  1. They are brothers with different engines as far as I know. Same ERA (I think?) same FCS (For sure). They both represent the finest spearhead the Russian ground forces can offer. According to Oryx, half of that modern fleet has already been killed.
  2. I'm sure the LAST thing the Russians expect is a counterattack into the rear of Izium, Lyman, and finally Siverodonetsk. Just like 6th army in 1942, maybe it would be wise to ride the river. Hey they would be liberating the coast as said.
  3. It looked like the item in the 3rd image exploded, so not sure what I'm looking at either
  4. It's one thing to hit a tank with an atgm. It's another hitting a Russian T-90 with a lower than usual silhouette. It's an even greater challenge skimming an atgm above the ground and striking the side armor of an already very short tank. Impressive stuff.
  5. I didnt know it could only be accessed internally. Thats crazy. I knew the carousel still contained ammo, but I didnt know it was unable to access the ammo rack. Wow that seems pretty pointless then. Might as well just keep ammo on the rear deck. Also on further inspection I think I found the penetrator, which exploded a few meters before the tank. Is that how tandem charges function? I thought it had to impact first.
  6. Judging by the catostrophic detonation, I would guess Javelin. The front hull and turret is covered with frontal facing ERA which would deform the Stugna's ATGM. Also Stugna wouldnt be used in an offensive role like this. T-64's sabots nor HEAT will penetrate T-90M either. Even if the T-90M took a frontal hit, it has blowout panels in the rear of the turret to prevent a K-kill.
  7. Usually I don't care for this sort of thing, but these are getting ridiculous
  8. Ah Twitter is an endless dumpster filled with brainless wannabes. It's a little more than a BTG. 14 truck transports? I doubt the VDV rides into battle on trucks, and no mechanized brigade has a truck mounted infantry formation that I know of. It's very likely that some BTG level support vehicles were killed. It's always best to be realistic
  9. Don't forget Kharkov was protected by the 93rd Mechanized brigade, with 92nd to it's North. This was around May. 93rd was so successful that they showed off quite a few captured T-80BVMs pretty early on in the war. They were also responsible for the ground gained in that direction before September (AFAIK). I would argue Kharkov was protected by the best for a long time. I never saw the Donestk Airport documentaries but I'm pretty sure there is one about the 93rd's participation there.
  10. Thank you for the kind words. Your words have rejuvenated my desire to proceed with this. Things have taken an interesting turn in this game, as I have picked up a partner to share the load with me. Naturally with that the pace has slowed down, but we have also ran into some small quirky dropbox issues. I will update this soon, but not before this weekend.
  11. You're welcome! I'm currently reading Tigers In The Mud. Although German and from a different time period, Carius liked to drive his tiger at the head of his tiger platoon. But doctrine was 2nd vehicle. I think you are right about the situational awareness required by the HQ.
  12. Oh it's not Eugen? It looks like it's the same engine. As far as I know Eugen rents that game engine to produce games with. I actually saw they created the game R.U.S.E. back in 2011 on seemingly the same engine. I really didnt look into regiments besides their trailers, which looked like an Eugen game clone
  13. They are a lot of fun to use. Bounding or fighting with 3 teams instead of 2 feels much better. 6 man squads are pushing it. Two casualties and you're thinking of heading home. The 4 man BTR fireteams are just a bit too big. The mountain infantry are great
  14. 2 BTG is only 20 MBTs and 80 or 90 something APC or IFVs, and that's not a whole lot to fight with.
  15. Yeah its about time! Amd's first generation ryzen was ok, 2nd gen was wow maybe we're onto something. 3rd gen was omg! 5th gen flat out crushed intel. I'm glad to hear the newest chips will continue the trend. I've been googling amd news every now and then, but new chip generations have stopped coming out as frequently as they used to. The power draw is something to note. Amd CRUSHES Nvidia in terms of performance per watt. I dont think the difference in processors is as significant but we aren't talking nearly as many watts. CPUs have really always pushed for the lower wattages while gpus have always pushed for the most power while staying under 90-100c. You will save a lot of money with AMD and you will have nearly the same experience with an Intel or Nvidia chip. Though the AMD graphics cards have driver issues currently.
  16. This is exactly what I posted about a couple pages up in the thread. 38th Army (Though by this point close to defeated) held a line nearly from Kharkov to Izium. We are seeing a fraction of those fighting forces being used today.
  17. I definitely don't split troops to pick up ammo, they are smart enough to distribute it correctly. I do split squads on contact, as Chuck said, or when I know contact is close enough to engage my troops. Splitting squads will give you an edge up on unsplit squads. It's all about suppression. Maximizing the amount of rounds you can put down, while minimizing the rounds you take. And you can do that by splitting squads so they aren't all getting suppressed from the same shooter. I will also split AT teams in desperate times, and scout teams on the wings of long marches
  18. Yeah those Mrap's are sitting on top of the front line, I never thought I would see them used that way. Pretty risky
  19. I wonder if it's software controlled, and I also wonder if the helicopters came that way
  20. I have it turned up to the max. Now when smoke comes through the forest, THAT is amazing! It's a very cool effect when ground is set to "Very dry"
