  1. Good to point out @MOS:96B2P. That game feature might feel, well, gamey but on the other hand since it hurts people who engage in gamey "tank crews take up arms and fight" type actions then I'm all for it
  2. Shift position I have not seen. I have seen some disappearing but have not yet been able to create a reproducible test case. I suppose I should just do some road driving and save every bloody turn until I hit one.
  3. I'm not @Pete Wenman and certainly do not have his experience but I'll give you my take... I do in fact have a sheet of paper next to me when doing scenario design work. I use the table that @JonS included in his scenario design pdf that ships with games now. Originally from here: Honestly I do not see them doing the work to allow custom naming of groups. I see what you mean, but to support that they have to add a bunch of UI elements and it effects the layout of other UI elements. I strongly suspect that they would prioritize other enhancements above this - and frankly I would want them to. I do try to put them in separate groups. That way once the AI controlled IFVs drop the infantry off, their plan can be more flexible than allow them to move some distance behind the infantry. You should note that none of my scenarios, so far, have been very big so I am not sure how practical this would be for a larger formation. No neither choice will affect the AI negatively as far as I can see. No and therefore yes, you would have to have separate groups to force the separation you are looking for.
  4. Correct No way to control it - only influence. There does not seem to be a pattern. +1
  5. Ah, I'm not sure if you misspoke there or not. It is entirely appropriate for a team that is taking fire to become pinned and for another team near by that is not taking fire to be unaffected. The game does model this. The same holds whether or not the teams are split or combined into a squad. If the unit is combined into a squad you might not be able to tell this is happening since the combined suppression meter will not be pinned since half the squad is not feeling any suppression effects. But that does not change the fact that each solider has their suppression level tracked. Rattled is a morale state and when one team in a squad is taking causalities and lots of fire the morale of other teams and even other squads in the platoon can be affected. This is separate from suppression. To cause suppression the solider has to be hearing / feeling the bullets, shrapnel and blast personally. To cause morale to deteriorate can also happen by seeing what is happening to a soldier's buddies. Other way around some cohesion is lost by splitting. I believe this is stronger for some nationalities than others to discourage is from gamey activities using formations that would not have operated on their own.
  6. The Blitz is running two scenarios this month. Sign up for the May scenario of the Month has started over at the Blitz. This month the scenarios are: CMRT: Eye of the Needle CMBS: Rollin' on the River The form post on theBlitz for sign up.

  8. If you have a save file where the tank is stuck during the replay stage then it would be worth sharing. Or even better if you have a save during the command phase that results in the tank becoming stuck that would be great.
  9. Ah well, I'm not bothered in the slightest. Not offended before or now. I have no idea why calling you on being unreasonable would be considered unprofessional. Actually I read back further it was someone else compared you to someone rude who used to be a member here - I'm the one that said you could not be that person. All I did was say your expectations were out of step with reality. I'm afraid I do not understand why you are so upset by my comments nor how you interpreted them as my being upset by your comments. but also not really caring much about it either
  10. I feel like recovery from Tired to Ready is less than two minutes. Fatigued and exhausted should take longer to recover from - IMHO. Honestly my rule of thumb for handling infantry is when they are tiring see if there is a convenient place for them to rest a bit but keep going if not. Tired: start planning to give them a rest and avoid pressing too much unless their safety is threatened. Fatigued: no more movement except to nearest cover and even that should have been covered by SOP for Tired. Exhausted: I have utterly failed them and they stop right there.
  11. Well that aligns with what @ASL Veteran said pretty much spot on. I do tend to agree with @ASL Veteran that the player should have to figure out that withdrawal is a viable and perhaps necessary action. Having said that, given how few of us are any good at fighting a withdrawal action, perhaps a few scenarios that are explicitly about that would be helpful. Yes, it would take away some of the mystery but it would let people like @TheVulture choose to play that way and give everyone else some experience at that kind of fight so that next time they face that kind of scenario when they are surprised they have a fighting chance to actually do OK at it. There ya go scenario designers: sounds like a challenge - looks at self "ahhh, maybe"
  12. @Michael Emrys is correct you cannot specify wind conditions. I played around with this this morning. It is random and seems to be tied to ground conditions in some way. Now I only started 10 QB battles 5 with light snow and 5 with damp ground conditions so this is orders of magnitude short of the testing required to say definitively. So keep that in mind. Here are the results form my runs: Weather Temperature Ground Condition Wind Clear Cold Light snow Heavy from N Clear Freezing Light snow Medium from NW Clear Freezing Light snow None from SW Clear Freezing Light snow Medium from NW Clear Freezing Light snow Light from S Clear Freezing Damp Gentle from SE Clear Freezing Damp Gentle from E Clear Freezing Damp Medium from SE Clear Freezing Damp Light from NW Clear Freezing Damp Medium from SE You can specify the weather and the ground conditions but the Temperature and the Wind are then randomly set - probably also tied into the date but I did not even touch that.
  13. LOL out of the frying pan and into the fire eh? Yeah, sometimes you just have to sigh and move on.
  14. Yes, that's a good point to. Sometimes the best chance for them to resolve their own issues is to remove all orders and give them a simple move forward to the other side and it that fails a single reverse back order. PM sent to coordinate saves...
  15. Bridges are a pain sometimes. There have been may glitches and many fixes. As they come up they get fixed. Do you have a saved game file you could share? Also what version of the game are you playing? Once you are in that state there is nothing you can do that I am aware of - sometimes the vehicle will sort itself out other times not. There is a way to deal with bridges that is recommended: place one way point on land at one end of the bridge and another on land at the other end of the bridge. Do not plan to stop on the bridge. Make sure there is lost of space between vehicles crossing the bridge - avoid bunching up on the bridge. Doing that is not a guarantee for having a problem free bridge experience but it will help.
  16. Nice pictures. Those are my burning tanks. I did go across country to get to the side road into the town. While I did not loose any tanks to full immobilization they bogged frequently. After crossing that field I tried to stay on the road after that. Not that it helped any. Getting that Panther from behind was sweet but I lost a lot more tanks the @Bud Backer did (including the one that bagged that Panther - about 15s afterwards too IIRC).
  17. This looks great. Nicely done! Once you are happy with them will you upload them to the mod site: http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/
  18. Actually many of those are nice but only Vins animated text is truly must have
  19. ^^^ yep, that's exactly how I'd like to use such a feature.
  20. Yes, the paste values was the ticket. Face palm of my own since I am not really an Excel novice - though clearly not as well versed as you. After doing that things went more smoothly. But not perfect... In the instructions you say: "I’m a loyal customer! How do I copy over data from a previous version? 1. Open a copy of both the old version (with existing game results) and the blank new version in Microsoft Excel. 2. On the older version with your existing data, click and drag to select all the rows holding your recorded games until ‘Column Z’ (Allied Other Vehicles Destroyed)." Step 2 goes to far and would stomp on some of those italic columns. You can go as far as Column V "Allied MIA" in one pass and then do the other green section and the two red sections each separately. It also did not help my "Casualties Caused by Country" graph. The top two are dataless while the bottom two have data: I PM'ed you a link to my excel file so you can have a look if you like.
  21. ^^^^ yes this. If you have any trouble signing up as an author let me know I have been through the process.
  22. Giiven BFC's track record, I think you can expect any future national units will have their own icons.
