  1. I think that the spotting rounds are HE and once you have the fire for effect it will complete the mission with smoke.
  2. Not only US shooters reload, I lost count how many I did. Now happily retired, shoot air pistol as it is a lot cheaper.
  3. @AdamPraha Beware of spoilers. This is the first German Campaign in RT. Always save games and make screen shots. I know what infantry can spot. I have now an idea of the AI battle plan and knows where he wants to engage. Let infantry do their work, this terrain has plenty of concealment and cover for them.
  4. That's because you're up against a very skilled individual. He is the one who gave you the game. He has the perfect intel he knows where all of your units are and what they are likely to do. He also knows how to win on elite or iron that's why he is now more in game editing. These are only my theories. His weakness he has only one turn the first one. My tips: Armor is nothing without infantry. Your infantry can spot armor from 1km away the armor can't spot 3 men with binoculars who are concealed from a KM. These are called listening patrols. Where armor is they have units, which cover them. If you attack them this is what he wants you to do. It is called a lure and trap situation. To overcome it. You have to maneuver and don't use the obvious approach routes. It is catch 22 once you read his battle plans you will win the battle. Camera 4 is a lazy way to play this game and not very realistic. The devil is in the detail boots on the ground are the best to find observation positions and firing positions. Separate the two and last and not least don't camp.
  5. I can tell you small arms cartridges going off outside a firearm are relatively harmless. The case as it is the lesser mass becomes the projectile and it doesn't go far. Kind regards.
  6. I don't use PS but Affinity Photo now I got used to it I rate it higher. Take it from me you can do anything what PS could do. I paid AUS$ 40 and no subscription. Kind regards.
  7. Camera 1 + 1 sequence of mouse wheel Gives you the height of the fighting compartment of an AFV, Camera 1 +2 sequences of the mouse wheel gives you the POV of the commander when the AFV is unbuttoned. This can be checked by using the W-Key and virtually mount the vehicle. Anyway, this is how I do it. To plot the way point you go to the very bottom of your screen, just stop short of your move tool becoming the pointer.
  8. Pressing the Plus-Button gives us an idea of the mood of our unit. Once morale is on panic the AI makes just about a much sense.
  9. Thank you, I took the liberty to download this pdf file.
  10. AKA friendly fire it is never a good idea having friendly forces inside the LOF of a tank. Like cleaning on a firing range, they won't shoot you but will make their presence known.
  11. Big games are a lot of small games. Make it into mini campaigns by the saving feature. I couldn't finish a huge game in a day.
  12. Foxholes2 Windows +Alt+Print Sc is much more versatile; it gives you a library for post processing. Foxholes gave the crew a place to hide. T34 quantity is a quality in its own right. The T34 in the background took him out. The crosscountry of this tank is outstanding attacks where the enemy least expect it. Post processing, high pass filters and curves you don't need PS for this job.
  13. The topic is standing in Foxholes. How can you stand in a Foxhole if somebody lobs a grenade in it? My latest creation with Affinity Photo.
  14. Yes I actually rate it higher than PS. Masking and selections were a puzzle in the beginning it is where it is a little different. It is available in the Microsoft store if you are a window user. 32 bit for full HDR editing. Something like US$ 40 and it is yours, no subscription. I live in Australia and our $ is 74 cents I think.
  15. Ok do the same with the HQ of an MG42 team. He is only a Section HQ and out of touch with his platoon. He can even call a 105mm. A Russian Regimental HQ with a radio can't call in the heavy stuff but his FO who is his subordinate can. But we discuss only German units. They were actually issued a flashlight for signaling?
  16. The Soviet mortar team. The HQ doesn't have a radio, the section team leader has and is the one you put in charge of the mortars. The HQ without the radio can call in fire missions up to 3km away which is the range. I just checked in one of my games. The HQ with the Radio is in Touch with his HQ without a Radio at almost 400 meters. He must have a foghorn or something like that. I can live with it there were other means apart from a radio but they are not in the game. As a rule I have him inside visual distance of a T34 tank but I don't have to.
  17. Attacked with 1 million men the Seelow Heights. Lost 30000 men it was not a decimation 30000 is 3%. The Germans defended with 100000 men and 1% got killed. This one was the mother of breakthrough battles. Zhukov carried out the foreign politics of his country, that is beat the Western Allies to Berlin. Terrible figures I am certain you will agree, but the Soviet infantryman was not a zombie.
  18. Here is one for down the road, durchkammen is the German word for clearing urban terrain. Literally combing through and you need grenades lots of them. Just plot a LOF in which the only thing what can hit is a grenade. Red or grey doesn't make a difference.
  19. The C2 mechanics if you understand them they will enable you to win most engagements. The Russian approach is Reichstrasse1. Infront of their first objective is a bridge(choking point) , if you succeed in brewing 2 or 3 tanks up there the Russian will certainly run out of time to complete their mission. On my right side and on your left side is what looks like a farm complex. That is a perfect spot to get flanking shots on the Russian armour if they succeed to take the first objective. Please don't reveal any more German intel for me it is going well, and I want to find it out myself. If I were playing for German, I would seriously consider abandoning two tanks on the bridge.
  20. Make the objectives your killing ground, it is called the lure and trap strategy. I play Russian and found the German armor. It means I get the first shot in they are into battle with the Panther's contact icons. To match the Panther's rate of fire I engage each Panther with 3 IS2's. The Panther can fire 6 shells/minute an IS2 just two. If I would play German that's what I would do. If I lose tanks make sure it is on the road, the terrain is muddy and one out of three tanks may get bogged down. Make time your alley. The Russian AI probably targets their objectives with artillery make sure you don't have troops there. Make them your ambush objectives.
  21. Neither tank can penetrate the other, Panthers are in hull down. The larger 122mm does the damage with the weight of shot. I play the Russian side. As German you should avoid attrition because it is a numbers game. The Russians won't run out of men, they can however run out of time.
  22. If I see panic, I expect some irrational behaviour. They can run in any direction. Personally, I go to the bookshelf and do a read up on clever tactics.
  23. Did you have a look at Affinity Photo? It is like Photoshop, but you pay less then Euro 40 no subscription.
  24. Yes, we bought the game to have fun. Camera position 5-9 simulates maps I use for plotting. The others if it corresponds with the POV a unit has. What other people think about my preferences is none of my business. Inspired by Sir Anthony Hopkins about that one.
