profile - is that 131 at Bovington?
  19. All of which makes we wonder which sources of data Charles/BFC used to model this in CM? I suppose we'll never know, but do we think that the game seems 'reasonably sensible' from the lethality/vulnerability point of view? I think so, but I may be subject to misconceptions and popular myths.
  20. Okay, you make a very good point. Is that based on the data presented above, or other sources?
