  1. Looks to me, if that's the video, a unit with BTR-70 was advancing in a large open field and then enemy tanks appeared at close distance. The tanks seems to having been engaged with RPG or something and they were blown up. But also a couple of BTR-70s were hit.
  2. Thanks for sharing. The most advanced improvements of these T-72 are represented in shock force right now. What strikes of those images of "upgraded" T-72s is the extremist slat armor application (while the additional boxes are most probably empty spaced armor elements). It's an evident example of local modification intended for a very specific battlefield (such as the Syrian civil war), against a very specific weapon (RPG mainly). Several other details suggest the adaptation to a urban or mixed environment, where a front "bumper" might seem useful to protect the front tracks from hitting a wall and some more metal wire grids protect the visors. The visual representation shows a very interesting evolution. From a standard T-72 with 1st generation ERA, to a field modification with a few sandbags, wood logs, metal sheets, up to the use of locally installed wire meshes, and finally reaching a dedicated factory kit with spaced armor and slat cages. The only mistake in the article regards the NSVT "shields", in reality those "shields" are not intended to protect the commander when operating the rooftop MG (not a case they face frontwards, not backwards such as the MG, and they are of very thin metal, half being just tarpaulin)), they are a protection for the commander against harsh weather elements while the tank is running and he is outside his hatch, these were very common on older T-72 and most probably retained since the vehicles acquisition.
  3. Until now I have seen pictures of BTR-80, BMP-2 and BTR-4E with cage armor kits on. Maybe this is not a huge difference, but I belive that these variants could be of some use on the field in CMBS.
  4. I've seen Ukraine's VDV and possibly national guard using BTR-80s with slat armor added, so there's already a potential new vehicle version for them.
  5. The fulda gap game if set in the 80s would certainly require a Whole new game, with different units and organization.

What I belive the first module will bring: VDV for Ukraine and Russia Marines for US Next modules? -NATO (probably just like CMSF, one main army plus a couple more from western NATO) -Eastern countries (Poland first of all) -irregulars/volunteer formations -Russian marines What NATO countries I'd like to see? Germany and Great Britain are very obvious, maybe too much, but they are just needed. France and Italy are in my opinion very interesting and would bring something new to the game in terms of flavor.

  8. I remember having this issue during a PBEM, with a modular building 1st floor. I'll see what I can do in the editor. A quick test doesn't show up any anomaly, the troops lay down in front of a window, set up the AGS launcher, and then they can shoot it. Maybe the problem is releated to a given building or setup.
  9. Hmm, it's truly an interesting problem. I also found more than once my units using auto-smoke when I didn't want them to. I understand that a tank that gets a warning can't immediately know what is lasing it, even if it's just a low level threat... Sly, your "tactics" about how to manage smokes are smart, but you shouldn't be forced to do something like that as you know already. I found myself forced to order a dash move using FAST command to an M1 when I wanted it to attack a BMP-3 that I knew would have lased it, and it did, if my M1 reacted as the game forces it wouldn't kill the BMP, but hide two turns behind a smoke screen, instead, thanks to the FAST command it pushed behind its own smoke screen and destroyed the target. All in all I belive that if we could control such detail within our units it would be perfect. Example, consider what if we had this:
  10. Funny thing. Few days ago I had to pull out of terrain some very old (30+ years) vine logs, which were planted to hold on a mesh wire fence 2m tall. The logs were some 2.3/3m tall and 0.5/1m deep in the ground. Well I had a hell of a time to take them out of the ground. Not only they were extremely sturdy (despite being so old and left unpainted in the open), they had thick fibres, whenever I tried to lever force on them they didn't break, they twisted and kept toghether. Even using a hand saw the fibres were so hard I had to sweat twice or more to cut them as a common green wood of the same size. Moreover, the wineyards are a mixture of plants, logs (modern ones are also made out of reinforced concrete) and wires, add the fact that wines like rocky ground...

  12. Indeed, that shouldn't happen. Call it bad luck or anything like that is not helpful. That simply shouldn't happen, because even if an elite top gun pilot dodges, uses chaffs, flares etc. can't escape 12 missiles from so many different trackers... We know they were tunguskas and strelas (what kind of strela?). What about the air asset? Do you know what was being targeted?
  13. Thanks for your kind words Peter, yes, I forgot about the personal heavy weapons, missile launchers, machine guns, but also AKs etc. It could be interesting, I remember using Aris' weathered weapons mod, maybe something similar could be done for CMBS.

  18. There aren't dedicated tutorials, you'd better search for those dedicated to the specific paint program you use. The game textures are in packed in game files (.brz extensions), you can use the embedded programs (ReZExplode) to unpack them. Inside you'll find .bmp files, which are the single textures. They are easy to work with. Anyway, as regarding normal maps I use this free program and find it easy and quick: SS Bump Generator. Just Google it to find it.
  19. You could either: -use the pre-set. The pre-set choice of forces might include all or several variants mixed toghether -delete the vehicles of a platoon, then manually buy new ones as single vehicles (but be sure to keep them within the platoon)
  20. To be fair I can imagine that a close to reality thermic display of a dynamic world would require a huge amount of calculus.
  21. The BMP-3 in green is available, the BRM-3 not. Maybe I'll work on it after finishing the vehicles.
