  1. How do you think all these great user made scenarios are made? Just go to cmmods.com.
  2. Tebryn, I just played this scenario and it's pretty damn good for your first one. The map kicks ass. It's a little big; this scenario might make a better campaign. I really loved this mission and I'll be playing it again. Thanks!!!
  3. dan, it takes a few minutes. But I know what you're talking about. I had the same problem. For some reason my apaches were firing almost all of their ordnance 500 meters off screen. Way, way off. Are you overlapping the area target over the edge of the map? Maybe that has something to do with it, I don't know.
  4. Welcome to a great game! Here are some of my favorites: All of GeorgeMC's scenarios - all well balanced, fun, and plenty of vehicles. Dawn Raiders OPPW - infantry squads trying to make it up to an observation post. Rock around the block - a difficult urban battle. Fistful of doodads - a western style shootout. Afghani Stan (mine ) - for some special forces action. The Curve (mine ) - iraq convoy. Death on the Sand (min ) - 1991 gulf war tank battle, semi historical, but pretty easy. Most of the single battles that came with the game are good. Many more. edit: can't forget mark ezra's scenarios. very good too. For a real blue vs red challenge, try Hold the Line v3. This is one where you really just need to hold on for your dear life just to survive the onslaught. Same with Assault on Precinct 13. Really though, I think your best bet is to download ALL OF THEM! There are a few that aren't all that great, but trust me, most of these missions are great in one way or the other. Just don't download my scenario "Zarqawi's Last Day". It's not too good unless you really hated that guy (like me). As far as campaigns go, play ALL of them! Task force thunder, the one that came with the game, is easy but has some great battles. Also, In Search of a Ghost - a tough inf campaign. Hasrabit has some great missions. Perdition, I think, is being remade, so keep an eye out for that the next month or two. I have every scenario on cmmods, and I would recommend 90% of them.
  5. I have no problems at all with RT. I almost always play in RT mode. Pressing Escape pauses the action, so you can make any changes you want or position you camera to catch a hotspot.
  6. Thanks Field Marshal Blucher!!! Like Dan from California said, I really appreciate any scenario that comes along. And I especially appreciate you updating it for us! I'll be playing it tonight. Thanks again!
  7. You just have to be more deliberate with your planning. Coordinating movements and all that should be well planned. Use covering fire when possible. Also, don't forget to get fraps so you can take pictures while you watch the best moments of the battle.
  8. Well, it'll probably take me 5 years to play through all those anyway. Until then, I hope they keep working on upgrades and patches for each release.
  9. I agree. But burned out cars, buildings, blast marks, buildings on fire, etc would be cool. Buildings never seem to catch fire.
  10. Played it a second time. Lost only one kia and 3 wia. Spoiler * * * * * * * * * * Raced most of inf up the hill on the right, then hid my strykers in a low spot since they have no chance. Left the air controller up on the left hill. Tried to use my javelins with more prudence. All of the reds that made it to the end got hit by apaches. Just make sure NOT to use area fire with the apaches. The scenario would be a little better if the vehicles didn't make it to the end so fast. Other than that, I had fun with it.
  11. Just got my butt kicked. 10 kia, 3 wia. I think I had the right strategy, but poor execution. All at4's missed. About half of my javelins either missed or did not damage the enemy vehicles. All of my heavy and medium airstrikes missed by at least half a km! I'll have to try it again to see if I can do better.
  12. This was my first favorite mission. With scenarios where you have much greater strength, I just try to play it as perfect as possible. Makes this one fun for me.
  13. You normally hear a lot of guys chatting or yelling, but you rarely hear a radio or a radioman. I'm not savvy enough with sound software to make it sound like it's coming out of a radio speaker. But if someone here were, you could make a confirmation of a grid mission or hear another squad with medevac request. I think that would be kickass.
  14. Well, as a former squad member/leader, you are exactly right. The way were were trained (although highly unlikely in the heat of battle) the squad leader was the man. Ofcourse, he takes orders from the platoon commander who takes orders from the company commander and so on. The squad leader, in a fight, would communicate to the squad exactly who will do what. For example, a squad of infantry being approached by a fireteam of infantry... The squad leader will call out fireteams or the whole squad (who), the actions to take (what), the weapons to use (how), how many rounds to expend (how much), where to shoot (where) and finally how they are to be fired (single, auto, final protective fire, etc.). Obviously, this doesn't happen. But with enough training, the squad should perform without this babysitting. So yes, more control over a squad is essential to tactical realism.
  15. Ken, you're on the right track. All we need is to be able to click any weapon and hold it. I have wasted so much ammo without this. Weapons locations: 1. Infantry. Click a small H button on the little picture with the rifle... and he holds fire. 2. Extra weapons. Click a small H button on the picture of the extra weapon, say a javelin... and that weapon will not be used. 3. Vehicle info box. Click, for example, tow missiles or big tank gun... and that weapon will not be fired. Benefits: A) Light fire will be just 50% volume of fire from eligible (not Held) units. ex: I want to snipe the opposition. I am able to without all the guys with m4 spraying away. We will be able to assign heavy fire with any weapon or number of weapons that we want. Including just firing one javelin or at4. ex: I don't shoot all of my at4s at a single moving target 500m away, just to get blown away by the same tank at close range later on. C) We will conserve our weapons for the next time we need it. D) It will add to further enhance tactical situations. ex: You see the enemy poking out of a trench. About to surprise them with a javelin sandwich, Pvt Shmuckatelli fires some shots over their head and they dive for cover before the javeling can lock on. Later on, I advance on the position. Shmuckatelli is shot dead. <-- This won't happen. E) It will be more fun. ex: I can spend more time playing and less time bitching about details. While we're at it, for God's sake, make the "HUGE RED BUTTON" a pause button during realtime play. And kill sheets for each unit. And movable waypoints. And a get all option for getting ammo. And be able to distribute ammo freely.
  16. Also here... http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=73810&highlight=tutorial Webwing is quite a guy.
  17. Hey medlinke, glad you liked the demo. To shortly answer the first set of questions... it's worth every penny. I have played this game and loved it for a year now. Yes, there are a few annoyances, but I have watched the number of them dwindle with every patch. Second set: 1) Rough terrain is rough. Imagine driving through a boulder field, you'd have to make a lot of turns and drive over a lot of big rocks to get through it. 2) Lack of a kill sheet... yeah, that does suck. They best be working on that . 3) A perfect illustration of balancing the game. US forces may have better optics at long range, but that does no good in house to house fighting. Really, all it means is that the enemy was hiding... waiting to pounce... and bang! they attack. Same thing happens all the time in Iraq and Afghanistan. 4) I don't remember the particular scenario, but there are different types of objectives. One you have to touch, one you have to clear out all of the enemy and hold it until the end of the scenario. If your guys touched the obj and it didn't go away, odds are that you must clear out the bad guys and hold on to it. Try to have no casualties. Go sloooow or fast when you need to. When you have dead/injured guys (laying on a red disk), send a unit to sit by them. They will eventually apply medical care and might improve your ending stats. Above all, put yourself in the shoes - sorry boots - of the commander on the ground. You wouldn't send your guys to die without trying to achieve the very best outcome. For me, this makes the game that much more tense.
  18. They make great practice targets on ranges around the world.
  19. 4:30am? When do you sleep? Edit: Btw, the fighters mod looks just like Americas Army insurgents! Perfect for my AA insurgent camp mission.
