  1. I’m the author of these. Thanks for the compliments! If you’re looking at these on a phone you will miss fine details. I’ve urged readers in the past to click the images for 2000px resolution to see small stuff not readily apparent otherwise. Just an FYI. Nice to see they are a big hit! If you’re looking for more, you can find them all on my Profile, at the bottom of the About Me section. Once Upon a Time on the Western Front is actually being published right now, with new additions daily.
  2. Oh, bloody hell, next you'll inform me how we live in an anarchosyndicalist commune!
  3. Tell her it’s necessary for the good of the realm.. Oh, good! I wanted to orient the reader without a thematic break in the story. Nice that it works. I’m so glad you noticed the little map.
  4. Thanks, Oliver! I hope the map was useful in orienting oneself. It’s not uncommon to see this happen amongst officers.
  5. Thanks, Heinrich! I’m glad that worked in the comic because each minute I was creeping around in those wood I was expecting to lose multiple guys...but it didn’t happen. Well, not until that sniper got lucky, anyway.
  6. It did. And yet, I could only afford to do this much effort at recon because the time for the battle was very generous. If it had been the more usual time allotted I’m not sure how I’d be able to compensate.
  7. Damn, I was really hopeful to see a kill with that AT Team!
  8. Pity you can’t get those StuGs while they outpace their infantry support.
  9. Funny you say that... Fully 1/3 of the game time elapsed without a shot fired. I spent a lot of time doing recon, trying to see his units and positions without revealing myself. I tend to be more...er... direct usually, but I was eager to put to practice all the things I’d read about scouting..
  10. A lot of normal activities were disrupted by the war. I’ve seen photos of fields that were clearly harvested, as you suggest, but that would not happen universally, as you also said. Where I think you may be mistaken is in assuming that crops would be laid flat by the elements. While this is not impossible, I can tell you that I see plenty of crops that for one reason or another are not harvested where I live, and they are dead and still standing after a severe winter the following year. It depends on the crop of course, but it’s certainly not been unusual to see fields that are still impenetrable months after frost killed them, at least from a LOS perspective.
  11. Very true. From individual screenshots to Heinrich’s impressive stories, kohl’s desert and winter mod, Bil’s Ui icon set, you name it. A lot of fine effort, something for every taste. Thank you!
