  1. Match grade munitions the cartridges are custom to suit the rifle. If you are a reloader you can achieve this at home. You fire a commercial cartridge and because of the combustion the case fits the chamber exactly. Now you resize the neck only, surplus rifles like the old Lee Enfield are still capable of outstanding accuracy.
  2. You can hide inside a bunker, but you can't hide the bunker. All joking apart hiding with close cover arc works well if you defend a house. (Better use the shift key too.
  3. Once you see the AI attacking just go in hide and see how they dig their own grave. Studienka in RT if you play German just organize your defense first. Because the way it starts is downright silly. I will play that one on Hotseat to do the map some justice it is not a meeting game at the start. I love the map but a 3 hour scenario and try to make triggers is TBH outside the scope of the engine in my opinion.
  4. This is done by the elite it is like the Olympics sub 10 seconds for the 100 meters gets you qualified to participate. The average fit guy looks at 12 seconds. They have technology now we are not aware off. They have some laser and pocketcomputer to do the calculations? Who knows? The 1.25 scope give the rifleman now 500mtrs with iron sights it is 300mtrs. We look at this game and we get a nice big icon, just go outside measure 500mtrs and see how small a human is. We can't tell apart a male or female in the open.
  5. Effective range of over a mile. But not in Combat Mission. You need to pair them with MG and HMGs these are for suppression and need a precision tool to take out priority targets.
  6. I am fortunate, I have a human opponent to play Hotseat with and he has a similar background. TBH PBEM doesn't appeal us much. To make it really interesting you must have some house rules you can agree on. But PBEM could be nice if you get used to it. First of all, you must be in the mood for this game. To play Hotseat at least you can play a good defensive game. Once you have the right guess of the editor's AI battle plan it is game over. It happened with the first game of Highland Games in SF2.
  7. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. There were some hidden objectives to do with documents for you to discover. I found one of them there may have been more.
  8. That would suck too, you can't shoot them the bullets just keep missing. I suppose I had to wait for the white flag.
  9. In this campaign you can't play as Syrians. The so-called 3rd world countries can have more effective infantry forces. They don't have a few million to spare for the training of special forces soldiers. But they get their chicken from the backyard and not from KFC. The 13 yr old will cut the head and dresses the chicken in the kitchen, by the age of 17 they do it with pigs and goats. Our pampered and spoiled urban dwellers have a problem. But this is a game treat it as such.
  10. As Syrian the strategy should be of attrition. Squad of Syrians get wiped out by a squad of US Marines, but the US Marines will be short of ammunition doing so. Syrian Saggers and T55 tanks can take out their Stryker's. It is not hopeless force The US and its NATO allies in a MOUT operation.
  11. The second in command takes over. I don't know how this works in CW. You can't merge units from different platoons. You need to check their morale status. More than likely, they are not suited for combat duties. Great to use them to occupy objectives near the end of a game. I would put them directly under the command of the Company they share the C2 with. He will share the contact icons with them.
  12. The golden rule with graphics, don't copy somebody else's work. I think the same goes with scenarios and maps.
  13. A British Sten can't pick up the 9mm from a German MP40. all what he must do is put the German's ammo in the Sten's magazine. Stronger yet the Browning HP was used by the Germans and by the British Commonwealth. At least they agreed on something it was a fine pistol.
  14. Tips: First beat the AI on Veteran now work your way through to Elite or Iron. Then play a human player who knows what he or she is doing. Have a go at scenario editing then worry about mods. That's my workflow in CM. I am playing with editing and mods yes can look good but for now a solution to a non-existing problem. Yes it doesn't happen too often, but some scenarios have authors which can still beat me as an attacker.
  15. TRP's they could be used to simulate communications other than radio. When a HQ comes in visual distance, he can use it to call in artillery. Otherwise on map artillery as usual. Using target reference maps Regimental HQ or their FO's. We can be more liberal with TRP's, but we must have a visual on them by HQ's only as they have usually signal-pistols in case of WW2.
  16. The HMC gunner is kneeling while a rifleman sees and can fire when he is standing. Once I had this Eureka Moment the problem was solved. The camera doesn't show prone or kneeling positions.
  17. Till you a unit gets a contact icon it has not seen anything. Better people read the manual about the little bit of relative spotting. Your PC doesn't substitute for the Command and Control in the game. The radios and contact by sight or by sound play a role.
  18. You must get rid of the game with engine three. Better write a ticket or refer to @BFCElvis with private message how to update from Engine 3 to Engine 4.
  19. @Aragorn2002 @Thewood1 @rocketman Thank you all very much for your input. I was looking at the maps and they are all very decent. Playing a game and we have plenty of fictional scenarios for FB for example. Kind regards and happy gaming.
  20. I like creeping or rolling barrages especially for Fire & Rubble. It would make the attack on Seelow Heights more realistic.
  21. I concur with @LongLeftFlank I wonder why my sniper needed 6 shots at 360 yards to take out an RPG7 in a Foxhole. I am a little of topic, but I shared my recent experience.
  22. Snipers are not particularly performing well. 365 meters experience 'Crack!' Rifle Winchester .300 Magnum it took him 6 shots! Enjoy the show, I almost gave up on him. I know the .300 Winchester Magnum is powerful, but I wouldn't shoot through a wall for a precision shot. Fortunately, Ahmed the RPG7 guy doesn't realize that snipers love them. Rest in peace Ahmed you should have known better.
  23. Windows+G I can't see anything wrong with it. Also, I am not an expert, screen captures are fine with this method.
  24. Weekly that's the only way I play a human opponent. PBEM is I am afraid not for us. We have some house rules, and we like to play huge battles. I understand the majority of PBEM players like small scenarios. Some people like to do MODS, some like to make movies they have something for everybody. Besides, I don't have a Dropbox account.
