  1. The biggest problem with the 30 minute editing period is its effect on user made FAQs. A good example of this is Winecap's? Normandy FAQ. After the first post it would eventually require the reader to scroll multiple pages to find information.
  2. Combatintman, Vietnam may have been asymmetrical in the larger strategic picture. But, I would imagine it would at least have the illusion of symmetrical forces in CM's scope.
  3. BRO,JD, that other game wouldn't happen to be Hearts of Iron 3, would it?
  4. I have a question about modules. Will we ever see, I hate always using this as an example, Company of Heroes style interplayability between different module owners. For example, if I am playing a multiplayer game I can use all the units that I have "unlocked" by purchasing the module. Even if my opponent does not own the module that corresponds with the formation I use? So like me being able to use Marines in a PBEM even if my opponent only has the CMSF base game.
  5. Part of the reason people buy in to the German superiority bit is simply because of their experiences. Unless you are really interested in World War 2 strategy, and possibly a bit of economics you wont know how bad the Germans were, at the strategic and economic level. But, what most people do know is at the tactical level, and even then it is usually hollywood's version. They don't realize the logistical problems that arise when you start using heavy tanks like Tigers, but they do realize the tactical impact of a Tiger coming out to play. This is what people visualize when they think WW2 era German Army. http://www.oliversart.co.uk/acatalog/images/jpgs-lrg/Nicolas_Trudgian_aviation_art/0136_Tigers_in_Normandy.jpg Notice the Tigers triumphantly rolling past several destroyed, and burning, Shermans.
  6. I find dismounting infantry and having them clear the approaches works best. I usually set up a time table like system for the advance. for example, I'll give 1st platoon 15 minutes to make it from point A to B when time gets short I speed up the advance a little.
  7. Moon, will CM:A then be patched concurrently with CM:SF? Or will they have their own patching system?
  8. zmoney, you can enter the editor and extend the campaign time for each map, if I'm not mistaken.
  9. Original thread http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=88371
  10. I think its to sight the main gun. Like how the SMAW has the rifle attached to it. This way the gunner can make sure the main gun will be on target.
  11. With all this talk of destroyed armor I was wondering. Do destroyed vehicles provide cover for vehicles? I distinctly remember someone mentioning they did not, but I have never found myself in a situation where I would want to test it. ASL Veteran/Steve I would think that the addition of even a simple co-play feature, such as splitting of the force along platoon or company lines, would increase the accessibility of the game immensely. Just as the ability for co-play in John Madden Football, and Halo allows even a novice player to join in the fun. And, more importantly, learn the ropes of the game. Admittedly the comparison does fall short. Whereas any friend may be willing to join you in a game of virtual co-op football. Only a person with at least a passing interest in tactical combat, or a dedicated gamer, would join you for a game of CM:SF.
  12. If the BMP was closer than the arming range of the missile would they even fire?
  13. JonS, I think your referring to the UAZ. Nifty little vehicle that will carry an entire Syrian Squad. In fact, the only reason a Ural would be more useful, than the UAZ, is for the extra ammo carrying capability. That, and troops can not currently dismount from a vehicle they are driving and move in the same turn.
  14. I once had an AP round from a T-72 penetrate a BRDM, and wound a man in the building behind it.
  15. I believe they share information more efficiently. And, there may be a moral penalty for being out of contact with the HQ unit, although this would only be readily noticeable with Syrian troops.
  16. I don't have a problem with blue troops routing when the situation calls for it. But, they seem to do it a bit too much, especially when their vehicle is hit. On the British demo mission I had one spartan get hit by an RPG, one man was killed. I sent an APC to pick them up. Over the next several minutes, with the APC sitting not more than a few meters from them, the squad routed one by one. Eventually the crewmen, who's gunner was killed several minutes ago, recovered and got in the APC. From there he went on to join the fight, while the squad of British infantry continued to route one by one. In this situation losses were light, and the infantry squad took none. But, the resulting route seemed uncharacteristic for the situation.
  17. I would really like to see separate hunt, and move to contact commands. Along with separate infantry, and vehicle cover arcs.
  18. In that case, here is a much nicer version. Complete with adoption trends, and pretty colors! http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

    CMSF pbem

Over at the World at War site they are putting together a CMSF tourney.
  21. Last I heard its on the to do list. Perhaps we'll see it in time for the Eastern front.
  22. It just struck me as strange, and more importantly reminded me of when the Syrians would get Arty but no FO.
  23. Also, I have noticed that the Brits seems to get mortar observers quite often without any artillery to speak of.
  24. Yea, I can understand the frustration in it. But, when you first post insults the developer, and then you insult the community. Well it just doesn't make a good impression on anyone. However, this should be a one time thing. In about 3 days you'll be able to play with your friend again. It also doesn't help that a large portion of the community is really excited about the Brits.
