A twenty tile radius at one km sounds a bit much for me, but half that might be okay.
Actually, I feel like the anxiety over sound placement is a bit exaggerated. Sound placement was a regular phenomenon during battle; the bigger the bang, the more accurate the placement, other factors such as wind direction and volume being equal. Also, the more rounds fired from a given location, the more accurate the placement is apt to become. That's why in an ambush it was desirable to fire a few shots and then displace to a second location and then perhaps to a third.

Good lord fella, don't be daft.....Appreciate the insights you offer, but the real world has to come first (I know just what you mean about things suddenly all jumping on you at once too). 

I apologize for the delay on this AAR.. when I started this project I had nothing else going on, but now I am suddenly swamped with a few other projects so I have to fit this in when I can and it is the lower priority right now.  I will get an update posted this week I can promise you that.

 Enjoying this so much.  I concur.  Very poignant shot of the scout and his fallen comrade.  I've seen that happen over and over in the AARs I posted.  The screen shot is so telling that you have to use it.

They are a speed bump.. and their job is to delay and report the enemy movements.. I don't want to lose them but am willing to make that sacrifice if I can discern his exact attack route.

The more relevant issue is that the barrel change system on MG34 is much better for use in a ball mount than the system MG42 used.
With a 34 you just rotate the receiver out of the way and pull the barrel out straight backwards, like so:


In an MG42, you pull barrels out like this:

There isn't really room to do this were the gun to be mounted into a Kugelblende.

PzIV commander would use the bow mg for air defense and security overwatch when on the march.
I once worked with an old ex-Pacific jungle-fighter who said troops HATED the armor shield on M16. The armor was too thin to stop anything but it would cause the bullet to tumble before hitting you, causing ghastly wounds. If they're going to get shot they'd prefer a clean penetration that had a chance of being treated medically.
 

Ah, the blesséd Meatchopper. Back when I was in high school, I knew a guy who had served in one of those during the war. When I knew him he worked for a major meat packing company. I always thought that was kind of poetic.

I made this video a while ago as a sort of test to get a feel for editing together clips from a CM battle. The clips are taken from the middle of an ongoing battle in CMRT. Aside from a few rough cuts here and there, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The video ends as quickly as it does due to the 4.0 bug striking and ruining the rest of the footage. Still though it was a good proof of concept. 
 
This next video is a rough edit of my attempt to recreate the "Bleach Bypass" effect seen in films such as Saving Private Ryan. I think it came out pretty well.
