  1. I agree, turrets are moving quite robotic. I think that impression could be the result of the turrets missing accelaration and decelaration when they rotate. IRL a tanks turret has to accelerate to the speed with wich it rotates and then decelerate in order to stop turning, both processes wich happen over a certain amount of time. In the game however tank turrets always rotate at full speed IIRC, acceleration and deceleration happen instantaniously. That may be why they are looking robotic.
  2. So basically what we need to do is to recruit more wargames for BFC so they can afford to hire more progamers.
  3. I think i am going to make a splash screen / music mod for CMRT. All other splash screen mods i ve found at the repository for all other ww2 CMx2 titles were all in black and white. I feel that is taking the life out of the pictures, IMO it is much more immersive to have colored ones. I already started to collect appropriate pictures, examples below: http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/3887/panzerivfarbbild2012pic.jpg http://static.fjcdn.com/pictures/WW2+Color+Combat+Photo+Whermacht_2c40a8_3803259.jpg EDIT: btw, i would be very happy if anyone could point me to any eastern front high quality photograph in colour. High quality color photos of that period are quite rare, even on the internet.
  4. If you have lots of RAM you could create a ramdisk. Install an instance of CM there and then create an image of that ramdisk so you wont have to go through the previous steps each time you want to launch CM from your RAM. That would speed up the process of loading levels or starting the game because no data has to be loaded from you harddrive.
  5. Maybe a lack of feedback means that the scenario is of, well, just standard quality, that it doesnt stand out among the rest. I know from my own commenting behavior that i only give feedback at the BFC Repository or here at the forums if something really impressed me, positively or negatively. Another reason for why i dont often give feedback is because i often download lots of scenarios in one big 'Repository-looting-orgy' and then only play them months after downloading them. If something then doesnt turn out to be truely exceptional work, i dont really feel like i want to go look the Repository page up and leave a comment. I personally make scenarios only for myself (or mostly) and most import for me is the feedback of the people who volunteer for testing, and they often give me very helpful and accurate feedback. For all the others, if they like my scenarios, that is great, if they dont, well, life is cruel. Feedback from non-testers is welcome but not really necessary for me.
  6. From Wikipedia: "On another occasion Macpherson took decisive action as the Second Motorised SS Infantry Division and the Das Reich Division pushed towards the fragile Normandy beach-head. Unarmed and accompanied by a doctor and a French officer, he drove a stolen German Red Cross Land Rover through ten miles of enemy-held territory, through machine gun fire and straight to the Das Reich Division headquarters where, dressed in full Highland regalia, he warned that he would unleash heavy artillery and call on the RAF if they did not surrender. In consequence, 23,000 German troops surrendered. It was a bluff that may have saved thousands of lives." Wait, he did what? I laughed out loud when i read that story.
  7. Yeah, that makes sense, although i ve never done that intentionally yet. The idea of invisible forcefields that cause surrendering soldiers to automatically teleport to the next POW camp depending on whose local forcefield is stronger is quite an abstract representation of how i imagine taking prisioners works IRL.
  8. Where did they get that LeFH 18 from? We a have one of those in the Military History Museum over here in Vienna, IIRC.
  9. 1) you cant disarm surrendering soldiers and send em back to the POW camp in CM & 2) sometimes a surrendering soldier in CM will pick up his weapon again and start shooting. If they cant be disarmed and there is the possibility of them starting to shoot again, they still pose a threat, even if their arms are above their heads momentarily, so their are legitimate targets and eliminating them would give you a tactical advantage.
  10. Kind of, although i had to first look up what a 'Harrier' is before iu could agree to this . The image of a bunch of dogs chasing a single fox in a hunt was exactly the image i had in my mind when i tried to describe what 'Hetzer' could translate too. Like on the image below, where the dogs are the 'Hetzers'
  11. Dont know if there is already a discussion abut this, but i just read this in the features list and i think it deserves to be mentioned: "AI Triggers allow AI forces to execute actions based on other units or interaction with Objectives" This is awesome and one of the best new features IMO. Its is going to allow scenario designers to bring their scenarios to a whole new level in termns of realism and challenge! It means that the AI will actually be able to actively respond to the players actions on a tactical level and not only follow a pre-planned program of movements! This means that for example the AI is going to be able to choose between different plans of attack based on reconaissence results or that it will be able to reloacte its forces during a defensive mission in order to prevent a breakthrough! Example: If recon unit 1 touches objective A then attack via avenue of approach A or else attack via avenue of approach B etc....
  12. Oh yeah, hit decals are definately going to increase the immersion of the game.
  13. Just in case somebodys is interested: 'Hetzer'is a great name for a TD: It s german for 'he who chases/chevys something' but it cant be translated as 'hunter'. 'Predator' would be a good translation, but it is also not entirely accurate too. Anyways, I like name Hetzer because it sounds really nasty. My favorite german TD is the Jagdpanzer IV/70 though: it combines the low shiloutte of a german turretless TD with the awesome penetrating power of the Panthers main 75 mm gun.
  14. Looks great. btw because it seemed like you were having issues with google earth: wikimapia is another great source for satelite images. http://wikimapia.org/
  15. Files uploaded to the battlefront.com Repository are always cheked by an admin before they are made available for download, this usually take one or two days. You will need the NATO module to play the scenario. Additionally i highly recommend using Mords Civil War mod wich can be found here: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=2283
  16. Here is the DL link: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=2984 The .rar file contains both versions.
  17. A website called nukemap3d* that is based on google earth has the feature to use historical satelite images instead of the latest ones - maybe google earth has that feature too? If you zoom in closely, a clock symbol will appear in the lower left corner of your browser window, allowing you access to a control panel that lets you change the satelite images google earth uses. *http://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap3d/ Fore some reason the standard google earth plugin is currently not working with my version of firefox, otherwise i would check if the standard google earth plugin lets you do that too.
  18. I am going to upload this scenario to the repository tonight. It is finished and there are two versions available: one balanced for Red vs. Blue SP and one balanced for H2H. The H2H version is only different to the SP version in that the attacking forces have significantly more firepower, otherwise they are identical. I will post the links here as soon as i have uloaded it.
  19. I dont have any favorite russian assault rifle but i really the anthem of the USSR. It is the best song to sing with comrades when beeing drunk!
  20. I dont know exactley how to install the games, but i am sure the info is available somwhere at the BFC website. However i could upload the latest exes (all modules, patched to 1.32) to Dropbox so you can dl them as needed. Actually i think that i am going to put them there anyways so i can dl them myself if AVG decides again to delete them, so it would not be an additional effort for me to make them available for you too. Send me a PM with the nickname/email (i am not sure exactly wich of the two i need) you use at Dropbox if you want too.
