  1. I do not think anyone is questionning or complaining about those factors. Maybe it has not been put clearly enough but what is clear to me is that whatever the armour accuracy model built into CM:BN is it appears overall (to some of us at least) to be much more efficient than what CMx1 yielded. As mentioned, we probably do not have enough of a trend to warrant a full on revision or trigger any alarms just yet. It may very well be that it was the old model which was dragging down accuracy...
  2. +1 Steve comments refer to under 400m. But here I also had the same experience in the same scenario as some of you. Those Panthers are hitting everything with the 1st shot. In my particular case it was shermans on the move and over 800m away. 2 shots, 2 kills. For me it may be a bit early to conclude anything but seen that a few others are having the same issue it may at least warrant a bit more of testing.
  3. Weather the mortars effectiveness and accuracy in CM:BN is accurately modelled or not I guess it is still open to debate. What is clear to me is that in CMx1 they were neither as deadly nor as accurate as they seem to be now. In CMx1 a single 81mm was never going to decimate a few squads, nevermind 60 or smaller, they were strictly used to counter guns or pop smoke. IMH experience even 81mm was never going to be decisive against infantry (unless 4 tubes or more), some casualties, yes, but more for suppression effect than actual dammage. Do not know which of the two models is the right one but they behave indeed very very differently. My personal impressions extend to all HE ammunition actually. It just seems to me in general much much deadly than in CMx1.
  4. Hmmm, maybe thats the thing, for pbem you do not save, you end your turn with the red button, no? I have already a pbem underway and no problem so far after 12 turns.
  5. Yeah, in my case the infantry placement in the 8x8 thingie is not that much of an issue. It is the precise positioning of AT guns and HMG that is a bit of a problem.
  6. Id agree also with Claymore, although for me the main issue affects AT guns and MG placement. I can live with the way infantry is treated. If there was a way to place those guns to an exact point much as you can do with vehicles that would be a perfect solution.
  7. Lol, I presume it also has to do with victory points, no?
  8. 1st impressions can not be better. One small detail that got my attention was the pressence of medics! At some point during my attack in the Training scenario, I noticed 2 soldiers attending two casualties nearby. The green text status log on the left stated "Medic". I do not know if that was a feature already in SF but it is indeed cool in CMBN. I could not later confirm if the 2 casualties returned to duty or not though as I was busy hunting a bloody PAK. What I did also not realize during the game was if the soldiers with "medic" abilities are easily identifiable and specific (i.e. if they die no more medic) or if it is just something inherent to each squad irrespective. Probably got to RTFM.
  9. Thanks a lot for this. Will be also seeding whenever I get it.
  10. As a pre order purchase or after release? If pre order, before or after VAT? In any event the answer is no, but nice try! Note to self: got to find out how to be able to win the ROW tournament without a copy so I can get one after I win. Hmmm.
  11. Ok. I think I am good now for my session (a la Clockwork Orange). Ready when you are.
  12. Well... truth be told, I was a Troll with a purpose... one that should have united us all (extract info on release date etc), ahem. What was that about POW´s now? Not that we are prisoners of BFC at all (I think) but... well, same thing. What I was not counting with was such degree of organized Collaborationism... fanboys!
  13. Nah, not really. Just saw a glimpse of an opportunity to extract some info re release date and took it. Maybe not in style, but hey.
  14. Argh! Come on, I was just trying my damnest best to get actual info on release date and look wht I got into! Ok ok, I deserve it...
  15. Well, with all due respect, I hope you do not second guess or decide how I need to lead my life and when and how I go about my chores, including this one. If it was that easy to collect that information and clear cut, you could have collected it yourself before pre order launch. Alas, in your note you mention how difficult and unpredictable these things are and I agree. I will have collected and confirmed that information when I ll collect and confirm it, and not a single minute earlier. You guys have made a mistake in communication for which we are now in a rush to do something we could have done with no rush weeks ago. I would therefore also expect that your welcome cancellation offer has a clear limit in time as it should, otherwise and if I learn about shipping before I can decide on this you will have a very unhappy customer.
  16. I was not blessed with a response on this from BFC in the original Shipping Preorder thread so I thought to copy/paste the question to its own thread instead:
  17. Ok. So now I have the option to cancel my pre-order. Great. But BFC has not stated how long we have to decide and do that. It may take us sometime to accurately find out what (if any) extra charges we will be subject to. Can we reserve the "right" to take such decission up and until the time of actual shipping? Will we be notified prior to that shipping date so we can exercise the cancellation option? Otherwise is BFC going to state any deadline for this cancellation policy? It´s just that I would not like to be notified the product has shipped before I know how much additional I have to pay and can therefore take an informed decission.
  18. Another question for Steve, Does the Pre-Order price (excluding shipping) includes the equivalent to the European VTA in the US (I guess each state may be different?)? And if it does, how much is it?
  19. Well, several ways. One of the usual ones is that the carrier pays upfront the local authorities and then they invoice you for any additional fees (usually the VAT difference or equivalent). I ve received many such invoices from the likes of UPS or similar for goods delivered from the US here in Denmark for example. You can elect not to pay or "forget" but then you may be added to a black list, incur additional late payment charges etc. Another method is that the package is delivered to your local post system who retains the package, notifies you of same and you need then to pay up when collecting. I presume that a quick enquiry from BFC to its selected carrier for this delivery should easily clarify things. These carriers (if private) should know this stuff well as it is a critical issue for their cashflow.
  20. Nokturnal, Do you just enjoy being confrontational and a pinch obnoxious or is it that you just have a wee too much time to kill before release. Maybe you just have the irresistible urge to say the last word? Accept other people will disagree with your view and move on. I d dare to say that 3 ripostes that long should surely be enough for you to make your point no? Geez, stop it.
  21. Firefly is one of the best shows you can treat yourself with if you have not done it yet. Totally worth it.
  22. OP is from Southern Illinois though, hence my remark. Which happens to be a very very very broad generalisation. Also, OP is talking about having his grandson PLAYING the game, not just being in the house while you play as you state. Very different situation with regards to the "blowing to pieces" part. You are only honestly concerned about foul language because you will be doing the killing, not your children. In any event everyone knows aussies are also just cowboys only with sheep and kangaroos.
  23. Indeed. I think this is one of those European vs American mentality divide thingies. They can carry guns, it is a basic right, while we, for the most part, can´t. Not that this explains anything but I think it is somewhat linked to the referred behaviour.
