CMPzC Operation "Bloody Christmas" (Ortona '43)
kohlenklau replied to kohlenklau's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
I used a new dice roll chart and the first 6 of your bogged/immobilized tanks are retracted and can rejoin the next battle. After that, starting with the 7th bogged Sherman there is a 2 battle wait. For Brens/etc. one is awaiting 2 battles but the rest (up to 9) are ready for the next battle. Air availability die rolls.... You hit paydirt and for Turn 4 you have attack sorties! 5 purchased aircraft to divide over any battles for Turns 4A and 4B. -

Here is an up to date look at the overall operational picture: Note: San Donato axis forces seem to have some ATG's... Turn 3A is still in progress so the forces near San Leonardo may/will change hex at final completion of the turn. Up near San Donato we have A Coy of the Hasty P's with a troop from B Squadron /3RR attempting to lance the boil. mjkerner will defend as CO of a Fallschirmajer unit with ATG support. Chappy assumes role as CO of the Canucks. When the San Leonardo slugfest ends as well as the San Donato battle, we will be in turn 3B and see what the axis response is... -

Ok. You stepped up to be axis CO, so you are deserving. Good luck. I will prepare the battle. -

@Snols You must defend the hex that Marco was able to take control of...against an axis assault. Panthers, King Tigers and Infantry. Are you available? -

OK, the moves are made. Flak88's moved to support the engineers. Assault battle will be prepared for hex (4,6). Who is your battle commander? -

Hi Mirek, OK, at work now. But tonight I will playtest to attempt to get your desired movements and assault. Assault forces move to hex (3,6) and then attack into (4,6). Do you want the Flak88 to move from hex (3,4) into (4,3)? I think it will work...if not I will send you a PM. A suggestion. Use one color for movements. Use a different color for assaults. Use another different color to show the artillery will support that hex. You are having the 3 Wespe 105mm self-propelleds support the engineer unit if attacked or what? Oh, here is the hex numbering key. Use top edge number then side edge number. (top, side) like (x,y). For example: Nyiregyhaza is (5,0). -

I like how you teamed up with those half-tracks! -
No snow camo aircraft? Like a JU-52 like below from the web... Do you ever do diorama's or just the kit by itself? My aircraft modelling career was quickly curtailed by my son at age 1 wiping out my Soviet Mi-24 Hind! Sorry to derail the thread a bit. Over and out!
-
I hope to get back into some vehicle modding when Bulge arrives. I look forward to seeing what you will do. IIRC You are/were a modeler, right? Do you have any photos of a plastic model you have done in snow camo you can share?
-
I am not sure but have you done any snow camouflage vehicles yet?

Mirek! I think I should fly out there for a few days first and visit you in Poland. We have a lot to go over with how the orders process works. ..and maybe you can introduce me to a pretty cousin.... -

Yes, that is correct. Outside SUZ means you cannot change their location. -

mirek! Do you want to step up to be the Axis CO? It is not too hard a job. But you must be able to do some software editor images with arrows to show your movement selections... -

Frank! ANOTHER trip to Italy? Smuggling in olive oil? Keep up the great AAR posts. Love 'em! -
I know exactly what you mean and loved the same thing in CMX1. With respect to reinforcements like we liked to arrange, CMX2 is different and not as good in my opinion. You only have 7 Reinforcement groups. There is only an earliest arrival time in blocks of 5 minutes of elapsed battle time, T=5,10,15,etc and a window of variation after that by similar 5 minute bands. Get it? No more percentage chance of arrival! So, I assume it is a coin toss 50/50 for each minute until the reinforcement arrives. Sure, you can do some fun things but not so much that cool mystery we enjoyed for CMX1. Some mystery can be there but not the same as CMX1. But please buy CMRT as these games are very enjoyable!
