Can't wait for this view to be in CMBS, Kherson campaign. Sometime in 2023 I hope. Can switch out the YPRs for BMPs if necessary.

It seems that any country that hopes to fight this kind of war needs to address at its heart one major issue. Having an infantry force capable of performing on this battlefield. Conscripts don't cut it. A professional highly skilled force is absolutely necessary. While the actual battlefield weapons like AT and AA can be made to be user friendly till it is almost point and shoot, the coordination and utilization of high tech capabilities independently on the battlefield means having to really focus on that NCO corp and having an infantry force that is trained to a level to be useful. I think this is another area Ukraine has a major advantage. Its infantry is highly motivated and frankly overall better educated than the enemy they are facing and have been able to adapt and learn with a developing NCO force that facilitates that process. Russia might get some of these toys onto the battlefield, but its force structure denies them the ability to truly master the capabilities they provide. Russian society isn't geared for people to think for themselves. That is going to be a prerequisite for a soldier to be successful in this space.

You laugh now but Sims 3 is an officially Nazi approved concentration camp simulator. You put those little russian speaking people (what did you think that gibberish they speak was anyway, lol) into a house... and then you wall them in - without food or the toilet. And then you watch them suffer, as they die praying to St. Stalin, while their parents get a free russian car.

It does not really matter what they have to say now. Their reputation as a human rights organization is shattered now that they are blaming the victim for defending themselves.
All the kings horses and all the kings men won't be able to put Amnesty International's reputation together again.

I checked out joining the International Legion when it was first was announced but at age 65 and 25 years out of the military, naturally it was a polite 'no'. Too old, not current or recent military and my medical history was a guaranteed 'no' but I tried.
So I did the next best thing. I had a $1500 DJI drone. I sent it to Ukraine as a donation in my stead. If I can't do my part, at least my drone can. I wonder at times every time there is a Ukrainian drone video, if it is my bird. That helps me get through all of this.

Boche reacted to Erwin in What combat mission game is the best for someone who has never played a combat mission before.
While others have mentioned the WW2 games, a beginner may consider CMSF. The challenge for new players with the WW2 games is that mistakes are costly and one can lose (and possibly get depressed) and have to restart the game very easily after committing only one or two errors.
When playing CMSF Blue vs Red (Syrians) one nearly always has massive fire superiority and the main challenge is to win with minimal or no casualties. It may still be hard to win given those victory parameters, but at least the Blue players generally takes few casualties and always has a lot of units left to overcome errors and still learn tactics... and have a good time.

Thanks! I'm slowly getting back into things. From what I've done thus far, I had to pause due to the number of TO&E substitutions I had to make in order to get the Tigers to perform somewhat like their rl counterparts. The biggest issue were the off map support assets and C2. Drove me bonkers. Once I can figure that part out, we're golden.

Hello again everyone. RL took me away from gaming for awhile, but I'm back onshore now and getting the rusted old machine oiled up and dusted off. First step is to recover as much of my work as I can and then go from there. Getting back into the rhythm of life, yes?😑

Boche reacted to MrTimn in Fording the Siverskyi Donets
My second map project in CM, with maybe a scenario to follow. I wanted to explore the failed Russian river crossing near Bilohorivka and ended up creating this map based on satellite imagery and the various images and videos of that event.
Currently just quick battle maps with no AI plan, so HTH only. I'll try to update this with AI plans when I get a chance.

One of the most important observations of an NCO or Staff NCO has to be that complaining and grumbling are normal for any “good order” units. What you look for and pay attention to is when they stop complaining. That means that they’ve given up any hope of anything being changed. That’s when there’s trouble brewing and you have to correct the root causes.

ah, was a Spanish Instalaza that did it. Good to see Spain's aid making a difference.
