  1. Ok some questions regarding Self Propelled AA's. The following are some things that i hope will be covered by BF staff sometime before release of the Gustav Line Module. I'm going to use the American M16 GMC as an example here, other AA platforms i do not wish in anyway to degrade or complain about. The M16 is just the best that comes to mind for these potential circumstances. So if the M16 is in battle and the quad .50 gunner gets wounded or killed by enemy fire, will other crew members take over the gunner position like tank crews do? Can Infantry enter the M16 and use the quad .50 mount? (like they can on a regular halftrack) Now back to my earlier post about the quad .50 and it's rate of fire/type of fire. Im thinking of this in a QB setup, say i want to purchase an M16 for my QB. Now im guessing it'll cost more to purchase the M16 compared to the price of purchasing four individual M2 HMG crews. Now if the M16 GMC is shooting its quad .50 in slow meticulous well aimed bursts, that's great! However that quad. 50 & M16 GMC could be knocked out in one or two hits, to the gunner, halftrack knocked out ect. thus I've lost all four of them 50cals. Now instead of purchasing the M16, what if i would of bought four individual M2 HMG's? I could keep them spread out, but yet close enough together so they could fire at the same target. Now if they come under fire & i lose one or two gunners or one or two whole guns, i still have the other M2 HMG's in play to help in the battle. So why would it better or justifiably to buy one 16 GMC compared to the four individual M2 HMG? I'm guess the M16 has more overall ammo storage, but if it takes a few hits, wham all four guns are potentially knocked out of the battle. So if the M16 isn't bringing any higher rates of fire/longer continuous burst of fire to the battle, whats the advantage of buying one M16 compared to four individual M2'S. Now granted the M16 you could move around the battlefield faster than those poor Joe's lugging a Ma Duce over their should, but yet you could tell them to get in a jeep to move about the battlefield. Like I've previously mentioned the M16 probably carries a lot more .50 cal ammo. (which can ground troop embark an M16 to pick up .50 cal ammo?) Anywho I got to cut this short but I hope to get these questions concerns answered. Thanks for any input.
  2. bump Also sorry guys about the double post, i was posting that reply via my Android smartphone and well.....it was being much smarter than me:rolleyes:
  3. Ok so with the addition of AA guns, what are we going to see in terms of rate of fire or type of fire for these gun? Full auto continuous fire( for several seconds) or burst fire (for 1-3 seconds)? Take the M16 GMC for instance, are those quad .50's going to shoot the same type of burst fire we see already in game with the ground deployed M2 HMG? Or since the M16 is an AA weapon is it going to be able to open up with all four guns simultaneously for 5-10 (or longer) seconds of continuous fire, thus putting a massive amount/volume of fire on target? Just thought id see what kind of firepower were talking about here. Cuz prolonged full auto fire from a quad .50 would be pretty awesome to see & devastating to use!

  5. Hello, & welcome to the CMBN forum. Well I'll just say this, it's not very likely you'll get any info on the specs of upcoming BF games & modules, let alone details on units & equitment within those products. BF makes outstanding games. Nobody else come close, but yet they run a tight ship, mum is the word. So needless to say you are just another person, among many many others, that are waiting for the next bit of news from BF. However it is ALWAYS worth the wait. Dont let any of this stop you from posting on the forum though. This is a really really good forum full of all kinds of information, helpful people, and good lively debat & discussion.
  6. So I've become lost in the melee, but what is the difference between a "Pack" & a "Module"? I remember seeing something regarding Packs but i cant remember where on the forums. Also have packs been fully defined by BF as of yet? Anyway thanks:cool:
  7. 27 Here, I found CMBO back in 2004 while i was just starting college, needless to say i spent many a night playing CM instead of studying. Since then i have picked up every other CM title, except CM Touch. I have enjoyed them all, & cant wait for whats down the line yet to be released.
  8. Oh the joys of a desperate army trying to muster men/units to fight a lost cause! And to think those poor poor administrative personal who thought they had a cushy rear area assignment, far far from the front lines.
  9. Ok nice way to sneak that in thier Steve, MG untis!!!! First, im diging into the bookself to read up on German naval ground units, dont know much about them, thus I have to give myself a history leason. Anywho thanks for the info Steve!
  10. Bump.... Thought i might get some X-mas magic or wish & get a MG update? Hey I may be a little old for X-mas wishes, but why not:rolleyes: Happy Holiday's BF & CMBN community:)
  11. So here's my moment, Fighting in thick bocage, thus I'm sending two engineers squads around the right flank blasting holes for pathways. First squad gets chewed up bad, they become my ad hoc scouts, & they payed heavy in blood for it. (not my best battle plan). The second squad fairs better & goes about my plan. Then about 35min into this action my First squad has two guys left, second squad has 7 guys, HQ squad is down to just the commander. Now my 9 engineers left are almost done with their flanking/blasting mission, on the second to the last row of bocage my guys approach, spot & don't see any enemy troops. So i order them to blast through, which they do, as soon as they breach through they spot an MG ammo bearing team, a Mortar ammo team, and a scout team. (all to my surprise!!) Now a fierce short fire fight erupts, 10-12 Germans vs 9 GI's. Two of my GI's get KIA, the other 7 all fall to their knees & surrender!!!! Now the amazing part, my sole HQ squad man left, the officer, is about a 100 yards behind all this action. So for some reason i order him up to the bocage where my 7 guys just surrendered. He runs up to the edge of the bocage amongst the surrendered GI's & spots the German scout team opposite the hedgerow about 20-25 yards away & opens fire with his Carbine, killing one German. He then hurls a grenade over which suppresses the other 10 or so Germans. Now my officer (named Callahan) I wonder if he's Dirty Harry's dad???) shoots his last five rounds of M1 Carbine ammo, now he's empty, no ammo at all. Just then the 7 surrendered GI's around him start grabbing their rifles back and pouring lead & grenades into the remaining Germans!!! All Germans opposite the bocage are now dead or wounded!!! I did not know your troops could become unsurrendered. The 7 of them were back in the fight!!! How cool is that? Also is that new in 2.0? Needless to say i want Callahan put in for a medal! Now my 7 guys finish their bocage busting mission. in the last five minutes of the battle they flank remnants of a German rifle squad in thick wood, & because their out of grenades and well maybe because their really really pissed off by now hurl two of thier remaining four demo charges at the Germans, BOOM!!! four dead Germans, all this at a range of 20 yards or less. So that my moment:cool:
  12. Ah very good point Michael, i guess i dont realize how small BF manpower size capabilities are. Thus i respectively withdraw my previous request
  13. Hello Battlefront, Well we got the patch & the upgrade. Thanks for those upgrades!!!!! Can we (the community of players) ask for a general information update on the progress of the Market Garden Module? No release dates, or full features list, just a general news output. Also me myself( dont know if others will) but if your not in a position to release details of the Market Garden Module, i would find it rather interesting if you could release a developers diary post instead. Something like your work & experience of building the 2.0 upgrade for CMBN. Was thier one part of the code that just keep causing u headaches until u finally got it to work. Did someone while working one day spill coffee on thier computer thus causing fearf that you'd lost a part of the days work. Just some info on how & what it takes to bring CM software to life. Well thanks again BF for all that you've given us & for all the stuff in development.
  14. Hi Steve, Thanks for all your hard work, that goes to everyone at BF!!!! Any chance we can get an update on the 3rd Module Market Garden? Thanks again!!!!!!
  15. I've been thinking but can't really think of any new small arms (other than the German FG 42) that would be in the OMG module. Can anyone else think of any new small arms that might be included? However, i can think of one that could be included but don't know how it'd work in terms of adding it into the game due to programing....that'd be the 1897 trench gun, or any other US military shotgun. I mean hey with 2.0 engine update we got canister rounds, so maybe shotguns could be included! albeit in a very limited quantity. Just imagine house to house fighting with one guy in your squad carrying a trench gun! (plus i know trench guns were far less common in the ETO than the PTO) Now here's a guess, on variants we might see of small arms US small arms: M1C sniper rifle M2 Carbine (maybe to early for OMG module) M3 Sub machine gun (chambered in 9mm)
  16. Theirs an old saying, by who i don't recall, about arty that i believe dates back to Napoleons era or the U.S. Civil War. (correct me if I'm wrong please) It goes something like, "artillery is queen of the battlefield". Also & I'll try to find sources on this, but i believe that artillery fire was the number one cause of casualties in all armies, amongst the foot soldiers in WWI, WWII, & Korea. I'll try and confirm that with sources here over the next few days.
  17. ok Im going to ask in this thread, hope it fits in here, So i noticed something new in the UI (i think thats part of it) where it lists all the troops in your squad in the bottom left of the screen. The part that defines what each soldier is doing/thier behaviour...aiming,reloading,cowering, ect.... Well i never seen this before in CMBN but i have seen a flash of what i think is a new behaviour. Ive seen the commanders & squad leaders with "planning" as thier task at hand. It only flashes through for a sec then goes back to aiming, cowering, or ect... So is the "planning" task/behaviour new to CMFI? Thanks
  18. Also i find it odd, both these formats (the book & John's online links) are missing the Thompson SMG....interesting omission?
  19. Um I dont know about anyone else, but i already have all this information in the book. "The American Arsenal" ISBN 1-85367-470-2. I'm guessing the folks at BFC have this book & or many others that are even better. Nonetheless thanks for posting this info for those who may not have access.
  20. Haha Oh thats funny, that coming from the guy who has over 18,000 post on Battlefront Forum.
  21. Im from Custer County born and raised thier, both Custer & Blaine Counties have some beatuiful wilderness, and it was all in my back yard so to speak. Now i live in the southern part of the state, working as a welder.
  22. So to whomever at BF, Where are you guys located, as in time zone? Or town, just curious? (even though i dont blame you for not answering that one cuz you may not want a mob on your hands demanding an announcement:p ) Im not trying to pry news info out of you, im just trying to get an idea on what time of day you guys usually release news info? Do you have a specific time of day for press releases? Do you announce news after staff meetings or office meetings? or do you just annouce news whenever it becomes ready? I live in Idaho so it seems that most of your news post on your website usually are mid to late afternoon here. So i was just kinda hoping for a general time frame of your day at work, and really im kind of interested on what/how your company/studio/office/building runs behind closed doors. Could we get a behind the scences/games sneak peak of your guys day at work. Thought that might be fun for some of us to see. Thanks:D
