  1. Marco Bergman made a great armor/penetration chart: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=98847
  2. I had the same thought. Downloaded another few Nasheeds (thats what this genre of music is called) and put togather a little mini-mod with new splashscreens & music to increase immersion for Shock Force players who like to play as UnCons. http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=2593 You can DL it at the Repository as soon as it gets approved. The music will work with CMBN/CMA or whatever other CMx2 game too if you put into your Z folder. BTW thanks for re-uploading, baron.
  3. Thanks for uploading, but the link doesnt work for me. Says "Download permission denied by uploader. (0b67c2f5)"
  4. When you play RT hide is very effective for ambushes though. Have some distant unhid spotters with LOS on the killzone and the ambushing troops on hide with short covered arcs. Open fire as desired. The problem with setting up ambushes in combination with the HIDE command IMO only exists in WeGo gameplay. Off course one can set up highly effective ambushes in WeGo too, but when i lay out an ambush in WeGo the set-up differs from the set-up in RT because i cant have my troops hide until i want them to open up.
  5. +1 In Theatre of War 1 and early versions of Theatre of War 2 wich both had friendly fire for grenades and small arms a LOT of micromanagement was required just to keep your troops from constantly throwing grenades at friendlies feet. Close assaulting enemy positions could easily result in more casualties due to friendly fire than enemy fire, the only solution was to order your troops not to use grenades except if specifically ordered to do so by he player. Now imagine the amount of workload required to micromanagement each and every single grenade throw in an engagement with several companys involved... I am very happy with the way CMx2 treats friendly fire and hand grenades.
  6. T-72 destroyed by RPG-7, shooters perspective: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VM_ckeeV_o&list=PL063D5Uzz1ZTGkxPjmXdhe_VHF54xanFN The most deadly missile of the FSA:
  7. Something else concerning the scenario editor: give us the option to acquire equipment from vehicles in the editor! Currently you cant hand out the Javelins from the US Army vehicles in the editor wich largely reduces the infantry anti-armor capabilities of a Blue AI. The only way i think that currently might work (havent tested it yet) would be to bake the scenario and issue orders to the AI troops so they acquire the Javelins and then move into positions during the first turn.
  8. GeorgeMC, your project sounds awesome. I would love to see a scenario dedicated to be used with the Euroscape mod. So, the 2 nationalities i would love to see where either Brits and/or US Army vs Veteran Russian units. Would also fit Eastern Europe much better than the Syrians IMO. So, how about these guys for example for the Russian OOB? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_4th_Guards_Kantemirovskaya_Tank_Division
  9. How about that picture overlay for the scenario editor? Havent tried it yet but it sounds incredibly useful for mapmakers. I found printing out satelite images and using them for making maps making both inaccurate and cumbersome in CMSF.
  10. Did they see the tank? IME hiding unit often have troubles seeing tanks until they almost litterally run over them.
  11. British stock campaign, mission 6 or 7. I love that sort of thing .
  12. Then you will have to make do with what you know and persume the most likely possible truth as true until proven otherwise, but just the fact that one fails to completely understand a certain matter doesnt mean that information doesnt exist and cant be acquired later or by someone else.
  13. Yellow minefields are marked, so units have a higher chance of passing through without detonating a mine. A green sign means that all mines of certain a minefield are detonated.
  14. Now that s a good example. You could throw yourself to the ground, praying "Oh almighty Aris, god of re-texturing CMBN, i, the unworthy, bow before your divine and incredible abilitys, awaiting your commandments.". Or you could question the matter and find out Aris did nothig but combine laboriously acquired Photoshop skills with probably several hundered man-hours of work and a simple "Thank you, great job." will do.
  15. If i can not or do not understand something, the only reasonable action would IMO be not to just accept it but to question why i cant or dont understand it. Just accepting things as given without questioning them is IMO the worst thing one can do. If both are able to draw logically correct conclusions than the difference between the two who view a certain matter and see either the truth or a contradiction can only lie in the different premises wich the two use as base for their conclusions. If a colourblind person and one with fully functional eyesight were the only 2 humans on earth, they wouldnt be able to determine wether the sky is blue or green. However if they persumed that the sky can only have one colour at the same time, they could conclude that the difference between their perception is caused by their differently functioning eyesight and that the apearent contradtiction is not really a contradiction. So in this metaphor questioning what both experienced as given instead of accepting it led to resolution of the seeming contradiction.
  16. Oh yeah, those tree bursts can be real killers...something i learned the hard way too!
  17. Well, if someone promotes such highly unusual view as John does, i dont think its a wonder that some people mock him a bit. But i dont think anyone really wants to make him feel unwelcome.
  18. That is the Sturmkuh 42. One of germanys most secret V-Waffen projects, right after the Jagdhamster. It is painted in germanys aircraft camo scheme: EDIT: sorry for spamming the thread, i couldnt resist.
  19. Cant someone be tolerant and express disagreement at the same time? To be honest the first thing i wanted to reply to this thread was something like after seening Johns webpage. Thought it would be disespectful though as this thread is more about his health than his personal beliefes.
  20. You kinda implied it. When i said that the governments actions are crimes, you answeared something like "but the rebels are doing it too!" wich pretty much sounded like a justification to me. No, this is not what i said. I actually expected that you would turn that arguement around. What i wanted to express is that no matter what the rebels or terrorists or whatever you want to call them do, a government that has its forces commit such crimes is in general not one that is suited to stay in power. The fact that possible replacements arent very convinient either is a different story. My initially posted opinion still remains unchanged, though. The FSA is not a very homogenous group and at least as far as i know most of its leadership has condemed such actions commited by some of its independent brigades. Also, doesnt the current situation fit your description very well too? Its only that the Alawites are choosing who is for dinner. So the conclusion is that one has to choose wether to support a piece of sh*t or a pile of t*rd - not a very convenient situation. Probably my last few posts were in some parts not differentiating enough, they were pretty much motivated by the video i had seen.
  21. You can open the sceanrio in the editor and look it up. That is the only way to find it out if it is not mentioned in the briefing.
  22. Probably from a syrian army depot. It would also be possible that deserting syrian soldiers brought it with them. Other possibly sources would be Lybia or Saudi Arabia. There is a difference though between equipping rebels and funding a ~150.000 mercenary force, the latter is noteably more expansive. Using weapons that were imported also doesnt make the rebels mercenaries.
