.50 cal can straight up cause friendly casualties. If you saw it with 556 or 762 then it would be more interesting.

Maybe. Simulating it is hard. Given the TacAI limitations and human player issues along with orders (not able to say fire on that building until the entry team is within 20m) means that it would be all to easy to create friendly fire incidents that are way above normal. Couple that with the complaints it would generate and I can see BFC just choosing to not tackle improving this aspect of the game any further.

I've never seen this tank described as a "Hybrid" before. And I always thought that it came from 11th Armoured Division. You learn new things even at my age.

I played a scenario a few months back in CMRT where a Partisan group had to attack an isolated AA position while it was air raided by IL2s.

This was the first time I noticed that units can misidentify friendly soldiers for enemies.
I even got a direct casualty in this instance which was clearly struck by a comrade of his.
Most of the time though it seems that they get rather pinned than shot down.
I guess that is intentional by BFC to be this way. Wouldnt be fun if a whole squad gets whiped out by a single "friendly" madman...though maybe realistic in some cases.
Most likely it has to do with the chain of command, daylight, weather and other visual obscurances.
Most partisans had only contact to the guys next to them since it was a pitch black night in that scenario. So often a platoon didnt know where the others were.
Since regular military formations of that time had at least one radio in a platoon, company or at least close by, everyone knew roughly where the rest of the formation were. So it would be more rare  in those to misidentify enemy and friendly troops I think.

Yes, there is an alternative. There are 17 missions in the campaign but there are two missions that you can go to after Hell in the Hedgerows - Breakthrough if you win and Stalemate if you lose. Both use the same map and more or less the same OBs but there is quite a difference between them

A challenge in CM2 is that even if one has (say) a battalion of troops occupying a location, a single cowering enemy hidden someplace in that location can deny you the victory of "occupying" the objective.  CM1 handled this much better as (IIRC) it looked at the percentage of forces in a location and allocated victory in that more reasonable way.

    Indeed a good explanation.
Not to mention that it pays to control a bit around the objective some how to prevent the enemy from reentering it especially those pesky human opponents. 🙂

That's a great addition! In fact I already made a mod of it using the hull from R2V's Firefly Hybrid :

If I hear of an extremely late M4 75mm variant though, it would be the M4A1E9.
It was basically a "poor man's" HVSS suspension made by extending the VVSS's track connectors and achieving the same width and thus ground pressure. I believe these would start being present on the front around March 1945.
It seems only M4A1s were remanufactured, no M4's.

Seen here in service with the 2nd French Armored division in late April 1945 :

Here is an article on this.

To recapitulate, I hope the Sherman IC Firefly Hybrid (Commonwealth + Poles) and the Sherman IIA (Polish faction only) will be ported from R2V.

Well at least my lack of attention to reading the forum thread has put Chris front and centre for the forthcoming thanks 🙌.  And no doubt the odd criticism like 'why wasn't the bicycle panzerfaust included?'.

Thank you, for both your kind words re- my cancer treatment. And for your explanation about the Shermans. As a FCUM-ite, I can't see the word "BURY" without "MRE Louder than bombs" coming to mind.

You can tell a Sherman I Hybrid from the hull hatches and the fact that the front hull is made from cast armor while the rest is welded.
Late model hulls, on which most of the Sherman Hybrid (or in US nomenclature, Composite) production was based on, had hatches larger than the earlier ones.

By the way, congratulations on your recovery!

As it happens, that's an option I was considering. The StuGs get spotted instantly by Shermans anyway so not much would really be lost.

I think the areas you're describing in some of the earlier missions are not orchards but woods. At least that's what they appear to be in Google Earth. You must surely have them in Normandy too
Neuville can definitely be changed though because that's a big orchard and not a wood but don't worry, I can do this myself.
Hell in the Hedgerows, Orchard Hill and Breakthrough - Stalemate can't be changed without doing the AI placement and plans all over again. I tried replacing the orchards and units that could see through the old, un-Norman orchards couldn't anymore. That's a LOT of work. It'll get done at some point though as now you've pointed it out to me, I want the maps to be as authentic as the editor will let me.

    EDIT to add:
Neuville is done. it looks good too. It actually helps the defenders as well. Thanks for bringing that one to my attention.

Hello, I have just noted the different scenarios where the orchards are not “Norman” if some are purely cosmetic, others actually risk modifying the gameplay orchard hill for example.
    -Breaktrough
    -Ecoqueneauville
    -Le grand hameau
    - Hell in hedgerows
    -Labyrinth
    -Licornet
    -Neuville
    -orchards hill
    -stalemate
as I told you I can modify them, I'm waiting for your greenlight.
it might take a little time though !!
in relation to the problem raised by Kohlbie I made a post a while ago about an issue with an old scenario where units were placed in front of hedges at startup; this one didn't generate much interest I reinstalled the game, it stopped but randomly reappeared maybe something changed in the last update

I'm not sure what to do about this. I tried having the StuGs advance one action spot to the bocage line at the start of the mission and they don't poke through. Good, but they can't spot diddly either. The one in the east gets spotted pretty much instantly - I drove a buttoned up Sherman into the field and as soon as it entered, it spotted the StuG behind the bocage and started firing. Of course, the StuG couldn't see anything at all and took three hits (ineffective except to close the hatches further reducing their chances to spot).
We had the opposite on the east flank where nobody could see anybody else so the StuG is completely ineffective and safe.
So, what to do? I think I'll just leave it as is because at least they can do something even if it looks weird.

I was doing soo well until my tank got hosed down by a hidden flamethrower team just at the critical moment and exploded like an A bomb 😱

Now I'm just goofing around. Here's an Opel Kadet 'flavor object' stuck on flooded ground. The cream color is the original factory paint scheme. The assembly plant wound up on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain and Kadets continued to be produced well into the 1950s. Post-war Eastern Bloc Kadets were painted in blues and reds and greens.
