  1. Bimmer, Loved those black and white grainy shots. Very atmospheric - especially the first one with the MG team. Heinrich505
  2. Ah, the picture came up this time around. Yikes, that is bayonet and knife-throwing range. Heinrich505
  3. Point-blank howitzer fire over open sights at charging truck. Yep, waiting with anticipation. Break out the nerves of steel. Heinrich505
  4. Oh man, a patented Truck Charge! What a bold move. I would have said a crazy one but you are popping smoke to cover it, so it is pretty cool. The enemy can't hit everyone at the same time, and you are moving up really fast. This should be very interesting. Nice move! Those guys in the trucks look quite nonplussed - must have icewater in their veins. Heinrich505
  5. Tiresias, Your melee picture didn't come through - any chance you can re-submit it? That sounded like some crazy action. You probably need to engage your Marder but as long as you use it sparingly, and move it often, the mortars might not catch it. Also, your opponent might start thinking there are more than one. Looking forward to your next installment. Heinrich505
  6. Not bored at all. I'm especially enjoying the overall layout of your strategy and unit positions. Naturally the on-the-ground action is the best part. Suspense is building as you search out the enemy. Keep it going - this is great stuff. Heinrich505
  7. Ahhh, Tobruk. More dice rolls than sesame seeds on a bun. Memories.... Heinrich505
  8. Looks like things are really heating up now. Great action in the tank duel. Your Sherman seems to be holding up well. A few more hits from the Grille and the villa might be flat. Heinrich505
  9. Noob, And what of Shrek Guy? Is he now languishing in a Canadian rear area, soon to be shipped off to Scotland and spend the rest of the war in confinement under Captain Jack Conner (who looks suspiciously like Brian Keith) while providing a distraction for the fanatical U-Boot commander who is trying to escape? Or, did he slip away in the confusion, Ofenrohr clutched tightly in his hands, to join an adjacent unit with vengeance in his eye? Inquiring minds want to know. Very nice action. You both did very well with what you were assigned. There was plenty of dramatic action, which is what I look for most in this game. Looking forward to more of the same. Heinrich505
  10. Noob, I am loving the action and the screenshots. I will be waiting to see if the former loader and now newly designated Shrek Guy re-engages and gets retribution for his partner. The two of them barely escaped that dash across the street through the hail of MG fire earlier so they were living on borrowed time already. It is exactly this sort of personal activity by the pixel-truppen that makes this game so fascinating - you get drawn in and start cheering for your individual soldiers. Heinrich505
  11. Mord, I've heard the very same thing. With the possible exception of the guy stuck with being the flamethrower operator, everyone would rather be where they were than in the shoes of the other guy. I was just waiting for the "My Dad can beat your Dad" line...still laughing.... Heinrich505
  12. John, Very interesting. I've read Belton Cooper's book - his inclusion and his insight in the video was quite powerful. These documentaries don't usually present the weaknesses of the Sherman and their results as clearly as this one did. They generally gloss over them. The toll was horrendous. In that one instance brought up by Cooper, sending those untrained 3-man crews into the fray was truly an act of desperation. It was no surprise most were knocked out. It makes me think a bit more when maneuvering my Shermans around on the virtual battlefields. Thanks for posting this. Childress - point well taken. I'm suddenly not very hungry either. Heinrich505
  13. LLF, I've been enjoying your maps and all your hard work. Your terrain is extremely immersive and bears an uncanny resemblance (your intention, of course) to the real thing. Many of those black and white photographs we've seen in the history books are actually coming to colorful life through your efforts. I've always thought the CM system should include the PTO as well. Please keep up your efforts here. Your screen shots are superb. Heinrich505
  14. Big D, Excellent action going on here. I am enjoying it a lot. Don't let all the chat on Tiresias' side spook you. You've got plenty here. I've been in your spot as the spotting rounds come rolling in. I managed to scramble everyone in all directions with fast and quick moves. It does tend to nix up the orderly advance though. Hearing the screams is tough. I love the ground-level screen shots. They are really giving us a clear picture of the sparce terrain cover. I'd say you are doing a very good job of using what little cover and concealment there is available. Just looking up the hill from the screen shot with your men behind the wall gives me the creeps. There is practically no cover and your men are going to have to rush up that. I can just imagine what is going through their virtual heads. This is a great AAR and very much appreciated. Heinrich505
  15. c3k, Sounds like you should have hit the beer before the match. Spotting might have been easier... You did nail the New England terrain to a T. No briars? I was reliving it, including the humidity. Over by the coast the humidity was so thick you could slice it with a knife and spread it on bread. Heinrich505
  16. sburke - "...I used to go to a park in PA called Tyler Arboreteum." My father used to take me to that park all the time. I never thought I would see it mentioned in this forum, all those many years later. Nice memories. Oh yes, it was a good example for terrain, cover and concealment. Heinrich505
  17. Bil, You bet we are staying tuned. This is really good stuff and I am enjoying it greatly. Your screen shots are excellent and keeping us right in the thick of things. +1 to Fenris - those T30s are hacking me off too. Heinrich505
  18. I concur with sburke. Seeing these play out is great. Your screenshots really kept us on the ground with the troops. You are both to be commended. Really nice work. Heinrich505
  19. noob, Nice one. It looked pretty grim on the map from PzC. I didn't think the lads had much of a chance to survive. Having the play-out done this way with CMBN is really neat. Heinrich505
  20. BigDork, Excellent action. I'm really enjoying it. Thanks for posting. Your screenshots are really getting us into the action. Heinrich505
  21. noob, Real nice work. I've got the popcorn ready too, just like sburke. Let 'er rip... Heinrich505
  22. noob, This is great stuff and I enjoy reading your DAR's. Your effort into making this a viable option for melding strategic and tactical is greatly appreciated. Like mjkerner, I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy seeing your posts on this. I have the older versions of John Tiller's titles and they won't run on Win7. But I loved that series. As I don't have time for H2H this probably wouldn't work for me as single player, but I enjoy the reads very much. Please keep posting them. They are greatly appreciated. Heinrich505
  23. Broadsword56 Classic. I loved it. Nothing says machine gun like BUDABUDABUDA! Nice trip down memory lane with the war comics effect. Heinrich505
  24. Clark, Really nice vid. I was drawn in right away. Your hard work was quite evident and really appreciated. Excellent job. Heinrich505
