Anyone dare to take an armoured column down the dried up riverbed? ; ) The majority of the forces are done, and i've already done 1 red AI plan, I intend to do 2 or 3 more I'm thinking a 3 hour time limit, heavy restrictions on blue casualties and really limited lines of approach The map itself still needs a lot of detail adding, gotta fill it up with flavour objects and a few little errors still in there. Also the reason why all that blank space is still there is that it takes my computer about 2-3 minutes to delete one block of map space : (
  2. Here's my latest creation. This map started out as a scenario, then I expanded it to what it is with plans to fill in the whole other half of the map over the other side of the river to make a master campaign map. The map was too ambitious really, it takes 5 minutes or so to load even when half the map is blank. So i've decided to cut it down and make a still rather large scen. Forces are a british armoured ~CO Sized force vs a batt sized red force If anyone has played the scenario Into The Green Zone which this map started off at you'll see the main difference is that i've made the trenches have a ground tile of marsh, as such only the infantry can cross them, I have added single tile crossing points at key locations. Expect a lot of IEDs, although i intend for it to be possible to complete the mission without detonating a single one and that's without knowing where they are I've also added some extra compounds The town which is flanked by a forest which will be good for hiding lots of nasty things inside

  4. Yeah no fog on vista/7 with nvidia cards. However i think CMx1 and CMx2 use totally different graphics implementations (Direct3D and OpenGL if i'm correct) so shouldn't be a problem in CMBN
  5. Yeah it takes engineers a little while to ready the charge. Having low suppression and good combat and morale modifiers with their HQ helps a lot
  6. I would guess yes. Mine detecting takes a long time, probably out of the scope of a CM battle to do it
  7. As someone who is in the TCP/IP WEGO Crowd I think that's a little unfair, that comment suggests they had this feature in CMx2 and took it out out of spite, they never deliberately downgraded anything, just chose never to redo a feature that was in a totally different game
  8. I actually did a test in CMSF, a fuchs driver would not pick up the squads MG3 LMG so if it hasn't been changed he wouldn't be able to pick up either although the fuchs driver did have an UGL on his rifle, so perhaps the game logic saw that as the better weapon?

Very true, but as far as I could see from the DAR those weren't the only 2 options to the troops who threw their hands up in the DAR, or from what I could tell (I'm mainly thinking of the troops in the woods who just needed to retreat a few action spots to be out of the fire) Although of course as I wasn't actually playing the game I could be totally wrong, perhaps elvis could enlighten me?

  11. Fantastic, it's like being back in CMx1 : ) Do we only get the kill stats at the end of the game then, in CMx1 we could get confirmed kills mid game, not that i ever used that feature too much, just curious
  12. So where does it show how many men surrendered? Is it the men missing section and surrendering has replaced routing or has it just not made it onto the AAR screen yet?
  13. Ok so I'm using Veins excellent fire/explosions/muzzle flash mod in CMSF, will i be able to transfer this straight over into CMBN or will I have to wait for him to rework it? I understand most CMSF mods will be totally incompatible (for obvious reasons) but will these effects stay the same?
  14. But then again how much higher were the friendly casualty rates in these wars? It seems to me that the brits have been trading FP for friendly casualties
  15. Do we get to see the new unit kill stats? Also, may just be me but does the amount of surrendering american troops seem to be quite high? By the looks of it they weren't cut off and were on the attack, seems like they should have run away rather than surrendered
  16. I think the Cmx1 to CMx2 sniper comparison is a bit unfair at the moment for a few reasons. 1. In CMx1 they were one man teams, one man is a lot harder to spot than 2 or 3 2. Snipers had a massive concealment bonus in CMx1, probably too much so as you could walk your troops into the same foxhole as them and not spot them 3. The terrain in CMx1 offered a lot lot more cover and concealment that the desert (except CMAK of course) in CMx2 I think once CMBN comes out we can make a bit more of a fairer comparison
  17. It's really quite annoying, the flight path on the gill seems really low, shouldn't this be a top attack weapon or is that only the super upgraded version that has a camera with the abilities to switch targets mid flight?
  18. Im halfway through over the hill, first time i've played with the dutch since 1.31 and so far i've fired 10-15 gills and not one has hit its target yet. I know some people had problems with the gill in 1.30 but it seemed to be similar to the jav in terms of performance, have I just got really unlucky or has anyone else noticed this?
  19. I don't think that's finished yet, hence why they've been cut out of the DARs
  20. Well we could use zooks/shrecks vs any unit in CMx1 (usually with 0 effect tho lol), and we can use AT weapons against any targets in CMSF so simple logic would imply it's in
