Not a communist but since socialism and communism even here are used pretty much interchangeably he's a good enough example.

I don't think communists have a lock on unfair elections.  At the time they were deciding to not hold elections in Vietnam, the Montgomery bus boycott was just starting.  There are plenty of examples even today where truly free and fair elections aren't fully the norm.

And much of the news coverage has been "woe is Ukraine, they don't stand a chance" rather than "why can't the alleged second most powerful army in the world take a small town like Bakhmut in months, and why are they trying anyway?"

Gonna just say that while I disagree with your definitions and premise and would expound more on it, it's not relevant to the thread at this juncture. Back to the war....

Battlefront is aware of this issue and are looking at it. However this issue is more likely in AMD's court. The 22.7.1 drivers brought in a bunch of OpenGL optimizations and it is one (or several) of those optimized routines for implementing OpenGL that has caused these problems.
These optimizations have brought some welcome speed improvements to CM for Radeon users. CM loads multiple times faster than it did before. However they have also caused problems that everyone in this thread is aware of now. I don't know how hard it would be for Battlefront to reprogram some of the visual affects in CM that are affected by these optimizations. Using different calls/methods to reproduce some of the effects may be complex enough to almost not be worth the effort. At its simplest it may result in an option to turn off certain effects for compatibility purposes.
If AMD were to address this issue there could be a couple of possibilities:
AMD figures out that some of the optimizations need refining and are able to find a fix and maintain the speed improvements.
    or
AMD realizes that the optimizations are incompatible with certain OpenGL calls. This results in a decision to:
    1) Consider the incompatible calls as deprecated in their OpenGL implementation - this can be a likely scenario if the calls are older and there are others that are considered suitable replacements (however harder they might be for programmers to implement). The optimizations all remain in place and potentially benefit the majority of OpenGL programs, but CM suffers.
    or
    2) Possibly reverse/sacrifice some of the optimizations in order to make CM work with their current OpenGL implementation. This would result in a driver that wasn't as fast in all respects as the current ones, but it may still be an improvement speed-wise over earlier drivers. Depending on what programs were affected by the optimizations this could take several possible paths.
               a) If several significant programs were affected and only a few changes are necessary (and thus most speed improvements remain), this could be the driver base for OpenGL going forward. Future drivers will have these fixes and CM will continue to work with newer drivers.
               or
               b) If only a few programs are affected and/or many optimizations have to be dropped or engineered in a manner that significantly reduces the performance benefit the optimizations originally provided. Then AMD could release (if it found that the effort has significant enough demand) a 'beta' driver that may be a 'dead end'. Future updates would NOT utilize this as a base for OpenGL, but instead implement the full OpenGL optimizations of the previous driver. This 'beta driver' would have some speed improvements and compatibility with the latest Radeons, but this would potentially be the last driver supporting certain OpenGL calls in a manner compatible with CM.
I have seen in the past when AMD has reached out to Battlefront to get more info on certain bugs in their drivers. However even with the intense initial interest in fixing the problem it took 9 months to get a driver release that fixed the problem (which was more significant in its effect than the problems experienced here).

One way to interpret this is that the MOD and Wagner both don't have shells. LOL

Much from Marx &  Engels and Lenin are still valid. Gramsci, Frankfurt school, Zizek, all have made good contributions to philosophy, sociology and political economy. Dialectical materialism is a useful framework. Anarchist contributions towards anti authoritarian and horizontal frameworks of living and organizing are valuable too, offering alternatives to systems and ethics based on exploitation, chauvinism and profit over all else.
Socialist authors to this day are still critiquing current affairs and dominant ideologies in a way that profit centered, corporate owned media cannot DARE to do(for obvious reasons).
The sheer hostility towards their work by people who haven't read them, and the way they are all strawmanned by oligarch funded sock puppets(when not outright banned or kept out of circulation) is quite telling.
Bosses don't tend to like it when people ask for more, and question the power relations and double standards.  Cultural chauvinists and dogmatic religious leaders don't like when their mythological grand narratives have holes poked in them. And people who claim to oppose tyranny and support freedom want to suppress the ideas and books and the people they disagree with.

The important term here is "are going to". So far they haven't and even if they are going to, I wouldn't count on these countries running back into our arms. As for Wagner: True, but I remember the Brasilian reaction when asking them to join the pro-Ukraine Camp. "Where was the West when the USA interfered in Middle and South America?" (Often militarily and quite against international law, one might add). This is not meant as whataboutism but there isn't all that much that China or Russia do that the West hasn't done before.

Au contraire! During the last years China has been making offers to countries that did not just involve mining resources, flooding markets with subsidized products, giving "development aid" to autocrats and preaching. It is in our best interest to make better offers, that's it. After the end of the Cold War we somehow forgot there may be competition out there. Now, there definitely is and I'd rather not have China (or Russia) gather overly much support.

Well, it tells us that the rest of the world doesn't buy our pretty Sunday speeches, and rightly so. Our precious western values apply mostly to ourselves and definitely only extend to other regions of the world as far as they don't interfere with our interests. Which usually means we don't give a f*** about autocrats as long they are "our" autocrats and we don't care about human rights when cheap resources and workforce are better accessible without them.
That's why it means nothing to quite a few countries that we are democracies and China and Russia are not. For them it matters how they are treated and as a matter of fact, so far we have a worse track record.
What we should learn from that is that we shouldn't take it for granted that we are seen as the good guys and everyone gathers under our banner. If this is to become a clash of systems then we better make sure to win the hearts and minds of the rest of the world through deeds not words.

I agree 100% with Beau of the Fifth's assessment.   We have recent history to confirm that.   Invasion is the easy part.   Occupation is the hard.   Look at the US/Coalition experience in Iraq and Afghanistan.   The opposition was pushed aside easy enough.  Just a couple of weeks or a month tops.  But the occupation portion was where the hard grind was.   Some of the toughest fights in Iraq were the Fallujah battles, which was during the occupation portion.   20 years of occupation in Afghanistan resulted in a withdrawal, conceding a win to the Taliban.
Russia is struggling and getting hammered during the easy part, the invasion.   Assuming Russia could occupy Ukraine (almost statistically impossible but not zero) would be 10x worst dealing with an well organized insurgency.  And Ukraine was looking and planning for an insurgency before Russian crossed the border.   So they have already prepared and trained for it.    Russia will be bled white during the occupation.  Hell, they are being bled white during the invasion portion.   Managing an occupation is an near impossible lift for them now.

Sure, a lot of this is force management and leadership/culture.  But let’s also not get too high on ourselves here either.  Plenty of militaries have won wars not employing either our culture, C2 philosophy or force management methods. Taliban just handed the west and its proxies their bums and they definitely do not follow our systems, as an example.
The whole “the UA is winning because they fight like us” has a lot of flaws and holes that sound nice and make us feel good.  But they  also just reinforce the belief that “we are just great as we are”, which is really dangerous given that some fundamentals are currently up for grabs.  We can say that the UA has sustained troop quality far better than the RA, which is definitely something.

Omg yes! I loaded a saved game in under a minute, usually takes up to 5, long enough for the landing screen song to play multiple times. I'd have time to make food during loads usually. Scrolling and input lag virtually gone too, and it was REALLY bad in CMCW.
I think maybe i need to upload a video of how bad the white flashing is, if stuff is dying during an artillery strike the game is practically unplayable. I may as well be throwing flashbangs at myself in a COD game.

As pointed out in that recent video by Kraut, the political and economic conditions in Russia created by shock therapy in the 90s, are a window into what will happen in the west if governments are allowed to continue to allow oligarchs and concentrated money/powerblocs to grow and dominate everyone else.

Can the west defeat Russia? It won't matter if it virtually becomes Russia. NamEndedAllen offered one highly specific scenario, there are many others though.
Also as an aside I work as an engineer on the west coast with no debt, and I can't afford a house.

It will never not make me laugh that the party that's now bitching about money spent in Ukraine...as opposed to Ohio...were the same party that gutted the regulations that would have done much to stop or mitigate the East Palestine disaster.
And to drag this back on topic...that 5% of the US budget spent on Ukraine to wreck the Russian army is pretty much the bargain of the millennium. Stop having yourselves on.

Actually I don't disagree, but the problem isn't that we are giving money to Ukraine, it is that we don't support our own folks.  We could do both.  Why we don't take care of our own people is a domestic issue and really has nothing to do with Ukraine.  Frustrating?  Yes
As someone who's COBRA benefits are about to run out and I am now researching the medical care marketplace I have a strong opinion about how we take care of our own and who has effed that up, but that is for an offline discussion.
