  1. The Humvee killing the BTR was quite lucky. 1 on 1 vs an APC is nothing you want to do when you are in a Humvee. It looks like things were going well for you during the last couple of turns. How much combat power do you think DMS has still left?
  2. Put an artillery barrage on the bridge using line/light/personell - this shold prevent c3k from moving his virtual alter ego on the bridge until time is up. Even if you cant take the bridge yourself it, he wont be able to do so either. Technically cou could use this tactic to enforce a draw.
  3. Casualty = incapacitated, which means heavily wounded or dead. Heavily wounded have a 25% chance of becoming "dead" at the end of the game if they dont receive buddy aid.
  4. Just accept the casualties and carry on. Bullets fly, men die. That is the way war works.
  5. Nothing wrong with a good old fulda-gap-style mechanized wave attack.
  6. You could hope that the next patch arrives in time: Or you could ask c3k if he is willing to delay the game, given that by saying that they will change the vulnerability of airborne-launched missiles to APS, BFC has practically admitted that the current way APS is depicted is considerd a bug.
  7. I mostly play vs. the AI. Campaigns and Scenarios are significantly more difficult and fun than QBs IMO. In QBs the AI occasionally does weird things. Most of the time the QB AI does OK, but sometimes it just really feels like something went wrong.
  8. Recently i had a T-90A (the one with the Shtora red eyes) fire an APFSDS round at a Bradley at super close range (accidential encounter in a forrest) and the projectile ricocheted (!) from the Bradleys frontal hull armor. I dont have a save, but next time something like that hgappens i ll provide one.
  9. Wow that looks good. A little bit too polished for a war zone, but otherwise great.
  10. I disagree. You mentioned F=m*a, implying that it would take significant amounts of energy to keep an APS' projectile on its course towards the incoming missile due to the aircrafts speed. But all mass is also prone to F=p'=mv', which means that unless an external force (like air resistance) is applied, the APS' projectile fired from an aircraft flying straight on the y-axis with speed s will continue to fly in y direction with speed s for eternity. Given that an APS projectile moves with speeds that are high compared to the relative speed of the warhead approaching the target and given that the distance the APS projectile has to travel on a ballistic flight path until it hits is target is small (a few meters), the effects of air resistance can be neglected, so the high speed of the aircraft and the incoming missiles are unlikely to be a problem for an APS system. That could be more of problem than high speeds. It would suck if the warhead is successfully intercepted but the aircraft is destroyed by the explosion of the APS, wouldnt it? But at least the enemy was denied the kill . Some helicopters like the M-24 Hind though are heavily armoured (bullet proof up to 12,7mm), so their airframe could possibly withstand the force of the APS going off. In general i lwas ess thinking of supersonic interceptors but of slow & low, armored CAS helicopters when i thought about putting APS on aircraft.
  11. I would never intentionally spoil an AAR. My statement was just about my general experience that a single 25mm HE burst is usually insufficient to wipe out a whole squad inside a building. I have learned from painful experience that it is better to make sure an enemy RPG team is dead before moving on. But i wont make any more comments on the tactical situation if you consider that a spoiler.
  12. Thankls for the tip with the tools IanL. Really? I cant imagine it to be that much of a problem. Just put them togather the way you would do with every campaign.
  13. We all love this game. After all, that is why we are registered on this forum.
  14. This question is not specifically about CMBS but more of a general question on APS systems. I mean, why not?
  15. Yeah, thermal sights make tanks extremely deadl. In my last game i had spotted a platoon of bradelys in a very thick, long treeline. I thought i would try to sneak up some RPGs through the woods on their flanks, but it didnt work out as expected. Most of them were spotted and killed and i had to send my BMP3s in to engage the the Bradleys at super close range.
  16. I think you are probably right, John. The Kh-25 has a warhead weighting between 90 and 140 kg, depending on the version. Even if it is prematurely detonated by the APS, the explosive force and the shrapnel could do some damage to the external systems of the target vehicle, like the external 50 cal on the Abrams or the perisciopes maybe. Of course we are assumeing that the warhead is not just destroyed but that all the explosives actually detonate. EDIT: Recently i had a helicoptrer engage an APS equipped Bradley 3 turns in a rown with ATGMs. All 3 missiles were destroyed, no damage to the vehicle. Just make 2 passes or dont fire the missile from maximum range.
  17. You can order an airstrike with 'light' ammo on the target and see if this does the job.
  18. Can we get some screenshots again, DMS?. Please . I would like one from high above the map so i can get an idea of the tactical situation.
  19. You should put some area fire into the building were the RPG team was. Just to make sure nobody survived to pick up that RPG again. Possibly there is someone giving buddy aid to the RPG gunner right now!
  20. Maybe general availability + the political will of the nations goverment to commit forces is factored in as well. Which, to use Risons words, means that while GI Joe may not be 75% more capable, Ivan maybe 75% easier to replace. Remember: Russia is using conscripts while the US are relying on volunteers. Probably Putin can also politically bear more dead soldiers than his US counterpart.
  21. Wrong forum. EDIT: Open a ticket at helpdesk. They usually reply pretty quickly. EDIT2: Helpdesk: http://battlefront.mojohelpdesk.com/
  22. Good question, i would like to know that too.
  23. I think there is a way to "decompile" campaigns (i conclude this from all the CMSF campaign missions beeing available as stand-alone scenarios at the Repository) but i dont know how it is done. Try opening the campaign files with a text editor (i recommend ultra edit 32 because it is an all in one Hex/text editor) and see if you find anything meaningful. Maybe you just need to do some copy+paste and it is done!
