  1. Thanks sburke. CM Helper works great most of the time now. Just once in awhile, at the start of a PBEM, I have a problem getting it to recognize a file when somebody else initiates the PBEM. This is a really cool system. Hard to believe I used sendthisfile.com for so long.
  2. This is interesting stuff. Thanks for posting it.
  3. That was Sublime's T-90 so I don't know what round was used in the point blank shot. Only the results ....... okay, okay, I'll stop. If Sublime reads this maybe he will tell us. Of course he may be having difficulty typing........ I think he injured his hand when he rage punched the wall after the playback ........... Okay..okay ..... seriously...... I will shut up now..... ................
  4. Currahee150, This is from an ongoing PBEM game so for OPSEC reasons I am reluctant to give away to much information. However I decided the benefit on the Psyops side of the house (when my PBEM opponent reads this ) would out way the OPSEC disadvantage. No, the point blank shot from a T-90 did not penetrate. It hit the ERA. The crew is okay, however it did cause some major equipment damage. But, in the below screenshot, if you notice the status of the 120mm main gun ................. The next turn should be interesting. Kieme, really looking forward to your complete user interface mod. This U/I screenshot would look so much cooler!
  5. Excellent work Kieme. Your mods definitely make the game look so much better. I hope your able to incorporate Mord's suggestion about the ammo the weapons take. Your Special Equipment panel is very cool. It makes the other panels look rather drab. If you have the time and motivation to bring the rest of the user interface up to your standards that would really rock. And I like the tank silhouette. Nicely done.
  6. LOL Okay, Okay .......... It was just to easy ..... I couldn't help it......... Now I will entertain myself by returning some PBEM turns.
  7. Nice shot. Apparently ERA or APS (whatever the M1 had) did not help. I wonder if the M1 got a laser warning. Well, good luck with the remaining M1s.........
  8. Here is the view from the Russian perspective.
  9. Welcome back!! The place was not the same without you.
  10. John, I think the above posts reference using the F/O for arty calls, instead of the FAC when possible, is at the core of your problem. The below link has some interesting information on the topic which you might find useful. While the thread is from a WWII title it also has information for calling for fire in Black Sea. Good luck with that. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/118608-command-vehicle-radios-vs-backpack-radios/#entry1590508
  11. If there is an XO he will take over command. The below thread and screen shots are from a WWII title but it works the same in Black Sea. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/118325-xo-takes-over-from-kia-co/
  12. Womble, are you sure about the radio part? I thought if you got the XO a radio the C3 chain was re-established. Some of us talked about it earlier on the below thread: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/118325-xo-takes-over-from-kia-co/ In the WWII titles and Shock Force I tend to use the XO as a medic for buddy aid if the parent platoon of the casualty needs to keep moving and can't stop for casualties. In Black Sea I have been experimenting with having the XO with the recon / screening force. Of course if the CO goes down the XO is recalled to the TOC ASAP.
  13. It is another cool thing about the game that incapacitated wounded (light red) can change to KIA (dark red). This is one of the reasons I think it is worthwhile to try to get buddy aid to all the wounded if possible. Once buddy aid is successful the incapacitated wounded troop is evacuated (disappeared) from the map and his status is locked in at incapacitated. One less potential KIA on the AAR screen. It also helps to make the game more realistic. In RL a commander must take the time and resources to deal with casualties. Every once in awhile I will have a tiny battle within the larger battle as I try to get buddy aid to wounded troops. And even if the troop is KIA buddy aid still recovers ammo and certain equipment. Lots of cool stuff with this game.
  14. This is the best most understandable explanation of infantry and waypoints I think I have seen. Wish I would have know / understood this when I first started playing. If this was added to the game manual verbatim, under the Move Commands section, it would be a good thing.
  15. Hmmmm. I wonder if there would be a way to do a modified raid on Entebbe type scenario with this map..........
  16. Thanks Chudacabra. I am looking forward to this. I wonder if there will be an opportunity to take advantage of your amphibious vehicles with that river and the US lack of amphibious capability. Should be interesting.
  17. rocketman, This is interesting stuff. Most of my bunker busting TACSOP is centered around using demo teams. It probably would not have occurred to me to use a tank's Target light instead of Target. If you come to some final conclusions on this or just some more useful observations please let us know.
  18. All the suggestions above are excellent. Just wanted to emphasize one of womble's. Some people aren't readers but if you are or can make yourself read the manual this suggestion will go a long way to establishing a firm foundation upon which to build your understanding of the game. I keep a copy of the newest PDF game engine manual (v3.01 as of this typing) on my desktop. I use the PDF tools to highlight in the manual and make notes in the margin (Just like we did back in the day with real books). Then when I am trying to understand some aspect of the game I refer back to the manual and the search tool on this forum.
  19. +1. This would make things so much quicker and easier.
  20. I thought I had replied to this yesterday but I don't see my reply in the thread. Sorry if this ends up being a double post. I think a Tunguska is a must for most Russian TOE purchases. (Unless your playing infantry only or something) And I have first hand experience of how devastating F-15Es can be. That circles back around to my first point. I should have had a Tunguska. Next time.
  21. Good job Ian. I would not have guessed that it would actually work. With nine launchers in the platoon that could be a long chain. 18 action spots or 144 meters. Also then I guess all three BMPs could be positioned within sharing distance of that first Igla launcher? Then the first guy would have access to 12 missiles etc. Not that this is very practical in a shooting game environment but it is interesting to see how the game mechanics work.
  22. Yes. That was my battalion. I worked in the Division G2. I was there from early 1984 until my ETS in 1987. I was (Until I got off post housing as an E-5) in the 1st barracks along Ardennes Street across from the church. I think they renamed / organized the Companies at some point. But I remember C Company. Maybe HQ company before that? Top Highland was the 1st Sgt and then after him it was the ranger dude Rodriguez? We also had Division recon in the battalion. Some of us, including 17Ms, went to Honduras during the US presidential elections. That is when we jumped with the Honduran 2nd Airborne Battalion and earned Honduran jump wings. Sorry for all that. Maybe I should have PMd.
