  1. Hmm, maybe. I am working at laptop/PC repair shop and approximately 95% of the computers that brought to us are Windows machines, so Microsoft appears to be still extremely dominant on the market. C# was recommended to me by an experienced programmer as a good language for starters because, while on the one hand it is comparably safe and easy to learn, it bears lots of similaritys with Java, C and C++, so it can serve as jump-off point in case one desires to expand ones knowledge later on.
  2. One actionspot is 8x8m in size. Two actionspots wich are 6 actionspots apart have thus 48 meters between them.
  3. It is said that the hug canon was mounted as primary weapon on the feared DO-ME-69, a combat aircraft produced in cooperation by the companys Messerschmidt and Dornier.
  4. You usually learn as you go, but there are tons of excellent tutorials on youtube, like the one done by the Armchair General magazine: There is a Wiki: http://combatmission.wikia.com/wiki/Combat_Mission_Wiki And this Website: http://battledrill.blogspot.co.at/2013/08/combat-mission-tactical-problems-cmtp.html Further info can be found in any reasonable article about real WW2 tactics. The rule of the thumb in CM is that if you do it the way you would be doing it in real life, you are doing it right.
  5. Agreed, i often had my tanks sucessfully engage a target with a grey target line.
  6. If you had a couple of WW2 tanks, a couple of infantry reenactors, a 'playground', such as an army MOUT training site, you could reenact different tactical situations and then statistically quantify the real tank crews spotting capabilities. For example: if in 10 out of 100 instances of a specific tactical situation the reenacting tank crew spots the personell hidden in the bushes 30 meters away at their 9 o clock within a specified amount of time, this result could be translated to a 10 percent spotting probability for close by infantry hidden in an action spot with foliage on it during each cycle of the spotting loop it in CMx2.
  7. Probably someone was testing the newly designed CMRT part of the website and accidentially made it available for public view. It happens.
  8. 'Drilling' is german for 'triplet'. The plural is Drillinge. Sometimes shotguns with 3 barrels are referred to as Drilling in german. EDIT: Ahh, wait. Maybe womble was talking about a weapon on a tripod or a weapon mount on wich three seperate weapons are mounted, like that: Both are referred to as 'Drilling' as well.
  9. I did already check out Unity. It looks very interesting, but i think i am still not good enough at C# to be able properly use an already existing engine. So far i have only programmed a ballistic calculator and i am currently trying to make a tiny 2D naval battle game. My expirience in programming can not even be measured in months yet. I like it though, it is probably the most creative hobby i have ever had.
  10. How did you fake insanity? What did the doctors say?
  11. I recently started to learn C# and i would be interested wich language BFC used to create one of my favorite computergame series.
  12. Artweaver is a free more-or-less photoshop clone. On machines where i dont have photoshop available i use it for creating 2D game graphics., it is quite good IMO.
  13. Wich is exactely one of the reasons why it is difficullt to objectively discuss historical events that arent more than 2 generations old. I wish you good luck as well, gunnergoz.
  14. Some time ago i tried to recreate parts of the battle of 73 Easting in CMSF but during testing the scenarios turned out to be just not enjoyable. The Iraqis just dont have even the slightest chance, they are steamrolled within a couple of turns.
  15. I served as conscript in Austrias armed forces in 08. After an extensive 3 week basic training that mostly focused on such militarily import and fascinating topics as polishing boots, polishing toilets, polishing flagpoles, polishing dishes, reciting service regulations, saluting and standing to attention, i transfered to a terribly understrengh platoon of the 2nd operation supply squadron where i put all the things i had learned to good use. The base that i and my ~16 comrades had to take care of was in the process of beeing abandoned and the site supposed to be sold on the private market soon. After 6 months of polishing things and watching tank wrecks rust in dirt, i was promoted to PFC, awarded a medal (no joke!) and honourably discharged. It was a truely motivating experience.
  16. Seriously, what do you do when you have to pee right in the middle of a battle?
  17. Haha, the story about the crawling Fallschirmjäger of doom kinda makes me smile .
  18. I ALWAYS try to locate the shooters position with sound if i cant spot him. Even if it means i ll have to watch the turn 5-6 times, it is just absolutely worth it. Most of times i get the shooters location accurate enough to take him out with area fire HE the next turn (well, if it is a soft target at least). Yeah, it is probably gamey, but i cant help myself, i feel like i have to get best the game engine allows me out of my troops.
  19. edit: didnt intend to post the same thing twice.
  20. Third option: the oficial behaviour of Russia and Germany as a collectives represented by their legislative, executive and judicative instances. For example Germany in 1935 passed a law that prohibited marriage between jews and aryans wich could now be discussed. Another, more war related, example would be the Commissar Order of 1941.
  21. I didnt say that future generations in general are to be improved but that one should (among other things) aim at improving their probabilty of survival compared to ones own and past generations probability of survival. There is your standard. IMO pain is a far too concrete and variable concept to be contained in the very definition of moral behaviour and innocence, by the way, is already implicitly inculded in my definition. What behaviour is morally right and wrong when pain is taken into account is to be derived from the definition on an as-need basis since there would IMO be no point in inculding it in the definition because first, not all beeings perceive pain in the same manner and second, not even all life on earth is capable of perceiving pain. Well, it may sound odd to you, but taking your example of beeing burnt alive, i would help you if you were litterally on fire, independend of our differences, how innocent you are or you would do the same thinhg for me. There are clear biological reasons for why humans are capable of empathy or sympathy (and thus 'giving a tinkers cuss', as you put it, about suffering they witness). How far those senses are developed in an individual may partially depend on the past experiences of the individual, the capability for empathy and sympathy though is determined by our genetical code wich is obiviously part of human biology. I am not going to respond to your inappropriate and and dull personal insults anymore, but, out of curiousity, what do you think was this thread initially about? And it is intersting too that you apparently exclude women from beeing capable of morale behaviour, btw.
  22. Looks like TacOps with better graphics to me...aweseome!
  23. Decals for ever! Remove them? Never!
