Bufo reacted to Sophist_13 in BRDM-2 texture problem and other stuff
Game Engine 4, without mods, 2.13 patch.
BRDM-2 has got a black turret. BRDM-2M and BRDM-2 (ATGM) is ok.
https://ibb.co/5RjFx2M
So, even the last patch didn't fix UKR Kitolov-2M HE (2S1) and Gran HE (2B11):
https://ibb.co/3mf3GzC
https://ibb.co/WVr6vV7
How many time devs need to fix UKR 2S1 and 2B11? Maybe i dramatize, but i believe I had seen this bugs when the game had come out.
P.S. Thanks for valid RPO and 9К123.

Bufo got a reaction from AstroCat in Why are the Combat Mission games poorly optimized?
In turned based mode the performance is the same. But everything is calculated in advance. In other words, there are zero calculations going on and performance is still abysmal.
No, calculations are not the reason.

Bufo got a reaction from liamb in Syncing saved games across two Macs
You can use Dropbox for it with a symlink. But the symlink has to be "Saved Games" folder in the CMBS directory pointing to a directory in your Dopbox folder since Dropbox stopped supprting them the normal way.

Bufo reacted to Apocalypse 31 in Disappointed
Really disappointed in what I've seen with SF2 screenshots.
Looks like the same old CM2 game engine. Call it upgrade 4, upgrade 100...or whatever it's called now. It's still the same engt that was developed in the late 1990s.
I was hoping for something more...perhaps a new game engine that would support larger maps, better terrain, better performance, better multiplayer.

Bufo got a reaction from mazex in CMx2 on modern computers
Hi,
I also use a QHD monitor, but although the size of the panel at the bottom is not so huge, I have no problems reading the text.
Maybe you have graphical problems like on this picture below that makes the text garbled? This happens when you use an intel GPU.

Bufo got a reaction from Bulletpoint in Battlefront Poll
I think the real purpose is something entirely different.
How would the players react if they saw in reality how simple things are in this game?

Bufo reacted to RobZ in Issues with tank targeting accuracy
It's clear to me after reading the responses that very few in this discussion actually understand what the issue is. I'm not saying tacAI should not aim for center mass, I have already stated earlier that this is exactly what they should do. But the issue is their aiming precision, not the gun accuracy. If we put a laser pointer in the tacAI gunner optics, that laser would point constantly on a 1x1 CM square on the targets center mass. That is the issue. If we did the same with a human, that laser would be very many places on the target, still center mass, but not exact pixel perfect center mass. This is what makes the AI too accurate, and this is the issue I have been talking about all along.
The hull down statistics is more or less a response to the "hull down myth", which we see doesn't hold up in all cases. And part of the reason for this is the perfect aiming of the tacAI that makes the overall hit zone very tiny and locked to a spesific area, in this case the upper hull.
@Saint_Fullers post is infact supporting me on this. They aim center mass cus they are not precise enough to aim for spesific areas, yet the tacAI in this game is so precise they can consistently hit the ball machine gun mount if the game told them to aim there.
For the "advanced calculations" required to make the AI aim different places is an odd response, the game already handles this stuff with zeroing shots. It doesn't even need any advanced calculations, just make the AI have a random offset from the pixel perfect center mass point, so they aim more spread out, but still center mass.
I already Agree on many of the more obvious and logical points you guys bring up as that's not the issue I'm pointing out.

Bufo got a reaction from Sven in Invisible tank destroyed
I was waiting for the "nothing wrong here this game is perfect you are stupid" replays.
You think there is nothing wrong with not seeing something that is directly in front of something else that you can see? The situation you described is a totally different situation. The problem is not that he could hit an invisible unit.

Bufo reacted to Sven in Invisible tank destroyed
I just had a Panther take out an invisible tank. It fired on a T-34 it had eyes on, but the round struck another tank beside the first one. How is it possible for the gunner to NOT see that tank?
It then reloaded and took out the first one, but the "invisible" tank still isn't seen. Just the smoke coming out of it.
It turned out to be a very good minute for me, but it's annoying anyway.
It's been mentioned in so many threads, but LOS is screwed up.

Bufo reacted to Heirloom_Tomato in Just Ran Across Combat Mission Again
For me, it is Fortress Italy with all the addons. It has the longest date range, from July 43 to May 45. It has the most number of different nations and the widest TO&E within the nations as well. The game also features the most diverse range of terrain of any of the games; desert, mountains, rural farms with wide open fields to tight vineyards, villages, cities, about the only thing missing is bocage. The game also has every possible weather condition to fight in; from scorching heat to freezing cold blizzards.
The best advice I can give tho is to pick the theatre you are most interested in and start there. Odds are, you will end with them all, so start with the one you are most excited about.

Bufo got a reaction from Bulletpoint in Why are the Combat Mission games poorly optimized?
If I play War Thunder on opengl I get around 50 fps on average with maximum settings in QHD resolution. The video quality and demand is incomparable between the two (in War Thunder it is so much higher).
IMHO the problem is not the opengl here, but the unoptimized or just simply badly written code for the engine. Thats it, nothing else.
